And their producing dozens of them, if any at all, at this time, while losing money on them. Congratulations
Tesla reported its first fully profitable year in January last year after 18 years . So 18 years “while losing money on them, congratulations.” Unit cost at start of production, always a loss. Again, ask Tesla. Production ramp-up is never an instant-on. Do you really think Ford won’t move the Lighting at full-scale production? And profitably? They kind of know a thing or two about trucks. Tesla is doing great, but Ford sold as many F150s last year as Tesla sold vehicles. Yes, Congratulations.

so compare a iPhone 5 to the iPhone 13 and tell me that the model S has changed more. Tesla updates their products in the same way

maybe apple just needs to announce their products 3 years before they are capable of making them.
I mean visually speaking I haven’t been impressed by any phone in many years. Only so much you can do with a slab of metal/glass etc, anyway.

What a weird comment from this person. I do not think Tesla's look that great and their interiors are boring. Also didn't Tesla once approach Apple to see if Apple would buy them?

Hes not wrong though, Since Tim Cook Apple has played it very safe and has not really done a lot of exciting updates to the iPhone for example. The X was the big leap but since then innovation has stalled. The Apple Watch as well. I upgrade annually, but lets be real, Apple has not innovated in a long time.
Not false yet not fair. Apple is dealing with established products, Tesla is in a new market with a product line to establish. Apple can’t enter a new product category every year. With that said, we quickly forget innovative products launched under cook. Apple Watch series, iPhone X gen, MagSafe on iPhone, AirPods line, M1 Macs, All apple services.

If you look to the looks of a device perhaps not much has changed but internally that is where the innovation lies.

Tesla sure did but Tim Cook wasn’t having it with Apple.

I think both companies are successfully in their own way.

Oh the irony, coming from the company whose best design was a clone of another car (Lotus Elise), and being run by one of the worst human beings after maybe only Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos.

It's a bit like listening to Tim Cook to get news about future Tesla models, or listening to Kim Kardashian to know about the next Space X flight.

Don't fix what's not broken. Though regarding iPhones the camera bump needs to go and preferably half the weight of the Pros. The form factor is just fine and the notch is a non issue.

And design wise the current Teslas and even the future Roadster are basically the same car + stretch tool. So if I was von Holzhausen I'd keep quiet.

hello, macrumors users. no need to get offended. they attacked apple, not you.

you'd think people around here are acting like this guy punched their dog and slept with their spouse.

what's fascinating is this forum mostly just gets excited about rumors themselves, and generally doesn't find that apple innovates much these days.

the new MBP was *mostly* well received. i personally think ditching the touchbar was silly because instead of spending years violently crying about its existence, i got use out of it. and making it obese just to put in an obsolete version of an hdmi port after we already had usb-c adapters was a step back to the stone age.

the person who made these comments *is not* wrong. no idea why there's some absurd defense of apple that usually never occurs around here.

I love how he says he uses the Apple Watch for it’s “Health Benefits, but that’s it.”….THAT’S it?! ? As if his health is no big deal. ?‍♂️ Whatever. I am so used to people saying Apple has lost it’s innovational & design edge since Jobs died & Ives left. It’s almost become cliche. Perhaps Tesla is getting nervous about the Apple Car? ?

He's spot on about the Apple Watch. I finally broke down and got a Series 7 to see if I have any use for it. The fitness features are literally the only thing I use. I can't imagine any other uses for that thing. Franz is right about Apple's lack of innovation, of course, but that's mainly due to Jobs spoiling us with visionary leaps in design and ideas. Cook is just a typical old CEO who just guides the moneymaking machine to make more money.

Lol, I always have a little giggle when I see Tesla and Apple go at it, well I guess it’s more Tesla than Apple that keep sniping, yet I feel like if these two were to join forces and have a working agreement the way Google and Apple do, some awesome stuff would come out of it all, but Elon and gang choose “violence” ?

This is quite funny. There is so much deep irony in the Tesla dude’s comment.

Apple products: announce product either when it ships and is actually in stores or slightly ahead. Actually ship. Rabid fanboys happy.

Tesla products: announce product way before time, actually charge people for it. Still haven’t delivered five years later and trying to sell upgrades and patches instead. Rabid fanboys happy.

The difference here is Tesla actually managed to sell attention for cash and get rabid fanboys to defend it while delivering broken **** or no **** at all and then defending themselves by telling everyone else that another vendor in a different market’s products aren’t vapourware.

Tesla sounding like Microsoft here. Bad Microsoft. No banana.

Business 101 - if you've got a hit product, don't change it much (see coke, ketchup, google, iPhone)
Business 102 - if someone else has got a hit product, copy them and build on it, which is why Teslas look like Toyotas

I love when big companies bash other big companies! <3 make the world buuuuuuurn!!!

My Apple stuff is great. Significantly better than the alternates, in my opinion.
My Tesla is great. Significantly better than the alternatives, in my opinion.

The bits that infuriate me on both are directly due to the ethos/culture of the companies. They are two peas in a pod.
