Oh, and I'm so glad that Marchand has decided to learn from his mistakes.

He's right though. The league told them one thing at the beginning of the year and now they changed their minds. It wasn't clipping, you can see from the replay he was clearly above the knees.

Not saying it was a safe play, and the fact that they want to take these dangerous plays out of the game coupled with the fact that he is a repeat offender is what got him the suspension. We can only hope that future hits like that this year (because there will be more no doubt) will result in at least a one game suspension for the offending player.

Honestly, who cares if it was called clipping or something else. It was an illegal hit. The whole point is that he did something stupid and dangerous, and won't own up to it.

I'm still waiting to see proof on how it's any more illegal than the Ballard hip check on Campbell (or any other ballard hip checks), Hamhuis on Lucic, Raymond on Marchand, Marchand on Sedin, etc. Salo getting hurt has no bearing on whether or not the play is legal.

We can all agree that they are dangerous but hip checks are still legal according to the rules.

I didn't see the entire game, and can't remember even seeing any of those plays, so I can't comment on them. It's not for me to provide you with this proof you seek.

Besides, that's not how it works. An illegal hit is an illegal hit. He doesn't compare it to other hits in the game and then decide if it's illegal compared to those.

Salo getting hurt does play a role in the discipline that Shanahan handed out. He said it was a factor in the explanatory video. Did you watch it?

You consider this a hip check!?!? LOL. Are you friggin' kidding me?

Halak is flawless in his return to Montreal. 3-0 Blues!

That's awesome. Good for him.

It's good to see the Blues playing well again.

Leafs also shut out the Sabres tonight 2-0. That's 4 wins in a row.:D The Monster is really pushing to keep the starting role from Reimer.....that's his 2nd shutout in 3 starts.

YouTube: video

what a move. other enforcers, take note :p :D:cool:

Illegal check to the head? Did the ref lose a contact?

Again there are 4 zebras out there and they all saw the same contact to the head?
I know the game is moving fast but all the more reason for a group discussion.

I would rather see a whistle, discussion and if there is a mistake a center ice puck drop.

What a joke the Habs have become. When are they going to fire the GM? He's totally f'ed up that team. I ain't cryin' about it though. :D

They just traded Cammalleri to Calgary. Pulled him off the ice during the game tonight. I'm sure he's glad to leave the train wreck.

Well, the win was probably the best part of the game of course but having Cammalleri traded during the game is a close second for me. I got a text from a bud letting me know and was pretty stunned. Good for the mgmt for moving him on since he's been bitching a lot lately about his ice time.

Comments from non-Bruins fans on this hit? If you want the short version - the hit is right at the beginning, then scroll to 0:45 and see his reaction, then 1:50 to see what Ference says to him in the box. HD available.

Zioxide, I know what you are going to say ;) so I'll save you the homerism... Subban is a punk and his reaction when Ference goes after him proves it.

Bruins ended up short handed on a double minor vs. the elbowing penalty and gave up a goal.

<Subban headshot>

Definitely a dirty headshot. He didn't need to follow through with the forearm to the head. It would have been a great hit if he would have kept it clean.

It looks like Subban's reaction was due to him being choked while Ferrance was dragging him on the ice. I think Ferrence had a hold of PK's jersey and was pulling it up, and the neck-hole was caught on PK's throat. I think that's why his hands were over his face, and that's why he was laughing and pointing to his throat after the melee.

FTR.....not defending Subban.

Who let the reasonable guy answer first??? :p

Does he get a date with Shanny perhaps?

Nothing surprises me with Subban anymore. There is a reason (well, multiple) he is booed every time he touches the puck.

I'm glad Ference reacted the way he did, regardless of the fact that it put us shorthanded. Ference is always the first guy in to jump in and defend his teammates. Love that guy.

Wouldn't it be more efficient if they just told us when he's actually able to play?;):p

REPORT: ISLES' DIPIETRO TO UNDERGO SPORTS HERNIA SURGERY

Dipietro signed a 15-year, $67.5 million contract just before the 2006-07 season. He played 63 games that season, before hip surgery cut his season short. Since that season, he has played just 47 games over the past four years, and just eight games this season before the lastet setback.

With nine years still left on his deal, Dipietro told Newsday he has no plans to retire.

*snicker* That's just crazy.

I feel bad (but not too bad.....I mean, he gets $67.5 million) for DiPietro....it's (probably) not his fault that he's been injured so many times. But I laugh at Snow and Wang for signing him to such a ridiculous contract. Dummies.

Thats exactly why you should never sign anyone to a ridiculous contract like that. ESPECIALLY a goalie.

I know and understand kings fans want blood but look carefully. The hit, albeit a tad high, was clean. It was the freakish way he went into the boards that caused the hit. You will also see the ref was right there and saw it from three feet away.

as for Suban-

I do not ever remember anyone turtling after throwing an elbow. THIS is what needs to get out of our game.

Crazy hit.

I really don't think Subban was turtling. I think he was trying to pull his sweater down from around his throat.....Ferrence was pulling him around by the sweater, and I think it was choking him.

Anyway....Go Leafs.

Looks like the Wings won't have any trouble making it 15 straight at home. 3-0 at the end of the 1st.
