I’ve yet to actually see anyone actually owning a folding phone.
I know one person. She's on her third replacement. Most recently went to the beach and sand got into the crease.

Samsung didn't wait. They had giant screens and high refreshes that sucked batteries dry, OLED that burned in, wireless charging that failed unless precisely aligned with coil, NFC before anyone used it the US. They won all of those races before anyone else realized there was a race.Well we waited for bigger screens, high refresh rates, oled, wireless charging, NFC, to name a few.
...
Yes, but how'd the phone hold up?
Hey Samsung, yes - they’ll wait, and if it’s worth doing, they’ll do it better than you 😂
Samsung this week released a new anti-Apple "On the Fence" ad that once again targets Apple's lack of foldable devices. In the spot, a man sits on a fence overlooking a retail store designed to look like an Apple Store.
"Hey, what are you doing up there?" asks an Apple-like employee. "You can't sit on the fence." "But on the Samsung side, they have folding phones and epic cameras," replies the man. His speech attracts another "Apple" customer interested in foldable devices, while the fake Apple employee tries to talk him out of leaving. "We're waiting for all that to come over here," explains the employee.
"Why? It's already over there," replies the potential Samsung customer. "Because that's what we do. We wait," says the fake Apple employee.
Samsung has a long history of poking fun at Apple in its ad spots and insulting Apple devices in order to promote its own products. Samsung's Anti-Apple ads have picked up in recent months, with Samsung focusing heavily on the fact that Apple has not yet come out with a foldable device.
Samsung in September, for example, launched a first-to-foldables campaign mocking the iPhone's lack of innovation while promoting Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip features. "What's the hold on the Fold, Apple?" Samsung asked. Samsung also encouraged people to "join the Flip side," choosing a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip device over the iPhone 14 models.
There's no word as of yet on when Apple might come out with some kind of foldable device, and Samsung has indeed been selling foldable smartphones since 2019. Early Fold devices had a long list of issues with screen quality and durability, which perhaps explains why Apple has waited to come out with a foldable device.
Newer foldables from Samsung are more durable and have fewer issues, but continue to have high price points ranging from $900 for the latest Z Flip to $1,600 for the latest Z Fold.

Samsung marketing (and most others' marketing) only works with big numbers. The complaints here represent .01% of Apple users. Besides, they don't want to go head to head with Apple support.Samsung is obsessed with Apple like a crazed abandoned lover. But if Samsung wants to make good attack ads, they should fire their marketing and just come here for ideas where numerous actual users make valid and scathing criticisms against Apple products and policies. Here they can also find almost endless examples of customer service nightmares, software bugs, and hardware quality issues. Also complaints about overpriced products and services, meaningless upgrades, etc. They have so much to pick from, instead of making up desperate and silly ads.
yah, the first Samsung foldable were nicknamed the crinkle crack and oopsIt’s true. If you want a foldable phone running android Samsung has the best one on the market. If you want a foldable phone.
I don’t Tim Cook can handle the pressure of not delivering a bad product so I expect an apple foldable at some point.
I live in rural area and just left an office where a colleague has the Flip. And, yes she loves it. Really worth checking out if in the market for a new phone and not locked into the ecosystem currently. I know I will.I’ve yet to actually see anyone actually owning a folding phone.
You say this now because it's Samsung mocking Apple, but did you also feel this way when Apple mocked PCs with their Get a Mac ad campaign?Promoting your products by mocking others is just so distasteful imo. I’ve never understood brands that do this, and Samsung seems bent on doing it with Apple right now. If anything it makes me NOT want your products even more…
Some of those ads were cringy too but most were genuinely entertaining. I used to love watching those ads back when I was a major Linux geek (I used PCs with Linux as my primary OS from 2004 through 2013). It was working at a startup that bought Macs for all their devs that finally got me to switch to Mac myself rather than the ads. I just found the Mac vs PC ads to be genuinely entertaining, unlike these Samsung ads. I get what Samsung is going for, and the notch ad was kinda funny, but their execution in most of these ads is simply terrible.Uh ... are you familiar with the entire Apple vs. Microsoft commercials starring Justin Long? All's fair in playful advertising.
We wait until we find a way to not have creases in our screens. We wait to try and get it right. Does anybody out there want their surgery to be quick or done right. Oh, and why do we need folding phones? Crazy first world problem.
