Leicester are splashing the cash around, that's for sure. The pressure will be on them.

Sounds like Leicester are going to splash some of that cash Liverpool's way, in order to acquire the services of Paul Konchesky. While I am not as critical of hims as many have been, he never really showed the level of play we needed from him.

San Jose Earthquakes' keeper David Bingham scored a 90 yard strike in a 2-1 victory over West Brom. Former Hull City netminder Boaz Myhill let Bingham's overhit goal kick bounce over his head and into the net.

Oyy, the Wesley Sneijder saga is doing my head in. David Gill's in Milan negotiating with Inter. No, David Gill's in Vienna negotiating with Sneijder's people. Inter's executives claim Sneijder is unsellable. Inter's new coach claims Sneijder won't fit into his 3-4-3 system. Inter and United have agreed a fee for Sneijder. No, United and Sneijder have agreed on personal terms. No, both are true! No, neither are true! Sir Alex comes out and says United were never interested in Sneijder and he doesn't know where all the rumors are coming from. What a soap opera, but that's to be expected with high profile transfers between big clubs, I guess.

Assuming he does come to United, where does he play? His best position seems to be the one currently occupied by Wayne Rooney: playing in behind the main striker. A 4-2-3-1 with Rooney up front followed by Young, Sneijder, and Nani would be a pretty fantastic attacking four, though that leaves no place for Chicharito. I don't think I've seen Sneijder play in a four man midfield in a long, long time.

That was what I was thinking as well – if Sneijder does move to Old Trafford there'll have to be a bit of reshuffling.

I'm also looking at Liverpool's signings – one quality that Downing, Henderson and Adam all share is the ability to put in a good cross. Is Kenny's plan for his new charges to ping lots of balls in for big Andy Carroll to latch on to, I wonder?

Meanwhile, Fizzy and his fellow Wendies will be wearing the same sponsor as arch rivals Sheffield United next season. The two clubs have agreed a joint sponsorship deal with two local firms, the first time such as thing has happened in England. north of the border of course, Rangers and Celtic have shared a sponsor for a number of years.

Certainly came as a bit of a surprise. Good idea about alternating sponsors between the home and away shirts. That way us t'northerners who still have a B&W TV won't get mixed up and end up cheering on the wrong team ;)

On the subject of new shirts and stuff, today saw the launch of Hull City's new away polyester rags.

Some of you may recall that I wasn't too keen on the launch of the home shirt a month or so back, rushed as it was to try and counter the negative feeling that surrounded the leaking of the new shirt sponsor.

Anyway, today's launch had an idea around it. You see, shirt launches these days often involve a couple of teaser shots, before the reveal with a key player or two sporting the new kit. Some clubs have quite intricate Photoshopped images, others have glitzy events with dry ice and stuff. But not us. Oh no.

Here's the idea. The shirt was unveiled at noon today in the club shop, with no official photography accompanying the launch. Models wearing the kit would then have a walk around the city centre, the notion being that supporters could photograph said models on their phones and upload the pics to Facebook and the like. Okay...

The thing is, it's an awful day here – grey and pouring it down with rain. Furthermore, the models weren't players or even furry club mascot Roary the Tiger – they seem to be a couple of the lads who work in the club shop.

Here then are some shots of the new away kit. I took these from Hull City's official Facebook page so these are, in essence, the closest we currently have to 'official' images...

Here, our intrepid models pose outside a top local eaterie with a passing punter. Nicely applied sponsor, there...

Now, I know you're all wanting to see the socks. Here's another fan-taken snap from the club's official Facebook page...

That's right, your eyes do not deceive you. He's come out to unveil the new kit wearing a pair of slippers.

I despair sometimes. I really do.

Well, at least by going to Corinthians he will actually be closer to his family, rather than signing for one of the Italian teams that were reportidly chasing him

Sneijder; maybe Bryan Robson can get the deal sorted.;) The Dispatches program was more stuff and nonsense than hard hitting; the obvious stated and people throwing names around to impress. Given his ambassador role, Robson looked a chump. As for Sneijder, Modric, Sanchez and Fabregas, my head hurts - miss one episode and

Liverpool; as Jaffa says, get those high balls in.

OllyW; always good to see that kit. The one I have has the black shorts and white socks, but I know white shorts/black socks entered the mix - opposition's strip. The tracksuit bottoms are black with red and white stripes down the side. The home tracksuit was red with black and white stripes - curved like the Coventry City kit of the time.

Saw the women's final from about 50 minutes; 3 out of the 4 goals were good, a nice tension, extra-time, and a penalty shoot-out, not too bad. Commiserations to Lord Blackadder.

Cheers,
OW

Are the new garments finding favour with Wednesday supporters then, pachyderm? I don't think anyone likes ours. :p

the home kit, or what we think is the home kit, is actually proving to be very well accepted. i like it. i have one thing i'd like to change on it but it isn't that big a deal. i'll get one if i can, or at least two for my kids. i actually have a mate who is going over in the fall so i might get him to pick them up.

So then, City players wearing sky blue away next season. But Manchester City will be wearing sky blue at home, of course.

However, Carlos Tevez will not be amongst them. Him gorn to Corinthians.
Pah. Him not gorn.

another look at the hull away kit:
The overall look is okay I think, but your eyes are just drawn to the sponsor patch – it completely dominates the shirt. It should also be pointed out that young Cameron Stewart is wearing a plain shirt in the photo you posted and the logo has been digitally added later (one would assume the sponsor wasn't confirmed at the time of the kit shoot). Cameron's logo is a fair bit smaller than that used on the actual shirt.

Anyway, the season's first bit of meaningful silverware has been won. City beat North Ferriby United 4-1 last night to retain the Billy Bly Memorial Trophy. Hurrah!

Well, I say 'silverware' – the trophy's actually wooden. :D

Meanwhile, word here is that Jimmy Bullard has been suspended for two weeks – apparently the lovable cockney turned up for training in an 'unacceptable state'.

I think that means he was pissed.

Anyway, if he needs something else to occupy him over the next few weeks he could always get his team sorted for the new season's MacRumors Fantasy Football League. That's a shameless plug for all of you lot to get signed up, by the way. ;)
