How many players have to go down with a concussion before the NHL does something serious about it?

Talked to Chara while walking through the North End last night while I was looking for a referenced pizza place and ended up at Mike's instead :)

He was cool. Said his knee wasn't too bad though I read reports this AM saying that he wasn't playing tonight. He was walking just fine.

They were talking yesterday that he would be out for a couple of weeks, so I guess his knee isn't as bad as first thought. Did you come up to his waist?:p

Couldn't find that pizza place, eh?

Helene Elliot (LA Times reporter that covers the Kings) was on HockeyCentral this morning and said that Darryl Sutter will be the Kings next head coach.

Apparently more than Savard, Crosby, Giroux, and all of the ones I'm missing. It's getting ugly.

Actually, I was looking for it and I walked right by him and didn't even notice -- my wife actually recognized him, hit me and said "you seriously didn't just see Chara?" The dude stands out like Big Bird.

I never did find the pizza -- I'll go back later this week and look. Maybe I'll see Lucic -- he lives down there too. Seguin and Caron are living in my neighborhood now. Haven't seen them though. Of course, Caron could punch me in the face and I probably wouldn't recognize him.

Interim coach tonight but the B's are pretty banged up. Chara and Campbell are out and Paille is questionable with a "minor" concussion last week. Campbell and Paille are 4th liners but play a lot of PK mins as does Chara. Kampfer (D) and Caron (F) get starts I'd guess and I'm not even sure who the next F in line would be... Maybe they go to 3 lines tonight.

Hamill's up on emergency recall from Providence. We'll probably see this:

Marchand Bergeron (A) Seguin
Lucic Krejci Horton
Pouliot Kelly (A) Peverley
Caron Hamill Thornton

Seidenberg Boychuk
Ference (A) McQuaid
Kampfer Corvo

Expect the top 3 lines for most of the game.
Seidenberg, Boychuk, and Ference will see A LOT of minutes tonight.

Yeah, this was basically it. Caron didn't play though and Paille did. Not sure why Hamill over Caron. I was watching the lines carefully and it was a bit of a mess. At times guys didn't know who was supposed to be on the ice.

Strange crowd last night, no energy.

No Pronger,no Giroux,no problem;) Can you say Scott Hartnell:rolleyes: And the rookie's play their asses off last night;):D

I think they called up Hamill because they wanted that extra center depth. He has experience at C even though he has been playing on the wing this year. Once they made the emergency call up, I think they wanted to give him a chance in the lineup.

I think they switched up the lines a bunch situationally. It started Pouliot-Peverley-Hamill, Paille-Kelly-Thornton, but I remember seeing Kelly and Pevs out there together at some points too. Got to love having that kind of flexibility.

If there's one guy on Philly that I really can't stand, it's Scott Hartnell :D:p

The Hawks won tonight in a shootout- way too close. Kane scored an amazing goal on Minnesota's goalie- no way anyone could have stopped that.

But Ray Emery keeps giving me heart attacks. IMO, the guy has been more lucky than good. His movement is shaky and lacks confidence.

.......aaaaaannnnndddddd that's what you could expect from Ray Emery.

If you look at tonight's game, the guy tripped himself a few times simply skating backwards, left the net open and got lucky because of the defense. He was visibly shaking in his stance when threatened and looked weak the whole game. The last two games the Hawks won, but not thanks to Emery. He got lucky in the shootout too. I saw him play the last game of pre-season at the United Center and all I could think was, WTF were the Hawks thinking with this guy?

I just watched highlights and that was an amazing goal. It actually made me laugh, almost like he was playing with the guy.

I've been the victim of such things before. It's no fun. And yeah, Kane is fantastic, no doubt. The only way to stop that kind of thing is a poke check. I'm surprised the goalie didn't do that.

bruins played like crap tonight and still won. thats good i guess.

quite a ******** play by mcquaid though... not sure what he was thinking on that. he should get 2 games or so.

^^ yep, ugly all around.

Bergeron's goal against Anderson was pretty sweet. Sorry for the source but couldn't find it on youtube.

It was a ****** play. I did the same thing a couple weeks ago. Poor body position while trying to take away space. That leads to exactly what we saw in mcquaids play.

In my opinion it's more instinctive than an attempt to injure.

Just finished watching the first episode of 24/7 Flyers/Rangers. It was pretty good.....too bad it's about the Flyers/Rangers.:D:D;)

Bryzgalov is a friggin' weirdo.

robo
Sorry about Pronger

Still waiting on Sutter here in LA........

The Habs have fired Jacques Martin........I didn't see that coming. I mean, I see that they aren't doing very well, but I didn't hear a single thing about a possible coaching change.

Leafs let one that they could have won slip away last night. The scoring was there (lost 5-4), but they just couldn't stop Vanek. If we don't start winning more consistently again......maybe it'll be Wilson's time to go.

Weirdo? The understatement of the year.
Best quote was hartnell to Cooke. You're the dirtiest player in the league, good job.
as much as I abhor Pronger it's sad to see another great player sidelined.

And he's the one that said he wouldn't play in Winnipeg if the Coyotes moved there because there's nothing to do, no parks, nowhere to go, nothing.

Strangest guy ever. Friggin' goalies.:p

Yeah, that was pretty awesome. However, it isn't really accurate this season. Cooke's only got 12 PIMs this season, 7 goals 6 assists +1, and has completely turned his game around. I heard an interview with Cooke this week (check out the Dec 14 podcast: http://www.fan590.com/onair/hockeycentral/), and it was a very interesting listen.

Selanne make his return to Winnipeg tonight. It's still unbelievable that he scored 76 goals in his rookie season while he was there.

And everybody's friend Mike Milbury got himself into a little trouble this week:rolleyes:

Mike Milbury charged with assaulting boy at son’s game

Big game against the B's today:cool: I'm going with my boyz;) Sorry Z:p
