Clemens is acquitted of all charges

What a colossal waste of time, money, energy and effort the Clemens investigation/trial and the Bonds investigation/trial were

I am one happy camper. Unfortunately I don't think he will make it to HOF :( and yes that makes me sad. I know there are lots of people who feel differently and that is ok, it just makes me sad. He was my favorite player growing up and yes it stung a little when all of this came about. However I am a firm believer that there are a ton more who have used and didn't get caught during this time of baseball. A lot more.

I hope he never makes the HOF.

My personal view on letting PED users into the hall is based on the circumstances. If a user comes out and admits to using( even though he denied it until caught), his admission is sincere and genuine, and it was for a short period of time then I would be fine in letting them into the HOF. So players like ARod and Pettitte, I wouldn't mind them going into the HOF due to their supposed usage period was short and they came right out when caught. Especially since Pettitte only used to heal from injuries( supposedly). Now if their reason for using turns out to be a lie and/or they are caught using again, throw the book at them.

For players like Bonds, Clemens, Palmeiro, etc who deny using despite strong evidence of them using( and even willing to go to jail over it), they don't deserve to go into the HOF.

HOF admittance for PED users should be a case by case basis.

So if they are held in a court of law and was found not guilty they should still be tard and feathered? Hmmm

Playing devils advocate here. Would you admit it if you didn't do it? Go to court found not guilty. Hmmm.

So if they are caught and admit it they have done it they should still be able to go to the HOF? Hmmm again.

Oh well either way we are all entitled to our opinions.

So did OJ not commit murder? Did Casey Anthony not kill her kid? While all three were found "innocent" in the court of law, they still have to face the court of public opinion and they are all guilty in that courtroom.

Just because the prosecution screwed up, critical evidence couldn't be admitted, witnesses testimony was limited, the jury probably didn't give a crap about PED use in baseball, etc that Clemens didn't use PED's?

What do you think of Bonds and Palmeiro? Both deniers to this day despite strong evidence of use( and both tested positive in tests I believe).

As much of a Yankees fan I am, people like Clemens, Palmeiro, and Bonds are cheaters who continue to deny they cheated and should never even get a sniff of the HOF.

I think you mean to say, that in the eye of the public opinion and sports writers, that if someone admits to doing something even though it is wrong, because they were caught they should get a free pass. I have yet to hear anybody come forward and say yeah I did it, didn't take a test or anything, but I might as well come clean with it. So should Mark Mcguire be held also, since he was one of the ones that said he didn't, but then changes his tune and said he did.

Should be Pete be allowed back in? He finally admitted it.

Sorry, I think it is safe to say we have opposing views on this and we are not going to change our views.

I have a feeling there a lot of players more than we can think of, who during the 80's, 90's and 2000's who have done them. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some in the HOF. But hey, we will never know because I highly doubt they will come forward unless they are caught. :)

Edit, forgot to answer your questions:

Do I think Bonds and Palmeiro tested positive for PED. Sure, if they did and they tested positive they did. Unless of course the test is fual able (sp?). But I highly doubt they would use the results if it is not accurate. I do not think Clemens has tested positive for it has he?

Like I said it would be a case by case basis. ARod and Pettitte both denied, but got caught and then confessed. Both players I wouldn't mind getting into the hall. ARod claims only used for 2 years which is a short amount of time in his going to be long career whose numbers were still hall worthy off the juice. Pettitte claims to have used it in 2004 to heal from injuries. So 1 year out of a long career. Even if a PED user comes out and admits to using, if he used it for a decent chunk of his career, he should not get in.

It is definitely a matter of subjective opinion. The longer one denies even getting caught, the less likely I think they should get in.

Bonds and Palmeiro tested positive and deny using. Clemens has not though. But, Pettitte and the doctor who injected Andy said Clemens used( which they couldn't testify to that).

BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox have traded third baseman Kevin Youkilis to the Chicago White Sox, according to ESPNBoston.com's Gordon Edes.

A major league source told ESPNChicago.com's Bruce Levine the deal sends Youkilis and just over $5.5 million to the White Sox for right-hander Zach Stewart and utilityman Brent Lillibridge.

Rules question for baseball experts.

In tonights Cardinals/Marlins game, Reyes was leading off the first, and popped foul, which the Cardinals 3rd baseman Daniel Descalso dropped, and was given an error. Reyes flied out to right next pitch, no harm, no foul, no pun intended. Let's say our pitcher Lohse otherwise pitched a perfect game (which is a moot point because Stanton just lit up that monstrosity in center field at Marlins Park), would it still be ruled a perfect game? I always understood a perfect game to be no runs, no hits, no errors, no baserunners.

Given the error, would it still count as a perfect game?

It would be a no hitter, not positive about perfect.

IMHO, it should be a perfect game. No one got on base since the error was on a foul ball. No walks was issued, etc. So no one got on base, 27 up and 27 down, etc.

I'm not sure what it would be, but it should be a perfect game.

No different from the catcher dropping a swinging strike three, IF he threw the runner out at first. ;)

And at least we don't go running away when our team struggles unlike a certain rivals fans. ;) :p

I'm here! Do you want to talk about the baffling case of Clay Buchholz's intestinal problems? :D

I'll just be over here in the corner, pining for Jacoby Ellsbury's return, while marveling at the awesome that is David Ortiz.

----------

We could have a fun, wacky, sitcom called "Me and the Yankees fans."

You're the only true Red Sox fan here then. :D

Other Red Sox fans that I know that usually post here are gone and not posting here. Even if the Yankees are struggling, I would be in here complaining that they suck. :D

We'll enjoy it while we can.

Soon football season will be here and some of us will have to face the circus that is the NY Jets. I should have just rooted for the Giants like every other sensible Yankees fan out there.

Yes, but then you'd be insufferable, and I wouldn't like you nearly as much. :D

Freddy Garcia is now the Yankees #1 starting pitcher.....

PANIC!!!!!!!!

Let's be honest - CC hasn't exactly been lighting it up - Hopefully he'll be back to his old self in a few weeks.

We just have to get Freddy through 5 - and let the pen handle the rest.

I would not be surprised if this was a way to get Sabathia off of the All star team.

It was a very short ride at the top of the rotation....

Hopefully Andy will be OK.

EDIT:
Apparently Andy isn't Ok. A fractured ankle it is - Looks like he'll be out 6 weeks. Not a good day for Yankees pitchers.

Oh man, you too?

This really is grotesque. :D

In all seriousness, I am fairly confident the Red Sox will play better before too much longer. Not that it means they'll make the playoffs, but the 2 WC spots certainly makes it a possibility. We shall rise again!

I agree. Unfortunately. :p
