I'm pretty sure that Apple has access to everything you type now, now that they are doing predictive typing.

yup I'm sure of that too, but it shouldn't be the reason for another company to know what we type also.

Exactly right. Something that is able to collect ALL OF YOUR DATA ENTRY and use it however the app maker deems fit - unless it is Apple, who I trust 110% (and let's face it, you'd not have much choice, even if you *didn't* trust them) seems like something that... well... not that I don't trust, so much, just another layer of doubt and abiguity that has no reason to be there, AND the potential risk of which is not at all offset by ANY substantial benefits in typing.

In a nutshell... no thanks, but thanks. :)

I can safely say at least 90% of us want this app for the swipe type feature thingy.

all we have to do is be patient, apple will integrate this soon enough. :)

SwiftKey is by far my favorite but i'm concerned about the full access so I deleted it and purchased Swype. It's going to take some getting used to. SwiftKey is much easier for me to use.

You need to remove the usual Apple keyboard from your list of keyboards, otherwise after Emoji keyboard, it will go back to the Apple stock one.

I deleted the default ketyboard completely and moved swiftkey to the top. What ended up happening was when I tried quick reply it tried to use emoji as the default keyboard.....

Worst part about this keyboard, is that it requires full access for word prediction... which means the keyboard is no longer sandboxed.

This keyboard is also completely free, which begs the question how are they making money. They are probably data-minning the words we type. Like Apple said we are its product.

Can you provide an answer here? Definitely concerned about that so I deleted it. But did it get access to what was typed beforehand?

To people complaining about customization:

it's optional.

To fandroids:

1. You're sounding very scared about this.

2. iPhone users have class. most will stick to the original Apple keyboard, You know, the one that WORKS.

Um, SwiftKey works.. and it works a hell of a lot better/faster.

I downloaded it and then deleted right away... Didn't like that they collect everything you type including credit card and other sensitive information you might type

"Who needs alternative keyboards? Lol Android customization is so useless"
-Any iOS zealot 6 months ago

I been using Android for a few months and already quite annoyed with it so will sell the phone shortly. 2 things I would have missed, costum keyboards and notification led light. Costum keyboards won't be missed now. And Android can have all is million themes and Screensaver, won't need them.

Swype doesn't need full access. It's also a thousand times better than SwiftKey when it comes to accuracy. If you're installing one of these apps because you like the swiping method, Swype is worth the small fee.

They both work the same for me. I stuck with SwiftKey for the looks. Otherwise, it's the same, really.

The built in iOS8 keyboard does word prediction. How is SwiftKey better?

You swipe. Saves tons of time when you get used to it. I can probably type two words in SwiftKey for every one word on Apple's keyboard. ;)

They can make excuses for full access (word analyzation), but their data mining was evident from the start. They require you to sign in with Facebook or Google just to install the keyboard, which gives them your name and email. When I attempted to sign in with Google, it wanted access to my email. Yes, it wanted to read my emails. Then, when I went to Facebook instead, it wanted to read my private messages. Ridiculous for a keyboard. Happily and securely using Swype to type this post.

Not true. You can scroll down and click not sign in to anything.

You're entirely wrong, you don't have to allow either of those.

I have allowed them and my suggestions are much better as a result since it knows words I frequently use and the order in which I use them.

Exactly. If a product is free, ask yourself how they're making money. What is the product. Well, it's free, so the product is your data, and in this case, the things you type. I can't believe anyone would willingly install what amounts to a remote key logger on iOS, and frankly I'm surprised Apple allows network access from these. I'd classify this app as spyware.

You can give it all permission it asks for, just block internet access with a firewall.
