I'll take things I would never thought I would hear again Alex, for $1,000.

Ignorant comment about a place they've never been... oh look.... Daily Double!

Detroit has its good parts and its bad parts, but there's been a lot of recent investments and commitments from businesses to the city, so I like what the future has in store. I'd love to go back to Detroit, but I'm not going to quit my steady job in Chicago out of the blue without finding a gig there first.

------

With that said, it's still early, but I hope the Kings hold on to take command of this series.

4-1 Kings. Game over. Series...?

Burrows is complete dirt trying to start crap with Quick in that skirmish with ~7:30 left in the 3rd. Players like that make me have no hope in supporting the rest of the team.

If LA wins this series, that little riot last year will look like tea and crumpets with the queen of england compared to what will happen if the Canucks are swept (not to mention breaking every hockey fan and pundits playoff bracket into pieces)

I was very happy to wake up this AM and see that the Kings took another game. I watched the end of the Flyers/Pens game and Philly is just tough.

Bruins at 3pm EDT today -- let's hope for a more decisive win by the B's.

No, I really don't expect anything to happen if the Canucks lose, whenever they do. C'mon.

<----- is becoming and LA kings fan?

Seriously, I'm sold. Quick is a monster. Also if Phoenix can stay tough, I'll gladly cheer for them to dump the Blackhawks. Nothing would make me feel better than having the bandwagoners of Chicago be quiet and go back to cheering for the Bulls. Rough being a Detroit fan in Chicago the past 5 years. It's gone from $5 Blackhawk regular season tickets to $100+ preseason ones in that time.

Neither do I. Nothing like last year will happen there. That city is very embarrassed about it. Plus, if they get beat in the first round, it'll be a quick end. The emotion that built up as they progressed to the finals last season won't be there.

I lived in Chicago from 1999-2003, and it was super-easy to get tickets to games. I never got them as cheap as $5 though!

Detroit and Philadelphia are also looking pretty good right now because Detroit has an almost-certain-win-at-home advantage and Philadelphia is going home 2-0.

It is true but the Bruins lost the first to games at home against the Habs in round one last year then took two back on the road... things can get crazy.

Think it was during the 07-08 campaign and the second half of the season. I had one game for $5, a few others for maybe $20. It was incredible - kind of like Cubs games the past few summers. Just stroll up, buy any set from the multitude of sellers for $5-10/each, go in and enjoy a game.

A few seasons ago, we were able to get a pair of Kings tickets for $100 when the Leafs were in town. The tickets were on the blue line in the second row! We moved up to the first row because there were empty seats. Seats like that would have cost >$1000 for the pair in Toronto.

This is the other reason I can't go to playoff games in Toronto!

No posts? Shocking. Well, I missed most of the evening games as I was out and about, but just caught some highlights and had some thoughts:

- So much for Pitt/Philly being the series to watch out for physical play and cheap shots compared to the rest, such as the Carkner/Boyle situation in NYR/OTT (and the Boyle nonsense in Game 1) or the end of game fight (and others) in the STL/SJ series.

- Mike Smith getting hit by Andrew Shaw... as a former goalie, I really hate players that mess with other goalies (like Burrows on Quick, gutless), but I'm not too sure that should've been a 5 and a game. Also, if the hit was as bad as Smith reacted, I wonder about concussions (he had one/multiple earlier in the year and didn't tell his team for weeks) and how they could leave him on the ice.

- Washington/Boston officially wins most boring series ever. I know there's some die hard Bs fans here that might take that personally, but you can't deny it if you're watching other games. Offensively impotent. Even the shots - which luckily were up in Game 2 - are mostly from the sides and chances are stale. Better watch out for Holtby though. 72 of 74 shots stopped? Kid's a beast.

Well, time to grab some brunch before the Wings game. So early and odd. Going to spend a 70 and sunny morning in Chicago sitting in the apartment watching hockey. Then a couple huge Game 3s between Pitt/Philly and LA/Van. Wonder if either of them can get some redemption.

EDIT: Carkner, Hagelin and Shaw are scheduled to have little chats about their altercations. Suspension guesses? I'll go with 2-3 for Carkner and probably 1 each for Hagelin and Shaw. No stars, no preferential treatment here.

Agree on the offense comment - it's a joke. Still exciting if you are a fan. Bruins need to generate some goals. Shots from the perimeter or shots without someone in front are not going to work.

I am now actively rooting against the Penguins now. They are a bunch of whiners. They can't lose fast enough for me though they are trying. Goaltending matters and they don't have it. But, if you think skill and no toughness can win this year I say think again.

The one that finally set me over the edge was seeing Crosby stick the glove away from a Flyer after the whistle. If you can't take it, don't give it. Asham deserves some time too.

I hope Philly wins by 10 today.

Neither goalie is fantastic. It's fun to watch but the defense will have to be better next round.

Yep, both goalies have been awful. The game seems to have sort of leveled out. If not, they should put Johnson in - not only would he not be any worse than Fleury to date, but he could actually be an extra fighter on the ice!

Fleury has been junk the past two postseason series though. Bit troubling for Pitt.

Edit: Johnson in to start the 3rd. First shot = Giroux goal.

I want you to swear on a stack of iPads that no Flyer fan thought that the Pens would be this bad and that the series that everyone had going 7 games will not even go 6(possibly even 5).
