Who do you guys think is going to win the 1st round; Detroit or Nashville? I like Detroit (my other favourite because my poor Leafs can't make the play-offs :() and my Friend likes Nashville so I just want some opinions on this.

Like Babcock said I think Darren Helm's recovery is important for us.
Oh and for all the Vancouver fans, Daniel is starting practice now.

Nashville. Look where I live, should explain it.

Dude, wtf was Clowe thinking when he reached onto the ice from the bench and interfered with the play? I've never seen that before.....

And BTW, his name was trending worldwide on Twitter tonight :p

Ovechin played the puck while standing at the door. Must of been 3 or 4 seasons ago.

Lol, I grew up near Detroit (Although I always lived on the Canadian side :D) so I love Detroit and I would say that their going to win but right now I think it'll be a pretty close series, I think game 7 is quite predictable.
We'll see what happens tomorrow evening; will you be watching the game as well?

On a side note this is my 250th post :D

haha congrats. I'm actually more excited to watch the pens/flyers more than anything. That will be a fun series.

How big is the bet? :p

Yeah, these are the 2 series I'm keeping my eyes on, Detroit vs. Nashville and Pens. vs. Flyers

I'm nervous about the Nashville/Detroit series. I would feel much more comfortable if we were playing St. Louis. We have played really well against St. Louis this year.

Yes but Nashville has also played 4-2 against Detroit which is why I am worried

My Stanley Cup final is on right now:

How exciting!:rolleyes::(

EDIT: Wow, the Oilers won the first pick overall for the third straight year! That team is going to be scary-good in 2-3 years.

Sucks to be you, Columbus.

I'm actually a bit annoyed the Pens/Flyers and Wings/Preds are staggered essentially on top of one another. Might have to kill my Chicago Wings bar viewing plans so I can watch both at home.

False, 3-3 series tie. Oddly no overtimes/shootouts. Go Wings! Tough series, but that's okay. No backing down or ducking from the Wings.

Yeah, the NHL just kicking Columbus when they're down. Rough. Almost nearing conspiracy worthy. People might start thinking the NHL is just trying to stack the Oilers with enough young talent to give Canada a glimmer of hope at a Stanley Cup champ.

Edmonton? ... 2006 they play in the cup finals ... then within the next 3 years they get 3 #1 overall picks in a row?

or give Rick Nash another reason to run away-

Glimmer of hope? Er.... what about the Canucks? They were in the finals last year, and they won the President's Trophy (most points during the season) this year. I'd say they have a good shot at winning it all this season.

Plus, don't forget that the Sens are also in the playoffs.

So? Their franchise collapsed after '06. So did a few others. Look at Montreal, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Calgary, Dallas, and Anaheim. They were all good teams in the past 5-6 years. Now they're all out of the playoffs.

The Oilers just got lucky......that is, if you consider being so bad that you have one of the best chances of winning the draft lottery lucky. If anything, if the NHL were going to fix it so that a Canadian team won, they would have rather the Leafs won the first pick overall.

or give Rick Nash another reason to run away-

He can't run anywhere.....he's in the middle of a lonnnnnnnng contract. The BJs aren't going to trade him unless they get value in return. Plus, chances are there will be new management in Columbus, and they may not want to trade him at all.

Jerome Iginla is an interesting situation. It looks like his days as a Flame may actually be over. He commented that he isn't really interested in being part of a rebuild.

then regardless of what his contract states , he should be given the choice of where he wants to go-the flames owe him and kipper the same choice-give them the power to decide where to go

As long as it's within reason. You can't expect them to give Iginla up for a couple of 5th rounders and some crap throw in players. The Flames should get some sort of value for him, and I think he's a good enough guy to understand that.

I haven't heard anything about Kiprusoff wanting out. Have you?

The President's Trophy is essentially putting one nail in the coffin. The second is them failing last year in the finals. The third could be the goaltending of Quick. Either way, Vancouver winning the West and the Stanley Cup is far from certain.

The Sens had an insane season that they should be proud of for defying everyones expectations, but it's even less likely they'll manage to get out of the equally tough East. Stranger things have happened though.

The numbers are just never in favor of a Canadian team winning it all with only 2 of 16 playoff teams from Canada. Vancouver has good a chance as anybody, but it'll be a tougher go this time around.

I never said that the Canucks winning the Cup is certain. I just disagreed that the only glimmer of hope that a Canadian team has for winning a Cup is the Oilers. Oh, and I also disagree that the NHL is somehow fixing it so that they are stacked to win a Cup.

I think that the Canucks are better prepared for the playoffs this year. Please don't misinterpret that statement as me cheering for them.:p

It was about 92.5% sarcasm, but just the faintest bit of "mmmmmmmmaybe?" haha. At least the NHL draft lotto isn't as corrupt as the NBA's. Now that's a total farce.

I don't understand how people are saying pens won't win flyers. Do you guys realize how many players right now are at their best & career highs? Hint: James Neal, Pascal Dupuis, Matt Cooke, Malkin ...etc. Fleury has 2nd highest wins in NHL right now.

Edit;
I made a NHL.com bracket for the first round & remaining. It's really easy and for macrumor users only. All you need is a log in and pick your first picks. It's just for fun and bragging rights.

We won't. We know you are cheering for the B's -- or is it the Sens?

It's good to see that Surely woke up from the Leafs induced coma.

Ok, I put my picks in -- Don't know what good it's going to do since I mostly don't care as long as the Bruins do well :)
