At lunch today, just for fun I stopped by my local Best Buy.
The rep. said their store had received 0 6 plus, and will not receive their *first shipment* until later in the week.
Also next to the Gyro place where I had lunch is a Verizon company store, so I asked them about the 6 plus situation. They said they sold out of an initial supply on Friday when they opened and have had no additional stock since then, and recommend I order online for a late October delivery.
In other words, its not just t-mobile, Apple, generally speaking botched this launch six ways to Sunday - and they are playing a big numbers game right now.
Tim Cook says they sold more than 'expected' but in reality they only pulled ahead pre-order sales that haven't even been delivered to get to a mythical '10 million' sale launch weekend, that just barely surpasses the 9 million number of the 5S launch weekend.
What is trying to say, if this is unexpected? That he expected to do worse than the 5s launch?
Tim Cook really should stop trying to pretend he's master of supply chain, and instead be master of marketshare and profits. They should have had the large screen phone a year ago.
I got up at midnight PST - which is 2am CST, and went to apple.com and hit refresh for over two hours until the store finally went live. Now this is a complication that is t-mobiles fault - they weren't on the store App - so most people that got 6 plus on launch day, were able to order in the critical first half hour - but without tmobile being on the app, I had no choice but to wait for apple.com
Still - I ordered within a minute of apple.com going live - and I'm getting my phone tomorrow.
Just saying - I betcha I'm included in the 10 million launch weekend, since I was charged on Thursday. But in reality, I completely missed launch day and launch weekend.
