Targus Slim Case

Also ordered the Indigo from Amazon for my new iPad.

I am upgrading from a 1st gen iPad and have been a big fan of the original Apple case. Have used it daily for two years now and the case has kept the iPad mint. Was tempted by the Maroo cases, but this Slim Case seems to be the closest to the original case and much less bulky than the Maroos.
 
Does the stand for this model support the portrait position as well or only the landscape mode?
 
Amazon shipped!!

Just got notice the the Indigo Slim iPad 3rd Gen case shipped today. I'll have it tomorrow with plenty of time to spare before the iPad's arrival Friday!
 
white slim case

I ordered the white case last night around 9 pm from amazon and they said I would receive an email for the estimated delivery date. I looked on amazon tonight and it says that all the cases will ship between 3-4 weeks. Anyone order a color besides indigo and receive an email from amazon?

Even the blue shows 2-4 weeks if you buy it now. I ordered the indigo yesterday & it shipped tonight with delivery tomorrow (Wednesday).

Yea well ordered my white slim case on Saturday and I just got an email that said not to expect it until April 5th to 10th. ******* that. I'm going to cancel that order and see if I can find it locally. If not then screw it. I got a leather Maroo Moko for $22 during that huge sale and I'll be just content with that.
 
I ordered black on day one and now it says April 4. Thanks God this is April 2012, not 2013 :). Going to cancel. Try to find it in local stores.

I didn't get any date for mine when i pre-ordered. Where does it say that? I was hoping I would get it around the same time as the ipad as amazon had said "ships by 3/16". I guess not.
 
yeah it's curious to say the least. i also ordered a white one a few days back. i wonder if they found an issue with the ones they made ahead of time and have to re-do them. i'd be curious to hear from one of the guys that ordered the indigo.

there is one reseller on amazon claiming he has one white one for sale, but i'd rather just wait now.

Awesome! I may have to hit some local stores up this Friday and see if I can pick up an Indigo one. Didn't think Amazon was going to sell out so fast...
 
First Impressions

I received this case today (indigo) the case is pretty lightweight. the blue is darker than the promotional shots from there website. one thing that does bug me is that on targus website the surface on the from looks flawless and smooth. the actual case has its minor bumps and you can see the outline of whatever is underneath the surface material (that might be a non-issue for most people but my previous case was a 23 1/2 portenzo case and the quality difference is noticeable, but then again that case is $100.) one thing that occurred to me when seeing the water repelling shots on the website was that the material would have to be rather plastic like in order to repel water, the actual case is more cloth like than i expected and that is welcomed surprise.
 
Post pics! How much darker is it?

The pictures on the website were clearly rendered or photoshop, as all the colors had the exact same water drops on them.

Post some pics please. The material feels like cloth but it's a special rubber composite material as directly per Targus (I asked on FB).
 
I received the indigo Slim Case this morning. My first thought was $50 for this? Maybe it'll prove to be worth its price. :)

I noticed right away that this case is light weight! Targus originally posted a weight of 1.02 lbs on their website. Then, they changed it to about 10 oz. I don't see a weight on their site now. I put the slim case on my kitchen scale & it comes in at 6.6 oz.

None of the pictures really grabbed the color of the case correctly (at least on my monitor). It's not a true denim/indigo blue.

I think that about every case I look at. All I want is a plastic case with a smart cover. Everything I have found is ~$50.

Edit: I wonder what the Monoprice case will feel like. It's worth trying...

Same here. I would probably almost rather get the ones that just go on the back and let you use a smart cover but even those (Targus VuComplete and Incipio Smart Feather) are $40 and $35 respectively. That's way too much for a back cover when you consider the smart covers are $30 or $70, bringing your total case cost to $70 or $110. WAY too much.

lol! You're point shows how much of a "value" the $50 cases are that do essentially the same thing. :D I don't think that's quite what we were going for. ;)

I have a sleeve from my original that I'll use while I wait for all of the cases to get sorted out. Remember the camera fiasco with the iPhone 4? I have a feeling that some companies are going on general size and the 'give' of some cases and that they won't fit 100%. The camera will be our give away since it may need a larger cut out.

I know right. But that was what pushed me towards getting the slim, to "save money" :p
