From the article:

So potentially longer than 5 games, not a given. But in this situation, almost a certainty.

Any predictions for tonight? I'll take Philly, New York, and Vancouver. I just think LA wins in 5, but Pitt doesn't have it in them. Also a bit disappointed the 7:30 games aren't staggered 7/7:30 like most nights.

Torres could get 7 or 8 (he should get the rest of the playoffs plus 10 into next year since he really has not learned his lesson).

I think the nucks will be golfing by Saturday-they will only have one and a half twins-not enough to beat the kings.

Guess my picks were for the losers actually! Har har har. Already 0/2 on Philly and New York. So far looks like LA's keeping the pedal to the floor vs. Vancouver.

10 goals - aberration or more to come? I think a bit of both. 3 more games is just too deep of a hole to be in for Pittsburgh.

Edit: Naturally get distracted when writing this and posting it and Van is now up 2-1, quick goals. So maybe not over yet.

My brother just sent me this link - The Six Best Ryan Kesler Tumbleweed Gifs. Apparently he's leading the league in looking like an idiot the post season.

Been listening to the media all day and getting fired up. Capitals are pulling the predictable "well, the Bruins would rather fight than play hockey" routine. Give me a break. However, after the penalty situation in last nights Pens/Flyers game I think everyone better be on the look out for a lot of whistles tonight.

Go Bruins!!

This will be my last Shark related rant until the off-season

I can take losing-I am a sharks fan. I can even take them doing it the exact way I thought they would in the exact number of games.

What I cannot take is the fact that I don't think anyone in our organization has the guts to do what is necessary-rip it up and start over. What we have is not working-we must make extremely hard choices as to who and what should remain. My view is that except for Couture and possibly Pavelski (depending on the return), anyone and anything is fair game. Thornton, Marleau, Boyle, Burns, Handzus, Clowe, Havlat-we should seriously look at any offer that we deem acceptable. If Doug Wilson is not capable of that, then we need someone who will really think about sending Marleau to the Habs for their pick. Whether or not we should take it is separate. We need someone who will really, really think hard about it.

I know these guys have no-movement clauses-its time to enact them. Tell them that we want this to be peaceful and to tell us where they would accept a move to and listen to what those teams have to say.

As for our coach-I really don't know. Part of me says he is part of the culture that needs to change but at the same time we have now seen clearly the issue is the guys on the ice and not the one on the bench. Does he bear responsibility? Of course. Should he be held responsible for the inaction of his players? Yes. But if the players simply do not follow his instructions is that his fault? No.

I will end the rant with one last thing.
when we fired Ron Wilson, Doug said something about how sometimes the class needs a new teacher. Well Doug, sometimes the school needs a new principal and new students. If the teacher did everything he could to get them to succeed, but he continued to meet resistance from them and the school administrators, how is he at fault when they fail.

I'm going to cry, my team is out in the first round. :(
Now I hope LA Kings and the Flyers win the series or I will be in a mad depression.

It's panic mode in Philly:D Everybody CALM THE FREAK DOWN!!!;):D

lol You must be freaking out :p

The thing is, it's entirely realistic for the Pens to come back and win this series.

Why the hell are there so many days between games in the Canucks/Kings series? The last game was on Wednesday, the next game is on Sunday! And it's in Vancouver, so you'd think that if it's a scheduling issue, the Canucks would have called dibs on dates at GM Place. It's not like it's in LA, where they have to work around the Lakers and Clippers at Staples Center.

For once Shanahan did something right. Players like him do not belong in this league.

Too bad Shanahan couldn't do it right from the beginning of the playoffs.

This all goes back to that ridiculous $2,500 fine that he gave Shea Weber when he slammed Zetterberg's head into the turnbuckle. If Weber would have be given a suspension, even if it was only 1 game, maybe the precedent would have been set early enough for the players to understand how things were going to be called. Shanahan has been way too inconsistent, and that makes it difficult for the players to know where the line is.

I actually think Torre's history was a bigger factor in this case. He has done this same thing several times and that discipline did nothing. He needed to send a clear message that his behavior is unacceptable. Shannahan is trying to stop Torres from doing this again.

Read Pierre LeBrunn-

his point about Cooke is spot on-Cooke got a similar hammer down last year and so far, he has behaved himself (no meetings with any league officials this year that i can recall).

Oh, I agree with you. It was absolutely Shanahan's way of sending a message directly to Torres. I just think that Shanahan could have saved himself some grief if he would have handled the Weber incident better. When he gave Weber that fine instead of suspending him, it sent a message to the rest of the players that those types of plays are sort of acceptable. Carry on with the dirty rough stuff, you won't be suspended.....especially if you're a star player.

A few months ago, I listened to a rare interview with Cooke. He definitely got the message. He changed the way he plays the game.

Hell of a game tonight.

LET'S GO BLUES!

Congrats on putting the finishing touches on what remains of our roster. Thank you for pouncing on our mistakes and making us pay for them and making us pay the ultimate price for our failures.

now go beat on some kings!

love,

sharks fans

Well, I think Richards, Gaborik and the rest of the Rangers are dusting off the old putter tonight, cause i think they are going to be on the course on Tuesday morning

Hopefully their putts will have better accuracy.

Haven't yet checked out the linked article, but this suspension is an isolated suspension since it is solely based on Torres' actions and his past history. It will not be a benchmark for regular future suspensions. It was also coupled with the league getting a mixed reaction from its regular suspensions, so Torres had to be the sacrificial lamb for the next step of repeat offender suspensions. I mean look at how long that video was.

I really do think the Weber thing could have helped with some of the actions of these playoffs, but some people (Torres, Neal) were going to do something stupid regardless given their situations. It could have had the same effect on players that the mega Shanabans in the preseason had, but once he let that perfect opportunity slip, there was nothing to do to save it.
