This thread is starting to be like a bad accident. You know that you shouldn't stop and stare, but you just can't help it!

I guess I'll add to the carnage, I wonder if the $40. gift card offer can be applied to a pre-order for an LTE iPad 4 from Target?

I called yesterday and was offered a credit back (refund) on my two smart covers for the mini (bought two).

For those that are in a similar situation - has anyone seen a change on their order status ($0 instead of $39.99)? From what I can see in my online account there is no change.

I will wait a few days and home to see a refund hit the credit card, but had hoped I could see something in the online account to confirm the refund.

There is nothing online that tells me that the representative refunded me for the smart cover. I only have the representative's name. I know it can take a few business days to process back to the card, however.

Yeah, there's nothing indicating I'm getting a credit...I thought the guy said ill be able to "see" it, but maybe he meant on my CC statement.

I ordered a mini with cover and 4th gen with smart case.
When I called tuesday night my mini case already showed "shipped" and everything else was still in prepared for shipment. When I told them about the deal, and after she verified on target.com, the rep said she could give me both covers for free.
Since the mini cover had already shipped, she said she would just credit my card back the full price of 42.02... The credit didn't show up on my card until earlier today, Thursday. Apple order status still shows the 39.99 price.
The price of the smart case on my order status changed to $0.00 after a few minutes since it hadn't shipped.

So I wouldn't worry about the credit not showing up til after a couple days. Even tho to be honest I did :D

I got an email from Apple about 10 minutes after getting off the phone stating they would be crediting my card. The CSR said it will take up to 5 days for the credit to appear on credit card.

Can Someone Please help I called and the guy was very rude and he said they didn't do price matching. If someone can do me a favor and call them I give you my order number and I will give you a iTunes gift card in return for the favor.
I ordered iPad mini 16gb

so is target actually giving a $40 gift card with purchase of the new 4th gen iPad? I mean, was that the intent, or is it just for the previous gen model.

I was told by a CSR at 800-My-Apple that they don't do price-matching or promotion-matching. Even though he didn't hear about any "one-time goodwill gestures" he was very polite about it.

I've tried this twice.
After the first attempt, it felt kind of wrong and shady, so after the second failure I said no more.

It's 39 bucks, whatever.
Glad to hear some people are still finding success though.

Honestly it seems like it's up in the air at this point. Probably won't get a definitive answer unless you visit a Target store.

Maybe this has been updated go to target.com site blow up the ipad ad it clearly says gift card not on ipad mini.

Just glancing this week Target flyer and it says you get a 40 dollar gift card for any iPad. So that would technically for example be 329 - 40 (gift card) = 289 for a new iPad mini (16 gb) right? Or are there any better deals out there?

if this is the case we should all got to target and grab a printed copy

just checked my local target ad online, it says nothing about iPad mini being excluded. maybe this is by location?

What the hell are you going to do with the printed copies? Blow your nose?

So I called Monday and was supposedly refunded but the credit is still not showing up on my credit card. I will wait through tomorrow and call back as I would think that should be sufficient time for processing.

Seriously? Do people actually read these threads???

for the 3rd time now, Target is NOT (I repeat, NOT) honoring the $40 Gift Card on the purchase of a Mini.

Target had no way of knowing about the new iPads when this Ad was created, and thus have posted signs all over the Electronics dept stating the iPad Mini is excluded. They've also updated their online Ad as such.

If you are going to Target to buy only a Mini, not YOU or ANYBODY else will leave with a $40 gift card.

Not sure how many more ways I can say this.

Do you work for Target? How do you know they had no idea new iPads were coming out? It's probably all part of their master plan to mislead customers into their stores.

Everyone and their mothers knew that the mini was coming.

my question is how do you know Target didn't anticipate this? not what they changed in their online ad.

if you count the ipad case manufacturers in china as business, then sure!

It doesn't matter how I know, or if Target even knew. All YOU need to know is that Target has their full legal right to change any offer at any time.

Is tomorrow 5 days?

Including Monday, yes! If he really processed the refund on Monday while speaking to me, I most likely would have received it on Wednesday or today at the latest. Representatives always seem to say 3-5 business days for refunds. Being that I work in the finance industry, refunds are usually credited back in 2-3 business days from the time they were processed.

In no world is Friday 5 days from Monday. I dot care where you work, if he told you 3-5 days then keep your mouth shut and let people with actual problems talk to CS reps.

Five business days is five business days. That would mean *Monday*, as the day you called is not counted as a full business day.

You're not only a moron, but an argumentative one on top of it. No one knew ahead of time, hence the need for corrections to the online ad and the displays in-store.

Monday isn't included. They said up to 5 business days, so stop being an impatient twit.

you're right, but that doesn't mean NONE of us are going to get these gift cards. if this a manual thing that target associates have to scan, then some of the ipad mini sales will get the gift card.
