It seems like Target's supply in the LA area has dried up. I haven't seen any in stock in about a week. Anyone else able to find some in the last few days?

North Hollywood Target inventory tracker helped me score a White 16GB wifi while I was on my lunch break. I checked this morning and nothing. I happened to check again at around 12:15pm and it showed up as "Available". I drove over and they were putting them in the cage just as arrived. I got the first one out of the box.:)

FWIW, I checked the inventory tracker again and it's no longer available

This is another thank you message to all the kind hearted people who donated their time to this thread and the tools found on it. My story is a bit different from the typical success stories posted.

Best of luck to the rest of you in your Ipad 2 hunting. I hope you are all successful very soon.

I'm glad you found an Ipad2 at Sam's of all places.

But I thought Sam's would only have ipad2's at those 10 in that list?

Was the ipad you found not on that list?...

I was not aware of that list until you posted it. The club at which my SIL purchased my iPad is most definitley NOT on that list. She was at the Waukesha, WI club. I'm guessing that list was only for the launch or something like that.

Hopefully this exchange will help some of you in your quest. I'm thinking it will.

Wow, I haven't seen much in the way of ATT models here outside Philly. That's cool you found some.

Hey... which Target? I'm in NEPA as well... Wilkes-Barre store?

Just wanted to say that even though I wasn't able to get one at a Target I decided to wait in line at the Apple store yesterday morning. This was the store in Schaumburg, IL (the store is inside the mall). Got there at 715am, the store was already open and there was a line of around 40-50. At 8am they started handing out the white cards that would guarantee you an ipad. At 830 they started selling them and by 9am I was out the door with my black 16GB wifi ipad. Considering that the mall itself doesn't actually open until 10am that worked out great.

Thanks for all the advice.

A public thanks from me, as well...and a heads up. Target West Hollywood as of 20 minutes ago has stock. I bought a 32gb Wifi Black, only to walk to my car and see that the Best Buy next door had a HUGE shipment. When I got to Best Buy I saw that they had a 64 GB Wifi+3G black, though I had wanted the 64 GB Wifi Black, I decided to snag the ATT 3G version...I might connect it anyway. I want the extra space and who knows, maybe a 64 GB wifi will show up.

I went and returned the 32GB Wifi to Target. This was 20 minutes ago. I realize I might be giving a heads up to scalpers and those wanting one alike...but I'd rather put it out there and hope scalpers don't get a hold. Plus, I think the scalping is going to take a nosedive soon. Best Buy had a ton in stock, Target had at least 12, and I had access to all of them. I think we are going to see bigger stocks coming in on the regular.

Happy hunting. Obviously I had to the chance to buy multiple but the point isn't to scalp them, I could careless about flipping one on ebay...just wanted the one I've been looking for.

I was there, 20 min after you I think, they had only the verizons left. lol. Damn that is fast!

I got it at the wilksbarre target

If I ever meet you, remind me to buy you a beer! Got a 32gb 3G AT&T at that target just 20 minutes ago!

The guy said that they seem to be getting near daily shipments. Yesterday was 16 and 64 and today was 16 and 32.

Woot!

None in Phoenix area for last 5 days. Only one shows as "Limited Availability" in Chandler, but I've called them 3 times and each time, they said they don't have any. And I haven't gone there to physically check. But all the ones that show up in my search for my ZIP have nada.

Yay I got mine. The target in Paramus nj had shown available all day for 64gb Verizon. I thought it would be gone by the time I got out of work but I asked the girl in charge there and she said they have two of those only in the back. I got one and can cancel my apple order. There is one left still if anyone wants it.

It took an hour for the stock checker to go from available to limited stock.

Thanks Macrumors

Thanks to the handy Target links, I was able to score 2 64 gig AT&Ts which I promptly sold to an Asian gentleman for a $400 profit which filled the shortfall between what I'm getting for me ipad1 from Gazelle and the cost of my new ipad2. Sweet!

Just wanted to say that the TargetIpadStock.py is working like a champ and helped me locate 4 different iPad 2 models in my area. Nothing like getting an email telling you what and where. 32GB Black VZN.

Does Target generally keep the iPads in the back? Saw one place with the model I wanted in stock, went to the store and only saw a couple of the original iPads in the display. The girl working at the counter said those were the only ones they had.

If the Target inventory checker shows up as in stock, it is very likely that that item is really in stock & may probably be "hidden" somewhere in the store. I would suggest that you politely ask her or some other Target employee to help you look for it (behind counter, drawer underneath the register, back in their storage room/warehouse, etc.). :)

Good luck. :)

I wanted the black 16gb but the local target had a white so i went for it. I ran into the same problem as you today, the man behind the counter and said he just sold the last one 5 minutes ago. He did not seem very assuring, it still showed up in the system when I left (checking on my phone).

Same thing happened to me today (black AT&T 32GB). After a lot of effort including getting a manager one mysteriously appeared from below the check out counter even though the man behind the counter said he sold the last one and only had Verizon models left. It still showed available on my phone and it seemed like he definitely did not want to sell it. I didn't end up getting it as there was someone else who came in after me and said her husband was leaving on a trip Friday and really wanted it. So, I gave it up. Figured I can get one later this week or next as I'm not in as much a rush.

Note: This script will not work with Python version 3, which introduced a number of syntax changes (including the print statement). You will need python 2.x. Sorry, I should have noted it, but 3 is still uncommon.

OK a little bit of a novice here - how do you install and run a script?

The online system can lag up to an hour. The in-store system is usually accurate up to the minute.

I'm no expert, but looking at the code, the function definition of formatHTMLErrors uses a variable called "errors" that is non-existent. I believe the original programmer intended on it being this on line 200:

def formatHTMLErrors(dataList)

I changed it to that and I'm gonna give the script another run.

You are right, I fixed it. Python is great, but unfortunately doesn't catch these sort of errors in compilation. That's why unit tests are important.

Another successful iPad acquisition!

Used the Target tracker at about 5:20pm yesterday before I was leaving work. It said "Available" at the Mt. Vernon, NY Target, and all the other ones in the surrounding area were sold out.

I walked in, and got myself a Black, 32GB ATT 3G iPad. The only other one they had was a 32GB WiFi. The associate told me this was only their second shipment since the launch date.

This tracker has paid off very well, thanks to everyone who helped put it together!
