you can not in the app you have to adjust the font size throughout the phone in settings > general > accessibility > larger type

That is not the right location. It is Settings > General > Text Size.

Also note that this will change the font size everywhere. Not just in Tweetbot.

I wish if they really did redesign the app from the ground up, that they would do a universal app.

I have no problem paying for updates for great apps (paid for Reeder 2), so I'll pay for this. I can't help but feel a bit disappointed to see an iphone only app though.

I feel the exact same way! I use tweetbot on a daily basis so I don't mind paying again.... however I was a little disappointed that they didn't make it Universal. I might keep the old version on my iPad since I don't use that one as often.

Happy to support a few of my favorite devs who make some of my favorite products. If I can throw money at Starbucks to make me an overpriced latte I can throw another $3 to a group of hard working devs trying to make a living. I use this app hours daily and can not think of another app I would pay for again for a quality upgrade.

What I find hysterical is the amount of complaining in the App Store about being suckered to buy this upgrade. Uhh you have a choice before hitting that Buy button not to buy it. Sometimes the App Store is worse than YouTube comments.

BTW semi off topic,

Is anyone using the Dynamic Type setting at it's lowest setting? I find it makes TB perfect and doesn't make text too small in other apps such as Messages and Mail. I guess I may have decent eyes though.

That being said I'd love the options for font back in TB settings. The Tiny font size in TB2 was so perfect IMHO.

I just bought it but I think binding the app's text size to iOS Dynamic Type was an IDIOTIC move. I can only see 3 tweets per page with the current settings and would have to move the text size slider all the way to the left to get the same size as in the previous version of Tweetbot. But that way, the text in Mail app would get really small and that's unacceptable for me!!

I've seen some people mention this on their Twitter account and I've also sent them a couple of comments through both Twitter and email, so I'd like to request as many of you guys as possible to send them complaints about this... The more they receive, the more likely they'll bring the text size option back to Tweetbot.

It would mean a lot to me to get that option back. Thanks!

Both locations seem to give you the same adjustments correct? The only difference is in the Accessibility location it has the Larger Text toggle which seems to enable a more fine tuned control for font size. Or is this doing something else?

Thanks

Am I the only one that doesn't really like Tweetbot? My gripes with the previous version were that they ignored all of the iOS design language in favour of their own bespoke interface for things like buttons and check boxes, etc. For this version I feel like they've almost gone overboard on the iOS 7. While I like all the swoops and the clean icons, I just feel that it's too cluttered. I reduced the font size (I should be able to read more than 4 tweets on an iPhone 5!) but that changed the font size system wide, which I didn't like.

Don't get me wrong, there are some great features - muting is a godsend at times - but I just feel that the UI is too much about the UI and not about the content.

Yeah i agree it seems a bit cluttered.. and I'm annoyed with the text size as well. See my post above and please send them a message regarding the text size... the more the better...

Developer has already mentioned on Twitter an update will include ability to adjust font size within app so you will be able to rest easy tonight. ;)

That increases my chances of not deleting it. I'd really like to like it but at the moment I just prefer the cleanliness of the official Twitter app (but not the adverts and conversation lines).

Big bummer for me to lose the ability to tap on "Timeline" at the top to see my Twitter lists... I think I will stick to the old one for now :(

Oh, they did? Where? Then that's indeed good news if true.

That's not surprising, there aren't any textures anymore.

To my knowledge, this is the first paid upgrade since Tweetbot was released. So, no, not every year.

And if it is $3 every year, so what? I use it every day. It's more than worth that price.

The alternative is that Tweetbot development is no longer financially viable for the developer so it has to be abandoned. That would be far worse.

Even if it was every year... paid software generally has paid upgrades. If iOS users want bigger developers, they should probably be willing to support them monetarily.

You're going to pay for it every year, effectively it's renting software (even) if you want bug fixes - since they've pulled the old version from the App Store already.

They have only pulled it from sale to prevent confusion at launch. It is still available for re-download from the Purchased tab in the App Store. And they still intend to provide bug fixes and support.

It's a $3 upgrade. I'm fine with paid upgrades so long as they're limited to major revisions/redesigns like this that involve substantial effort by the developer. That said, I get by just fine with the official client.

Someone asked the difference between Tweetbot 3 and Twitteriffic since at first glance they might look similar.

Twitteriffic is a fanastic app, but it is mostly visual. It has some cool features like swipe left to reply and and swipe left for conversation view (like Tweetbot) and muffle (which is inferior to Tweetbot's mute feature IMO). Other than those and maybe a few others, it's just a nice way to view your twitter feed. It doesn't have too many bells and whistles, which might be exactly what someone wants from a Twitter app.

For me, however, it lacks a lot of cool things that Tweetbot offers. Things like, image previews from more sources, instagram and Vine previews, more detailed information when viewing a tweet or profile, recent pictures taken, more options in the menus, the way the names and hashtags pop up when you're composing a tweet and a lot of other things.
