Yeah. Literally nothing in the screenshot refutes anything I said.
Okay bud. Whatever you say. I forget exaggeration is your thing.
Anyways…..next.

Well it is sorta of European etiquette thing. Like, when you try to send iMessage to someone first thing they would think “OMG why tf are you sending me those clunky SMS?”. Everyone from Netherlands to Germany and France uses WhatsApp – businesses, people, schools etc.

Eastern Europe meanwhile is a whole different thing. They are all using Telegram. Probably unsafe but they love it because they also subscribe to their favorite news channels there

Thankfully I was able to use my preferred messaging app since WhatsApp is inferior and I didn’t go off off the perception macrumors users try to portray that no one uses iMessage when clearly they do.

According to stats, iMessage has about 35 percent of market share so clearly there is a subset of people in the U.K. who do.

35 percent of roughly 70 million people is about 25 million so that’s not a small number.

Yeah, the idea that Apple is significantly more expensive than their competitors has always been a bit over exaggerated, but never more so than today.
When you can get a brand new iPad for under $300, the Apple Watch SE is literally on sale right now for $150 and you can easily find an M1 MacBook Air or even an M2 MacBook Air in the $500-$600 price range, it’s a bit hyperbolic to say anything like that.
At this point, the only actual android phones tablets and computers that are significantly cheaper than apples, are the ones that are obviously that cheap because they are terrible products.
Thinking of the awful Amazon basics, Walmart tablets etc, those are absolutely cheaper than what apples offering, but when you buy a $90 tablet you get what you’re paying for.
Ads on the home screen and such that you literally have to perform hackery to get rid of.
Your actual high-quality stuff, your galaxy S25U and your Galaxy Tab S9s etc, are basically the exact same price as apples, give or take maybe $100.
Same goes for pretty much every other product category as well, even Google‘s new TV streamer is *only $29 cheeper** than an Apple TV.
It’s the In thing for anti Apple/iPhone users to be hyperbolic especially (and ironically) on Macrumors lmao though I am not surprised.

I had somebody me here try to and tell me Apple grossly overpriced their phones compared to Samsung and Google lmao.

Apple charges $100 more for their iPhone 16 pro max compared to the s24 ultra lmao. And only $50 more than the pixel 9 xl.

By the time you’re spending in that price range $50-100 difference really isn’t that big of a deal.

But of course bc it’s Apple they get criticized lmao.

I still remember a time I wasn’t just the only teen with an iPhone, I was the only person in my entire school with an iPhone, period. Everyone was excited to see it in those days

I think Apple cares and still have a lot of work to do. Imagine your grandkids getting an iPhone and an iMac. What if they want to play games? They might prefer hardware, software, and services from Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony, which are better than what Apple offers. When they're at school, they'll likely use MS Office or Google Workspace, since Apple's apps and services are limited for educational environments. And when their friends share Spotify playlists or watch series and movies on Disney+, they'll probably use those services too.
When they are old enough and certainly have a steady job they can get what they want, until then, in my case, they will be using Apple hardware. And I think at that point they won't switch. My kids use windows at work, they come home and use their macs. No "pcs" in those houses. YMMV.

I agree that Apple has better sound quality, but a lot of people won't notice it, considering they use bluetooth earbuds.

Regarding integration, although AirPlay 2 is very popular, the same can be said of Spotify Connect. One advantage of Spotify Connect is that it streams music directly from Spotify's servers. This means your phone's battery isn't drained by the streaming process.
If the device is playing media from a net stream, airplay just hands over the resource url. The only time the media is downloaded to the casting device is if the service is using a non-standard streaming protocol or the device is casting a screen-mirror or desktop extension.

I'd be curious as to where the survey was carried out, it sounds like a small demographic, that or teenagers have more money than adults.

I think everyone uses the word “innovative” as some buzzword but do they really know what it means when it comes to their phone? How is your Google pixel innovative, compared to the iPhone?

I think it’s silly to be upset about the iPhone 17 when it’s not even announced yet. All we have is rumor so we only know what the rumors are. They could be completely wrong.
I am not upset about anything. I feel Apple is downgrading materials therefore why would anyone upgrade?

The Pixel isn’t more innovative per se. The thing is it’s easier to use, looks nicer, doesn’t have an island. But it has drawbacks of not being locked into an anticompetitive ecosystem, also. The problem is some regulation is needed to stop the abuse of consumers by companies specifically like Apple and Tim Crook.

Interesting to see the various numbers. Not surprised with the popularity of iPhones and also the low viewership of TV+ among teens. Don't think Apple will have a free tier for Apple Music.

Based on rumors?

Most smart phones are not. This is just a buzz word. The only innovation I can see is folding phones and that technology is new.

The thing is it’s easier to use, looks nicer, doesn’t have an island.
I think these are relative to the user. Looks is always subjective and yes, I’ll agree with the island.

At this point, the only lock in for the iPhone is the App Store. Everything else you can use a non-Apple product for. Most people don’t because the Apple products are generally better, but if for some reason you feel you don’t want to be locked in you can do that.

It’s similar to your pixel where you’re locked into the Google ecosystem. It’s easier just to use the default Google products but you can go elsewhere.

I literally know none of these people calling me or messaging me lmao.

Not even sure where this area code is from.

There’s also some weird xxx spam I’ve gotten

Never had a spam message on Whatsapp, I get them on iMessage though 🤷‍♂️

"Because Spotify has a free tier, it's still the most popular service overall, with 65 percent of teens using it."

I don't know why apple doesn't offer a "free" ad supported tier for apple music.

I couldn't find any documentation or information showing that AirPlay 2 works the way you described. Could you share a link?

Looks like there are cases where young people don't get to choose the device they want. They have to go with what their parents or grandparents give them, even if it's not their preference.

They are in a market where their main competitors are Apple, Google and Amazon, three of the biggest companies in the world and they have double the market share of any of them.

When legal music streaming appeared in Germany, the three relevant options were Simfy (dead), WiMP (it’s TIDAL now) and Spotify. I think the “early adopters” traction has a big role here.

I think the core business thing is a big part of it.

No coincidence that in both TV streaming and Music the companies where it is their core business (Spotify/Netflix) lead the market.

Amazon/Apple treat their services like a loss leader, ecosystem add on that don't really get much attention.

As far as I can see here (as a non-user of music streaming services), Apple Music is more than just the unloved stepchild. It's just that Apple doesn't rely on overly dominant advertising for this, it earns its money with cooler things than exploiting artists like Spotify does.

Correct. Young people should only get some choices in life as you point out they are “young”. They get the hand me downs.

My family uses iPhones, iPads, AirPods, apple Watch, apple TV and Macs. I use windows.

It seems there is some subtext in your post against Apple being the go to. People like Apple products - what can I say.

when teens have to pay for a phone themselves, they will consider switching to android
Fixed that for ya. That's because android is a better value, especially the mid-range. You get 90% of the features of the flagship at 25-50% of the price. Custom ROM and it's better [IMO]; faster with no bloat.

High end Android ain't worth it, IMO. Maybe it's because I don't make my phone my whole identity.🤷‍♂️
