I just paid that much for another iPhone 4. I am betting that there will only be like 3 per store and they will be refurbs.

My local TJMaxx had 6 left

I was just about to purchase a refurb from Apple.com when I checked MacRumors. I purchased one in Woodbridge VA, (DC suburbs)

WTH ... Either apple is coming up with iPad 2

or Epple is launching the eeped! I don't believe any of this!

Good Luck, if you live in Utah!

I just got off the phone with every TJ Maxx store in the state of Utah. All of them already had a few phone calls from people like us, and they didn't know anything. I finally got directed to corporate customer service who described it as an iPad hide-and-seek! It seems like this will be more of a pray and call sort of promotion, and if your lucky enough to get one congrats.

Haha, they didn't even see it coming!

Latest store I have called, answer I got when asked about the iPad. "Sir, we are a clothing store, we don't sell iPads!!!". They obviously thought i was prank calling! Man that was funny!

Could be the new price for the old iPad

Time to dump the old merchandise before the IPad the Next Generation comes out in Jan I say...

Or, maybe this is a hint that Apple will do with iPad what they do with iPhone. They could keep the old low-end model around for $100 less than the new low-end model. The 2010 8GB iPad could go for $399, and the 2011 8GB iPad 2.0 will most likely start at the same old $499.

Cheapskates who were holding out will get a new low price, Android and Windows wannabes will feel the pain because Apple erodes their only advantage (low price again), and people who were gifted 2010 iPads over the holiday season won't feel too bad since their old model will still be around for another year.

i just called my local tjmax in NJ and they confirm they will start selling iPad from thanksgiving with special price..

Why would they make an 8gb iPad??

Why would they make an 8gb iPad??

I think he meant the 16 Gig.

This would make sense.

I was just looking at the new B&N Color Nook ($249) and some other Android 7" Tablet at Best Buy ($199) and they are worthy competitors, especially at Apple's $499 (though you do get a larger screen).

$399 for a basic iPad would be great.

Maybe it's better to just wait it all out...

Awesome, honestly thats how much the ipad should be worth.. $399 is a good price point.. Its in between netbooks and entry level laptops..

The "manufacturers" of vapor tablets just went comatose when they realized that not only will they never match the iPad's quality, but now with the volume and breadth of distribution they'll never ever come close to competing on price.

(Wait'll Apple announces iPad 2 in January - - they'll have to be taken off life support altogether.)

You figured once the iPad 2 comes out, these will most likely drop in price since the new ones will more than likely have a front facing camera for FaceTime.

I'm gonna call around since I have a few of those stores close to me. Will report back with an availability status.

Are you talking about those $100 Android tablets? iPad has a long way to go there. And I am pretty sure that if Apple is going to compete on price with the likes of Audiovox, Creative etc. Apple will be the first one to go bankrupt.

Wow, these deels are nice!
I can't decide if I'd rather just wait out for the 2nd generation iPad though.

I was driving home from work earlier and they were talking about the $400 iPad deal on the radio. Word is spreading fast about this deal.

My hunch would also be that the iPad 2,1 may appear faster than 1 year. If you remember back to the original iPod touch which was released in February and updated in september. Many other products received a quick update to version 2 before settling into the usual schedule.
