Glimmer of hope? Er.... what about the Canucks? They were in the finals last year, and they won the President's Trophy (most points during the season) this year. I'd say they have a good shot at winning it all this season.
Plus, don't forget that the Sens are also in the playoffs.
So? Their franchise collapsed after '06. So did a few others. Look at Montreal, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Calgary, Dallas, and Anaheim. They were all good teams in the past 5-6 years. Now they're all out of the playoffs.
The Oilers just got lucky......that is, if you consider being so bad that you have one of the best chances of winning the draft lottery lucky. If anything, if the NHL were going to fix it so that a Canadian team won, they would have rather the Leafs won the first pick overall.
He can't run anywhere.....he's in the middle of a lonnnnnnnng contract. The BJs aren't going to trade him unless they get value in return. Plus, chances are there will be new management in Columbus, and they may not want to trade him at all.
Jerome Iginla is an interesting situation. It looks like his days as a Flame may actually be over. He commented that he isn't really interested in being part of a rebuild.
