Ah, 14 years old. There will come a time when you will realize that you cannot freaking see anything on a 13" screen, and then the rationale for a 15" screen or a 17" screen will become clear.

<--- 46, and by the time I am 60, my eyes will be so bad I will need a wall-sized screen.

conclusion.. enjoy your 13" now. iam 13

I am using MBP 17" since 2007 and I found it really hard to use other models. I believe once your eyes get used on the 17" screen, it becomes really hard for them to accept lower resolution screen. I like the 17" since there are a lot of room on screen to do multiple task.
I agree with everyone describe the 17" MBP as a desktop replacement. Even though it is weight 1 kg more than 15" model; I feel myself comfortable while I am carrying it everywhere I take it with me.
If I am going to buy a new MBP, definitely it will the 17" model

The 17 inch does not have any increased ability to run more ram or even a bigger HDD than the 13 inch.

Sure it does. If I had some sick and twisted need for speed I could hook up a fibre channel HBA up to the 17", giving me full to something like an HDS AMS.

I do believe I also mentioned extra screen real estate, and the third USB port.

What are you talking about? Yes you did, and I wasn't referring to either of those. I was talking about you stating that the 17" had "increased RAM capacity" which isn't true. The other parts of your statement are irrelevant.

I stated the max RAM capability as compared to MY current machine. Not Apple's current machine. Mine holds 4GB RAM max. The one I plan to buy holds 8GB max. What part of that statement is false?

No need to be defensive, you listed that in the group of benefits 17" vs. 13" had so how am I suppose to know what you're thinking? Either way, this is clearly a moot conversation.

Defensive? I was accused of making a false claim. I merely clarified my position. Back to our regularly scheduled program.

Haha nah. That 15 has been with me through thick and thin. I picked up the 17" classic for a nice deal I think and it will be gifted to my brother when he starts college. Just going to be playing with it for now.

Since my wife has had problems recently with her Toshiba notebook, maybe I'll suggest she give the ol' MacBook a try once I get my new one. :D

That's why 15" is perfect for me. 17" is huge and 13" is like a toy.

I've been having that debate. Do I really NEED a 17" MBP, or will a 15"MBP suit my needs? It's not so much a replacement for my 13" MacBook, but more like "desktop prevention".

It sits on my desk most of the time and it's certainly big enough.

The 17" is a fully fledged professional machine.

It is the only true 'Pro' laptop in my books due to the resolution and expandability coupled with the Express 34 slot.

I love my 2010 17" with it's Anti-Glare, it is a fantastic machine.

The only thing I will like to accompany it is a 11" MBA for the days I don't need it's power. :)

The only difference between the 15" and 17" is the screen size and Express slot. How is the 17" the only 'Pro' in your view?

The 13" you may have a point, but certainly not with the 15".

The 15" is just a bigger 13" with a bigger screen, and better CPU/GPU.

The 17" with the ExCard slot...well....

I hope this is a joke.

You can have eSATA and USB 3.0 on current gen 15"?

PLEASE tell me how.

What? You said the 13" is basically the same as the 15", which is laughable. I never said the 15" and the 17" didn't have differences, my point was they are much more alike than the 13" and 15".

Is express card really the difference for you between Pro and not Pro? If so, okay, but I find that to be highly subjective. There is no difference whatsoever between the two other than express card and screen size. The latter means nothing because different screen sizes fit different needs and the DPI is basically the same.

It's the resolution - unless you choose the higher resolution on the 15" MBP the standard 1440x900 resolution is shocking.

you guys are very weird people.

the 17" is so portable, infact, its so portable i would even consider getting a 19" mbp if they had those. after maybe 19" then it becomes a desktop replacement.

the 13" is way too tiny, i dont see how anyone can work on that, yes it looks cute, but if i had to use that id either kill myself or smash that several times.

I'd have the urge to hit you if you sat next to me with that thing.
