Hey guys,
Been following this thread for over a week, finally decided to post. So here's my experience so far:
Phone: iPhone 6 Plus, 128 GB, Space Gray
Carrier: T-Mobile
Order from: T-Mobile (because I wanted to make monthly payments on the phone and not buy it outright.)
Friday 9/12 @ 5PM PDT: After SEVENTEEN hours of trying to order the phone, I'm finally able to place my order. I'm e-mailed the EIP agreement, I signed it and return it. I have an estimated arrival date of 9/25. Not ideal, but I'll take it.
Wednesday 9/17 @ 3PM PDT: Receive a text, followed by an e-mail, from T-Mobile saying my phone would arrive on Friday. Tracking info to come.
Wednesday 9/17: Thanks to a tip on MacRumors, I sign up for UPS MyChoice to attempt to track the package. I also continue to search for my package using my phone number as the reference number.
Thursday 9/18 @ 8:30AM PDT: Receive a text from T-Mobile saying that my order is being shipping priority overnight. Still no tracking number.
Friday 9/19: No phone... Though my original ETA was 9/25, and my debit card still hasn't been charged.
Saturday 9/20 @ 10:30AM PDT: Receive a text from T-Mobile that my order has been cancelled and that I should call customer support. I'm on the phone for a total of 2 and a half hours, and talk to four different people. It is being claimed that my credit union rejected the charges. While I'm on hold waiting for another rep, I drive to my credit union and talk to the manager on duty who says that my account has not been charged by T-Mobile and they have never rejected a charge on a my account in the three years I've been with them. I relay this to the fourth T-Mobile rep, who promises me that a T-Mobile corporate representative will reach out to me on Monday between 4 and 4:15PM PDT. At this point, I have NO order placed and NO iPhone on the way.
Monday 9/22 @ 10:15AM PDT: Receive a call from a T-Mobile corporate rep ("Joe") who apologizes for what transpired. Although he is unable to slot me to the "front of the line," he offers a few things. ONE, he offers to place the new order himself over the phone. TWO, he offers to bill my account once the phone is ready for shipment instead of using a credit/debit card to ensure that I'm not cancelled on for the same reason. THREE, he offers to take $200 off the price of my iPhone, with $100 coming off up front, the other $100 coming in the form of a discounted monthly price on my EIP. I accept.
So now I'm waiting 4-6 weeks but at least I know its on the way. Though my experience has been a complete pain in the ass, my iPhone will be $200 cheaper and I'm presumably getting it no slower than if I switched carriers.
Just thought I'd share...
