This is one of Samsung's better anti-Apple ads... more in line with the comedic tone of the "I'm a Mac / I'm a PC" ads. More of a mocking of Apple than its customers than their previous ads. The endearing thing about the "Get a Mac" ads was that the two actors represented the products, *not* the people using them. Whenever they brought in a third person to represent the customer that person was never mocked for their having been a PC user, but rather was shown switching. Many of the past Samsung ads have been very pointedly calling Apple customers stupid in a passive-aggressive way. This one only really makes fun of the Apple Store employee, but the other people are shown as wanting to switch -- this is a much better tone than past ads.

Still does not make me want a foldable Samsung phone though.

Apple has been removing failure-points on phones…the headphone jack, and recently the SIM-card slot.

Adding a folding feature would be adding *several* potential failure points (the screen itself, the screen covering, the internals) and also adding places for liquid and dirt to intrude.

It’s also adding an extra step (unfolding the phone) before being able to use it, making the logical assumption that most users would carry such a device folded.

Therefore, I see a “folding phone“ as a gimmick fighting a losing battle to justify itself.

This is Samsung getting as much mileage as they can out of the idea they've fabricated that the majority of people want folding phones.

Samsung this week released a new anti-Apple "On the Fence" ad that once again targets Apple's lack of foldable devices. In the spot, a man sits on a fence overlooking a retail store designed to look like an Apple Store.

"Hey, what are you doing up there?" asks an Apple-like employee. "You can't sit on the fence." "But on the Samsung side, they have folding phones and epic cameras," replies the man. His speech attracts another "Apple" customer interested in foldable devices, while the fake Apple employee tries to talk him out of leaving. "We're waiting for all that to come over here," explains the employee.

"Why? It's already over there," replies the potential Samsung customer. "Because that's what we do. We wait," says the fake Apple employee.

Samsung has a long history of poking fun at Apple in its ad spots and insulting Apple devices in order to promote its own products. Samsung's Anti-Apple ads have picked up in recent months, with Samsung focusing heavily on the fact that Apple has not yet come out with a foldable device.

Samsung in September, for example, launched a first-to-foldables campaign mocking the iPhone's lack of innovation while promoting Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip features. "What's the hold on the Fold, Apple?" Samsung asked. Samsung also encouraged people to "join the Flip side," choosing a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip device over the iPhone 14 models.

There's no word as of yet on when Apple might come out with some kind of foldable device, and Samsung has indeed been selling foldable smartphones since 2019. Early Fold devices had a long list of issues with screen quality and durability, which perhaps explains why Apple has waited to come out with a foldable device.

Newer foldables from Samsung are more durable and have fewer issues, but continue to have high price points ranging from $900 for the latest Z Flip to $1,600 for the latest Z Fold.

Why would anyone want this folding phone? It's twice as thick and the fold is super visable... I don't get it at all and a terrible add.. Boo Samsung

You know they’ve taken smartphones as far as they can when they start thinking, “hey, let’s go back to flip phones.” Is there really a huge market for foldable screens that show creases and wear?

Yeah. Apple “waits” until they can perfect the technology, and then they CRUSH the competition. Happens all the time. When Apple finally comes out with a foldable iPhone, it will be better & sell better than the Samsung. 😉

What can one expect here, but blind but blind Apple fanboy-ism?.
Just accept it. Innovation at Apple is dead.
After a couple of years of reluctance I am sold on foldable phones. They are epic with 3 screens!!.
iPhone cameras for photos are not bad but not great, they are plain boring and mediocre for the price range (zoom, noise, sharpness, etc. are OK, but not great).

How about notch-less phones? Or “dynamic island-less in the middle of the screen phones”?. iPhones are good but they have stayed the same since forever.

I chose the galaxy fold 4 for my work phone. Honestly, at first it was exciting. After the initial excitement wore off I realized what I had. Nothing. The display looks like plastic, feels like plastic and in my opinion is horrible. Then there is all this customization folks think they want. Menu after menu, choice after choice of crap I never thought to have, never wished for and realized would never use, let alone remember where the settings were. I was happy to have my iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Someone accused me of not recognising sarcasm. I think I just saw it. "Can't innovate my arse"! 😂😂😂

Look at me! I’ve got a foldable phone! I can have 2 creased screens to warp my tainted view of Apple. See I can do sarcasm, just like the best of them. 😂😂

I’ve yet to actually see anyone actually owning a folding phone.
Funny timing, just last night I saw one for the first time out in the wild. I did a double take, not because it was cool or anything, but because I thought for a second I had stepped into an augmented reality tech review.

We wait until the tech works properly and then we sell millions more than you 🤣

Samsung is embarrassing themselves. How’s that crease on your “4th gen” foldables Samsung? Even the Chinese are outinnovating you with better folding mechanism to minimize the crease. Too bad they’re mostly China only, so lucky you Samsung.

I don’t know personally someone with a foldable, but even in my country, they’re getting more and more common in the wild. Anybody who use non-Apple phone as status symbol will get the Fold as it’s Samsung’s most expensive phone.

Apple needs to provide a sandbox that can run android apps on iPhone that way all your pre-existing apps and games will cross over.
Either that or provide a matching app purchase on the App Store from their Google account.

This just means that Apple is identified as the industry leader. Those who are not often try to "sell against" the leader in their ads. You rarely see it the other way around.

Samsung is just doing to Apple the same thing Apple did to MS when MS was the heavyweight (the famous "I'm a Mac" ads with Justin Long).

Now that Apple's the heavyweight, the roles are reversed, so you've got both Samsung and Intel running ads against it. Of course, Apple's been considered the industry leader in phones for a while, so Samsung has been doing this to Apple since 2011.

Do you live in a rural area?
No, in an upscale, high tech employment dominated suburban area of a very large city. And I work at a very large employer that is internationally renowned for development of cutting edge technology.

If Samsung wants to make fun of the iPhone, they should do an ad featuring the out of focus glitch, when scanning barcodes, through apps & show how it’s just one big blur.
