A rather touching development to have emerged from the sad news about Piermario Morosini.

His parents both died before he turned 18, followed by the suicide of his brother – meaning that Morosini was the sole provider for his severely disabled sister.

Udinese captain Antonio Di Natale has offered to personally take over her guardianship and ensure she's cared for, supported by the club. Hell of a gesture from the guy, kudos to him.

When you read something like this, it shows that there are still good and decent people on this planet.

It made my day.:)

...and Chelsea and Utd get another free one courtesy of the Ref.

Dodgy decisions galore. Another Non-Penalty and Phantom Goal...not that it mattered in the end (thanks for being useless again Spurs )

I think my favourite 'ghost' goal has to be this one (Reading vs Watford):

Ball is not even near the goal line. At least yesterday, there was some attempt to stick it in the back of the net!

don't forget the infamous Thomas Helmer Phantom Goal which even today is a popular interview topic:

0:45 in ... with a few repeats after that...

edit: which was the game winning goal of the game and lead to Nürnberg being relegated ... which meant the game had to be repeated of course ... which Bayern won 5:0 making it even worse

That's a wonderful gesture by Di Natale, it truly brings a little positive energy to what is a heartbreaking situation.

It's great to hear that Muamba is actually leaving the hospital. It is simply an amazing recovery. The doctors and club have been very tight-lipped about just what happened and what it means for Muamba's future. I suspect it's party out of respect for his privacy, but they may not really know. In any case, I'm just glad to see him on his feet again. here's hoping he continues to improve.

Pretty awful stuff, especially when relegation is on the line!

Well, they beat Liverpool and United this season, why not?

It's barely 10 minutes into the game. Wigan will concede eventually I think. A crazy start though!

Giving ourselves a mountain to climb due to stupid complacency. Did they not see Wigan's recent performances and know to be wary. Honestly!

Wigan deserved to win.

We were absolute sh ite. Gervinho still doesn't know how to pass early. Also, can someone remind Ramsey how to play football. Thanks.

Chelsea and Stoke still to play. 3rd place definitely still up for grabs now when we could have sewn it up already by being 11pts clear. Arghh i'm so annoyed!

*sigh*...i need a drink.

Two great (but nerve-wracking) matches in a row as a Wigan fan. If only we hadn't been robbed by the officials against Chelsea, we would have had 5 wins in a row, and probably been safe.

Still, heading in the right direction.

Still, heading in the right direction.

Wigan under Martinez are the poster child for playing football 'the right way' with (relatively) few resources - and also a good example of why most clubs don't do it. The ends always justify the means so playing good football for its own sake is a rather suicidal proposition. At Wigan Martinez has proved it can work, though only just. Their victories over Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal were all deserved even though in each case their opponents played badly.

I think they could just about make it now. Should be a tight run-in though.

I really, really, really hope you guys stay up.

Victor Moses is starting to finally unlock all that potential he has, at just the right time.

Unfortunately, it's got to be just a matter of time before a big club scoops up Martinez. He truly deserves his shot on a big stage, he's an excellent manager.

For Wigan's sake, I hope you're wrong. Just think how good they could be if they kept their talent instead of continually losing it to bigger clubs. Martinez seems fairly loyal to Wigan but I'm sure he could be lured away by the promise of bigger things.

I hope if (when!) Reading get to the PL, we do it like Wigan or maybe Stoke. Don't throw money at everything, keep the club under control and just concentrate on surviving for two or three seasons and build on that.

Tonight I'm heading for the Madejski with my friend who supports Bristol City. Hopefully they can beat/draw with West Ham, and then if we win we're promoted :D
If not, Saturday vs Palace looks a good bet for our celebratory promotion pitch invasion

Wigan and Stoke have not been flashy, but they have survived. Norwich is too early to judge, but the press are in love with their style of play.

Good luck tonight Jaffa...but how are you going to tikki-takka Barnsley to death on a muddy pitch? :D

meanwhile Bayern has taken a 1:0 lead over Real in the first half and from how the game is currently developing they managed to put Real seriously out of their rhythm

nail-biting game so far .. if Bayern can score another one and keep a clean sheet they have a serious shot for making it into the final

edit: and real gets their away goal while continuing their streak of not being able to win in Munich 2:1 in total ... over all a rather fighting game with Ramos and Marcelho being lucky not receiving straight red cards and Bayern being the better squad ... but with this result the game in Madrid will be hard for them unless Bayern can score an early away goal

or of course play just like today ;)

Bayern gets the win, though Real got an away goal. Bayern played good football and they are by no means out of this. It will be interesting to see how the return leg plays out. Real will have to be more aggressive next time out.

Mourinho is on a knife edge at the moment. I think the league is still going to go to Real but they cannot afford to lose any more matches in either competition now.

EDIT: Congrats to cambookpro, Reading are up!

Mourinho reverted to his usual defend for your life after scoring instead of marauding Bayern with all the attacking talent at his disposal. Problem is Ramos, Pepe and Arbeloa aren't as good/disciplined as Lucio, Zanetti and Maicon.

This of course allowed Bayern to pile on the pressure and get the rewards.

Ronaldo again quiet in a big match.
