Sorry, I work in IT and I get a lot of really simple questions; you'd be surprised by how stupid can be. I've had people ask why something does't work. It's because it wasn't plugged in. Some people couldn't log in. Because they didn't spell their own name correctly. So just kind of force of habit for me to go to the stupidest answer first. Sorry.

The third hole is probably the proximity sensor. That's been there since the original iPhone. Basically, if you put your phone next to your ear, the proximity sensor tells the phone to turn off the display so you don't accidentally press something.

I know I work in IT and had to spend about 1 hour explaining how to use a scroll bar!

Yes but it seems odd having a proximity sensor off centred? plus i'm sure the proximity sensor of the previous iPhones are long like the mic and not a small circle? plus not visible in black models?

WWDC would be a great time to announce this phone. LTE is becoming much more established, especially here in the Bay Area. Apple really needs to release an LTE phone soon to compete with everyone else.

I’ll take slight fragmentation over massive fragmentation any day!

I’ll take more pixels over more area, too. And I definitely don’t want a bulky Android-style handset.

Nothing. That’s just one of a zillion mockups made by someone other than Apple. Based on one of a zillion old rumors, some of which had some grain of truth we may never know about, but few of which were useful in the end.

And a tapered phone that doesn’t sit flat when you lay it on a table to compose an email, watch a video, or play a game in landscape was never a good idea.

I wouldn't be surprised if you're right. It seems rather early for all of these leaks if still had another 5 months (or so) to wait.

And if Apple plans on demoing iOS 6 and giving developers a chance to play with it, you think Apple would give them a heads up. And you can't explain having to adapt to a "new resolution" without giving away their secret. We'll probably see iOS 6 and iP5 in a couple weeks for a July release. Easy. :apple:

I agree.

kinda silly looking but i can see it working, i can see the app covering its usual area and then maybe a widget at the top of the app like, always having the weather, stock and what not like ads on some apps except they would be stuff you'd want... oh well hopefully they won't change the size of the charging cable unless it's firewire or thunderbolt....

I really was hoping for a wider phone not taller. hopefully these are just some old protos to throw us off of the real iphone 4SS/5/6

The current design fits in my hand (and pocket) perfectly, so I'm not sure I'd like it much wider.

Edit: I do have fairly small hands. :D

It wouldn't surprise me if Apple chooses this format. If for no other reason than to be different and validate their original choice of width.

IF these dimensions are true then I'm glad I didn't wait for it. If they don't increase the width i'm not interested.

This is going to be the most incredible iPhone yet. I can easily see Apple struggling to meet demand for 6 months when this beauty launches.

That's so 2011..

:p

Ha!

Well I still think there is some truth that mockup. Perhaps it is not the iPhone we will see released in the next couple of months, but it is either a design that Apple contemplated or is currently working on. Regardless, it is a very nice one and for some reason, back in 2011 when all the dimensions were released for that mockup and some case manufacturers invested in some cases for it, it seems as if it was a possibility we would see a phone like that one day from Apple.

i hope the new new iPhone will get rid of that annoying home button. "Zephyr" on Cydia basically made the home button obsolete for me and i wish apple would implement something like that

and are we certain that isnt a new iPod Touch screen? i mean, with the facetime camera like that and all

I there are so many of these that these blog companies can get a hold of them, it can`t be just a prototype.

Again, seems like the launch is closer than October.

I don't see what all the complaining is about, the screen size looks good.

If they made the screen wider you'd just complain that they didn't keep the phone smaller (which they have managed to do with the on in the video, the phone size is only a tiny bit bigger).

& to all the people saying it looks strange or stretched, thats becuse you are so used to a small screen.

I just think this idea of this longer screen / taller phone combination is ridiculous.

You'll love it. Believe. Apple has clearly spent a lot of time perfecting the art of making a bigger screen. They haven't rushed in like Android handset makers and made a real mess of the experience. Once again Apple will lead the way with new iPhone.

qr code from back of glass panel at 0:36 in video

A little adjustment... Doesn't look like a QR code, and I couldn't "read" it.

That's rather ugly. I would definitely not buy that.

Apple's decline has begun?

If that turns out to be the real deal, I wonder how many people who say that will be like "That's the coolest looking phone ever!"

Probably not a QR code but definitely looks like another kind of 2D barcode I've seen before. Can't remember the exact name, though.

Edit: just did a Wikipedia search, looks like it may be a Data Matrix barcode.

i hope the new new iPhone will get rid of that annoying home button. "Swifty" on Cydia basically made the home button obsolete for me and i wish apple would implement something like that

I use the home button ALL the freakin time. I don't understand the need to get rid of it. And if they do get rid of it, how do you replace it?

I like the design. Of course there will have to be an adjustment period for everyone due to the aspect ratio change, but this is going to be a change for the better in the long run. Imagine all apple products with the same ratio all playing nice with one another and screens mirroring one another. Imagine what this means for the movie, television, and games industry that operate mostly at 16:9. In the unlikely event that what I'm imagining comes to fruition, Apple may have just destroyed Nintendo's next console, the Wii U, with an iphone.

having a video of the "prototype" somehow makes its more real? c'mon people. there's no difference between an image or video of a fake part.
