Nope, it's actually bad news! It means players can leave and we don't have money to buy anybody. And now FIFA are p!$$ed that it ended up in the courts and they do have the power to ban clubs and national teams.

Anyway, you woke me up, I've been keeping a low profile in case one of our American cousins mentioned the 5-1 drubbing at the weekend. Apparently USA played really well and we flattered to deceive.

loved the new US kit. i thought our rankings(US 24th ? and yours 49th? or sommat close to that...) were funny.

Removed my foot from my mouth. At least I get brownie points for not mentioning Scotland being thrashed 5-1 by the USA. D'oh!. It was reported the players were already in holiday mode.

Rangers raising money; sell the film rights?

Cheers,

The 5-1 is a deceptive scoreline, I think USA played very well but Scotland was not at full strength. Landon Donovan has been a little off-form as of late in MLS but against Scotland he woke up.

Still encouraging signs for USA. I think more fans are warming to Klinsmann despite a slow start to his managerial reign.

USA 1-4 Brazil

An incredibly harsh scoreline for this one. I expected to lose, but the scoreline really flatters Brazil, though they deserved to win. They got a cheap penalty inside 10 minutes, and USA were supremely unlucky not to score at least two more goals, possibly three. We played well.

Brazil's finishing was absolutely deadly, and that made the difference. Hulk and Neymar are divers. Marcelo is a steaming pile of excrement. Their keeper was solid.

Brendan Rogers...it fits in with FSG's way of doing things. He's young, favors attractive football, over-performed with Swansea. I hope it works out, Liverpool need stability now.

Wonder what the reaction of other Liverpool fans is about Rodgers?

Personally I'd have thought they'd have gone with someone with more experience in the top flight and European football

In other news, Man U, after being bought by the Americans, now have Chevrolet as their car sponsor:

Does that mean Rooney will have to trade in his R8 for a Matiz? ;)

Seemingly with all that extra cash, Man U are using it to strengthen their midfield:

well put, well spoken. oh, and the keeper was lucky as ***** at least once....

The most important thing to come out of the US-Brazil match though – the shirt numbers have been changed.

In an issue that's important to a lot of fans, the new U.S. red-and-white-striped jerseys got a new number color on Wednesday, switching from hard-to-see light gray to navy blue. It may not seem like a big deal to some folks, but one informed source told me the change could end up costing U.S. Soccer nearly six figures after the federation had made a major purchase of numbers for all U.S. youth and senior teams, men's and women's, in the faulty color. (The snafu wasn't the fault of supplier Nike, which let U.S. Soccer take over the numbering for jerseys a couple years ago.) U.S. Soccer released a statement on Wednesday: "In order to improve the visibility for the television broadcast, the numbers for the game-day jerseys have been enhanced. The design and color remain the same."

So, new England coach Gary Neville wants to stop embarrassing celebrations

Does he mean stopping something like this?

Looks like it will be Rodgers at Liverpool

If it's the 3 years being reported,. Give him 5 years; time to remove players, build a team, and make steady progress - not that I want Liverpool to do well :D. A shorter term may be a sign of the times, but it doesn't seem much of an endorsement. Have Swansea City put a block on Liverpool signing their players this season? Sigurdsson though?

Jaffa Cake - USA shirt numbers - get some infant school pupils to colour them in?

Euros - Lamps is out.

Cheers,

Hulk to Chelsea for £38 million. What does Abramovich think this is, Football Manager in real life?

He may as well be the manager while he's at it. Has there been a high profile owner-manager in a major sport since Connie Mack wore his straw hat and suit in the dugout for the old Philadelphia A's?

You have a point, but I think the length of managerial contracts are almost totally irrelevant anymore.

I agree that he should be given lots of time. These days nobody gives managers enough time.

USA for Euro 2012 champs :D

Austria just won 3:2 against the Ukraine, in their final friendly prior to the world cup... finally a Victory at last

was dissapointed in terms of playing by the Ukraine, both teams seemed rather equal in skill
they have to improve a lot for the tournament

I find the euros more competitive then WC. Looking forward to watching them, afterwards I'll have nothing to look forward to as far as the premier team I follow due to them having no money and being non players in the transfer market.

The European Championships tend to be a bit more unpredictable than the World Cup. Normally it throws up some interesting matches. Can't agree that the US will win it though, sorry Fuzzy – Argentina's a good bet, the way Messi's been playing he's going to tear teams apart.

Meanwhile, our search for a manager continues. A Sky reporter type tweeted that bookies' favourite Steve Bruce is going to be appointed next Wednesday, but the City reporter at the local rag reckons Bruce's agent is saying that there's been no approach for his client.

Hmm.

i think the high quality of play at Euros mostly is connected to the lower amount of teams... in most euro tournaments there always seems to be a lack of real lower tier squads

on the world cup stage there were always those 5-6 odd squads who are way out of their league compared to european or south american squads

but luckily the last 10 years some regions improved massively so i think the other regions will get closer in ability

in other news from a northern german newspaper Ralf Rangnick is rumored to sign as coach for West Bromwich after a year off the game after suffering burnout symptoms at Schalke 04 last year

he would be the first german Premier league coach if the rumors are true

It was mentioned in the local rag on Wednesday.

There have been no updates since but Baggie's striker Simon Cox sounds impressed. :)
