You won't keep your warranty. As soon as you modify your phone's software in any way it is voided. However, using iTunes to restore eliminates any proof of jailbreak.

Thread updated to include the following changes:

- New links to unofficial Mirror Downloads for Pwnage and QuickPwn
- New Version number of Pwnage, QuickPwn and yellowsn0w
- Inclusion of new 2.2.1 firmwares & links for 1st Gen iPhone and iPhone 3G with respective baseband versions
- Change of thread title
- New links to the Official torrent download.
- Warning to iPhone 3G owners about new baseband in 2.2.1

If anything seems missing or broken, please post so I can get on fixing it.

Because yellowsn0w is only for iPhone 3G. You need to use BootNeuter.

unlocking 3 G Iphone with firmware 02.30.03

I just bought an 3G Iphone with firmware 02.30.03, and I want to unlock it but nobody could do it for me. Does anybody have any suggestion of how to unlock this new version? Also under CARRIER in my phone it's listed as NULL, is that mean I don't have a carrier register to the phone? or the phone haven't been activated by any provider. Thanks

Because you never activated the phone. You need a firmware that is already activated. After that it should work.

You have to create one, using Pwnage tool.

But when I tried using that it seemed as if it was trying to do the same thing the quickpwn does. Is there like a special step or something I'm missing? ... I use a mac 10.5.5

Hello!

I have a question:
If i jailbreak my iPhone 3G and then afterwards restore it, then will the jailbreaking leave a mark into the phone. Somekind of change or will my iPhone be as good as new and in the beginning.

Pwnage lets you customize your firmware before its placed on the iPhone. Quickpwn just jailbreaks you. With the Pwnage approach you can pretty much make sure what ever change you need in your firmware is there. For example, QuickPwn in my experience has always left the iPhone unactivated. So solve this I just created an activated .ipsw with Pwnage and problem solved.

If you jailbreak, then use iTunes to Restore, no trace will be left behind that your phone was ever jailbroken.

re installing iphone

Gday all from Australia

I've had my iphone for about 3mths now its a 3g 16gb updated to 2.21. Initially had a few problems not switching on, blank screen, etc took it back got a new one, then it stuffed up as well, got it back an they tech's said there was nothing wrong with it, said that they re bricked it.....whatever that means. Anyway I'm not the most computer savvy dude, what I would like to know is how I can reinstall my ph onto a different hard drive on my computer. As it stands its on my C drive which is 40gb this is where I've always placed all programs that i've installed. I now want to reinstall it on my D drive as its a 250gb hd an I have up to 70gb worth of music vids etc that I want to put on there that i cant for obvious reasons. I tried to take the itunes .exe file copy it to the d drive but it just didn't seem to work, an i cant seem to find the iphone.exe........ like i said not real tech on the computer know a bit but not enough. Any help would be much appreciated..

Unfortunately you stumbled upon an iPhone forum, on a Mac-focused website but I'll give it a try.

If you are doing what I think you want, you can't simply move an installed program from one drive to another. You'll need to back up your iTunes Library (playlists, ratings, etc), reinstall iTunes on your new drive, copy over the media files, restore your Library and hopefully that should do it. :)

Have you personally used the tethering on a Mac regularly? I've used PDAnet WiFi, but I have yet to find a good way to tether. What have your results been like?

I have personally used this method and can vouch 100% it works, and is seemless and flawless.

I have a 1st Gen iPhone so the max speeds I get are EDGE, but still, it makes a huge difference where as compared I had to closely monitor my 3G data card connection to not go over the pesky 5 GB cap.

The iPhone does get a little warm but nothing exagerated like boiling stuff. If your iPhone does get very hot discontinue use.

Overall, it is a very safe and great method. However, like the guide says, don't use it as your main Internet connection and don't torrent off it. Your carrier might notice the spike.
