Those are just his opinions but here are some hard cold facts.

1. Tesla makes good EVs but average cars.
2. They are over hyped and over valued and will find it really hard to compete once tax benefits for EVs dry up.
3. Elon Musk is a giant turd. Tim Cook is just a shrewd boring business exec in comparison.
tax benefit for tesla already dried up.

Holzhausen is responsible for designing the Tesla Model S, the Model 3, the Model X, and the Model Y, along with the unreleased Cybertruck. He has been with Tesla since 2008, and before that, he was the chief of design at Mazda and led the design of the Mazda Kabura concept car.
Ironically it was years after he left Mazda in 2008 that Mazda began producing some of the best looking cars in the industry. I guess this explains why Teslas look like rehashes of the 2009 Mazda6.

Clearly he is not waiting for an imac 27" apple silicon
Realistically, it's an iMac with a beefed up iPhone chip in it. You know, the chip series that's up to version 15 now. The one that Steve Jobs was responsible for, may that genius rest in peace. Apart from that innovation, that Steve thought of quite a while back, Tesla are pretty much right. And Apple's software, especially macOS, the heart of the iMac, continues to have disheartening, negative innovation year after year, as more and more bugs are introduced, and more and more useful features and options are removed, with every new release. And when you buy a new Mac, you are forced to use only the newest macOS release, chock full to the brim with all those lovely new bugs.

I take less issue with the actual content of the statement than the irony of it coming from Tesla's lead designer.

Exactly this. What he says is true, but Tesla are guilty of the same thing. They release a product then refine, keeping the same overall design.

Apple isn't finished yet... what a closed-minded moron, made blind to the future by his own fanboyism.

Calling these “facts” doesn’t make them facts. All 3 are your (ver subjective) opinions. Here are some of mine:

1. Ignoring the electric aspect, Tesla is pretty innovative when it comes to the car interior user experience compared to incumbent car makers. Not everything pan out but I like their minimalist designs. Their safety focus is a big plus as well and even among EVs it stands out. That said, fit and finish is still terrible and their service times still need a lot of work.
2. In areas where EV benefits already dried up Tesla is still seeing pretty strong sales. Their direct to consumer sales model is a big improvement over the dealership model and since Tesla is still considered an aspirational brand consumers are typically willing to pay a little more. At this point demand is still outstripping supply by quite a bit.
3. Elon Musk makes questionable decisions and comments but he is product person who is deeply involved in the R&D and who is capable of getting people really excited about the things he sells. Tim Cook isn’t a product person but he has done really well entrenching Apple’s manufacturing, distribution and sales network in strong positions around the world. Apple and Tesla are in different stages of growth, and it’s not that useful to compare the CEOs.

And how exactly are Telsas not exactly the same thing? Their only strongly differentiated product (the CyberTruck) is probably only going to ship in like 2028 at this point, and everything else is just an incremental update to the previous one.

I guess there's a couple ways to look at it.. The smaller way is with iPhones, iPads, and Macs. And sure, I can see his point in a way but this is by necessity. These are all established as the best in their respective classes. The best phone, the best tablet, and the best computers. So small aesthetic things are gong to change but not enough that people don't get the function they're expecting. I love that Apple is putting colour back in. The latest iMac is the best I've felt about Apple's design in a LONG time. I think the new MacBook Air is going to be a HUGE seller, if it's based off the design language of the iMac. I was also getting tired of the aluminum/metal industrial look across all of Apple's devices.

The larger way to look at it is that Apple haven't introduced an entirely new class of device in a while (since the AppleWatch). And I'd say there, we have a lot more to look forward to – and far more unknowns. These aren't rectangles. The mixed reality headset is the biggest one and their car is the other. Those are 2 products over the next 10 years (probably). These are THE things to look forward to, as far as design goes. Entirely new form factors and new methods of interacting.

I wouldn't dismiss what this person from Tesla has done. The Tesla cars are competently designed and owners LOVE them. They love them in a way that few brands have ever achieved. And the Cybertruck was an incredibly brave design that a lot of people are excited about. It's not my cup of tea, but it's definitely grown on me. I'm not as allergic to the design as I was, though it's still not *my* aesthetic.

All in all, I'd chalk this up to trash talking. They'd prefer all the hotshot new industrial designers apply to Tesla instead of Apple.

At least Tesla customers have FSD to look forward to... I totally agree. Tim is an operator, not an innovator. That's not to crap on Tim, under his control Apple has become the most valuable company in the world. But it's not the market leader in innovation. Sure, the AR/VR stuff is going to be cool, and the Apple Car could be great, but Apple has changed from the crazy innovation shop it was under Steve to the crazy efficiency shop it is under Tim.

I have a feeling Apple and Tesla will never get along at this point.
They are just angry because of all the competition is stealing their marketplace so they shoot barbs at other companies doing extremely well.

Have a look at this article showing how many electric vehicles a buyer can choose from. 2022 will be year that tests Tesla's profitability.
