All these years of Samsung vs. Apple phones and it always seems to me like Samsung's ads are vaguely insulting to iPhone users. Does the strategy of being condescending to your target market really work?

Yeah, it would be different if the "Apple side" was Apple Store workers vs. regular customers. Makes it sound like the average Apple user is just a mindless lemming or something.

And before someone says it--yes, there are people like that with every popular company (extreme fanboys/girls), but they're in the minority.

I know two people with the new Fold 4.

They actually feel AND look quite nice. Software is quick, with lots of double dipping on software, as usual for a Sammy phone.

The fold technology is finally legit. I also liked the last Note as well.

Total hands-on time was 30 minutes.

I would be okay with one, but would not pay for one, and I do not mind Apple’s Walled-Garden approach, thought this new push for ads EVERYWHERE has me worried.

I liked the hardware company 🏢 Apple was, not the services company it has become.

Companies will have a lot of job to do to convince me that a foldable phone is better than a non-foldable.

Foldable phones should stay where they belong : in the 90s.

Samsung users still waiting for the latest Android update.... smh. Trickle that update down, one phone at a time. Maybe you'll get lucky, spin the wheel, will your Samsung device get Android 13? Say what you will.... Apple releases an update its available, done. Samsung? New phones only first! The previous gen another month, the previous previous gen, another month. The A-series cheaper line, multiple months. Such a mess, I guess they can fold their phones up and down though.

Samsung needs to stop targeting Apple and worry about their real competition: Google.

Well we waited for bigger screens, high refresh rates, oled, wireless charging, NFC, to name a few.
I was blown away with OLED screens, high refresh rates.
I can't believe how i lived without these.
sarcasm, i don't notice much difference.

Apple was using NFC they just didn't open it to third party due to security reasons.
I think every company has their own preferences.
Ex: Samsung says don't use face ID for payments.
Bigger screens: don't need any new technology, probably Apple was worried about battery life, they didn't want to ruin battery life.
OLED screens: Apple would need large quantities to make a shift to OLED, they won't do it till they are confident that they have reliable supply.
i read in news that Apple worked with LG to setup a OLED factory for just apple and invested $4B.

I don't notice the crease unless it's on the table and there's glare. But I don't watch things on my phone. I'm guessing videos that have dark scenes, you might notice it more?
Industrial Design team at Apple would probably reject any design with any crease.

Samsung advertising is improving. While still competitor focused, at least it has a good and clearly articulated point.

Problem in putting Apple in the center of the Samsung ad is that people will be asking WHY do "we wait". And they will come up with very credible reasons.

Samsung should instead keeping the focus on the leading idea and principles that drive the customer benefits. That is way more powerful. This is what Apple does and they do not need to name competitors.

Samsung could laser focus on "putting the user on charge", "treating users like adults", "not taking control", "not trying to parent the user", "freedom".... That would be sustainable due to being orthogonal to Apple's privacy where Apple is "forced" to limit what user can do to prevent them from shooting themselves to foot.
Samsung quickly copied Face ID, it is still not as secure as iPhone, i think Samsung has options to make it more secure (but this is pain to use) when user makes it less secure then Samsung says don't use for any financial transactions.
Apple won't release anything till they are confident that it is works every time the way it was intended.
I am not saying Apple is perfect, they do make mistakes, but that is their philosophy,
They don't want to be the first just because they want to be.

I still stand by this statement, Do you want a phone that just works or do you want a phone to tinker around with - Personally I just want a set and forget approach where it works and works well. Samsung has been trying for years to do this but Apple already accomplished this task and now they are jealous and throw incoherent rhetoric at apple about this.
Exactly, i was doing all the tinkering before i had kids and had time .
Now i am busy with kids and work so i don't have time for tinkering, most of the time i don't even change wallpaper for months after getting new phone.
i think it is personal preference.
People who like to customize can get Android, people who don't want to can get iPhone.
I don't even care for OLED, high refresh rate screen either, i don't even notice the difference, i care about battery life, and i need small phone, wish Apple made Mini again.
Only thing i notice is screen brightness in direct sunlight on iPhone 14 pro.

See, I really don't understand this, to the point where I find it highly confusing that such an utterly simple concept can't be grasped by so many. The issue that is being solved is you can carry a tablet sized screen with the footprint of a phone, I'm baffled that you simply can't get much more basic than that premise. Just that simple fact, that I have a tablet sized screen when I need it, and a phone sized device when it needs to go in the pocket, that has IMMENSELY created a better user experience for myself.

Now if YOU (and I don't mean you in particular, just in general) don't like the technology, don't like the screen material, or don't find a use to have a larger screen in your pocket, I take no issue with that at all. It's just these continuous "solution in search of a problem" posts that I can't understand. Take the blinders off and see that there are consumers who want something different.
May be not every one want to carry a thick phone that can be used as a tablet ?
at the end of the data it is personal preference.
I prefer iPhone mini, even iPhone Pro is too big and heavy for me.

The similarity between people who buy Samsungs folds and flips, and people buying a set of Mac Pro wheels. They both shout 'look at me, I’m different'.
Very few people purchased mac pro wheels compared to flip phones for sure.
