So, in the span of about 48 hours....

John Lackey, who is supposed to be "rehabbing", is double-fisting cans of Bud Light in the Red Sox clubhouse (where Bobby V supposedly banned alcohol), and now Will Middlebrooks, one of the only guys on the team who has actually performed and gave a **** took a 96mph fastball off the wrist and broke it.

train-wreck.jpg

Even more embarrassing is the fact that Bobby V and the idiots in charge of this team keep saying that they think they can make the playoffs. hahaha. They haven't even been able to stay above .500 for more than a week. What a ****ing crock.

If the Henry and Lucchino actually gave a **** about winning, they would shut down Middlebrooks now for the rest of the year, make Crawford have his inevitable TJ surgery, tell Lackey and Bobby V to pack their bags and get the **** out, and put this organization in a position to put a winning team on the field in 2013.

Instead, all they care about is their bank accounts, their ****** pink hat fans, and their fake-ass "sell-out" streak. What a joke. **** this team. I hope they lose every single game for the rest of the year. Henry, Lucchino, Cherington, and Bobby V should all go jump off the Tobin bridge. What an embarrassment to the city, fans, and ball park celebrating it's 100th anniversary. I think I need to add like 6 more pictures of train wrecks to actually depict this cluster**** accurately.

Had not heard about Lackey, but it doesn't surprise me. I hate that guy, and I don't mind saying it. As for Middlebrooks, that I did hear about. My only reaction is: figures.

I realize they have to keep feeding this BS, but their actions are what annoy me. Crawford should be having TJ surgery. Ortiz should be done for the year, not rushing back. Middlebrooks should be done for the year. They should be calling up the kids en masse.

It's been an embarrassing season to be a Red Sox fan. I hope they clean house and have a serious plan to change the culture of this team for next year. Too much talent and money to be such a disgrace. I'm just dead sick of them and their win one, lose two style day after day.

God, I'm so embarrassed of my team, I can't even begin to express it. What a horrible, depressing season. I never thought 2001 would be challenged on the pedastal of "worst Red Sox seasons of my life" - but this one might take the cake. :(

Red Sox stars blast manager Bobby Valentine in heated July meeting with ownership

aka the Mutiny on the Bounty. There are really no likable people in this saga. Bobby Valentine has come across as a clueless ass most of the season (taking shots at Youkilis in the media, being a dick to rookie Will Middlebrooks, admitting he didn't know all the pitchers in his bullpen in ST), and now the players are challenging him for the title with their juvenile, spoiled brat routine.

I guess they forgot that the reason they're stuck with BV is because they absolutely laid down last September and got Francona canned. How about **** and play? Ugh. Sorry for the rant, but it's just nauseating to watch and this may be dumb, but I feel really betrayed. Shelling out money to MLB.tv for this garbage? My Dad shares season tickets with my uncle, and I try and get home for a few games a year, this year I feel really bitter putting any money in this team and ownership's pockets.

Also, the Red Sox usually send their postseason invoice to season ticket holders in August. I've instructed my father to light it on fire and then send the video to the Red Sox public relations office.

I hope for a similar spilling of information once the season ends like what happened last year. Is Bobby V that bad? Are the players just being entitled spoiled brats after being with Francona for so long so once a different managing style comes in, they are acting out, etc? Or is it a little bit of both?

I hope Bobby V stays as manager so the players can continue to stop playing so when they hit FA, their value drops like a rock. I feel bad for the fans, but the only thing that will set the players straight is their pocket hurting after their POS performances decreases the years and money on their next contract.

This franchise is going nowhere but even further down the toilet anytime soon, and I can't say that I'm upset with that. Frankly, this "team" ****ing sucks. A bunch of overpaid, arrogant, entitled, and lazy pricks who don't give a damn about anything but their paychecks.

It all starts at the top with the clueless ownership. The front office is a complete cluster****. The fact that they are still trying to tell people their "sellout" streak at Fenway is still going on is proof. There have been dozens of games this year where the place has had 10,000 empty seats, but they keep this charade going. It's clear they don't give a damn about anything but money. As long as the pink hats keep coming for "the Fenway experience" (which apparently means being cramped in an uncomfortable stadium for way too long watching the "ace" pitcher give up 4 home runs and 11 runs in 4 innings), keep spending money $8.50 on beers and buying Dice-K jerseys, there won't be any changes. It's all about the money for them, they couldn't care less what the product on the field is.

This didn't start this year, or even last year. It's been going on since the collapse against the Rays in the 2008 ALCS. Complacency set in, and the players were just going through the motions without actually caring about the results. After the epic collapse last year, the front office thought getting rid of Francona (the ultimate "players" manager) was the answer. They bring in Bobby Valentine, the opposite of Francona, to try to right the ship, but he fails miserably. Clearly, while the management is a big problem, it's not the biggest issue here. It's the players and the whole climate in the clubhouse. They don't give a damn about winning, just cashing their checks every two weeks.

This whole thing with the meeting with the owners a couple of weeks ago just shows how bad the situation has got. In what organization do the employees bitch and whine so much that they get a meeting with ownership to complain about their bosses? The ownership and front office keeps bending over for these players, and that needs to stop. They don't perform last season, so they blame the manager. The players are out of shape, so they fire the conditioning coach. How about holding the players accountable? Instead of firing the conditioning coach, they should have told Beckett and Lackey to get up off their fat asses, stop consuming copious amounts of fried chicken and beer, and HIT THE ****ING GYM! They are professional athletes, they need to act as such.

As much as I hate Bobby Valentine, firing him now is just going to continue to make this problem worse. It's just going to show the players that they really are in control. This entire team needs to be gutted and rebuilt. Dump all these ****ing clowns, rebuild the entire front office from scratch, and start over. That's the only way to right the ship, but it's not going to happen until the fan support stops. People need to stop putting up with this garbage product John Henry & co are putting on for us.

Also, the Red Sox usually send their postseason invoice to season ticket holders in August. I've instructed my father to light it on fire and then send the video to the Red Sox public relations office.

August? lol. This is just more evidence to the problem. Wait until you actually make the playoffs before you start trying to sell the tickets for them, especially when you haven't even made the postseason in 4 years, and haven't won a postseason game in 5. ****ing pathetic.

Who knows, and yeah, I'm sure we'll find out. If I had to guess, I'd say it's a little bit (a lot) of both.

The dilemma for me is I'd like nothing more than to see Bobby V gone (actually, my true wish is to go back in time and stop them from firing Francona), but I hate the idea of the players getting their way. They've been acting like petulant children about things. I hate feeling embarrassed by my team. Losing is one thing, but acting like self-entitled, spoiled d-bags is quite another.

The ownership has seriously dropped the ball, and if they don't give up this absurd (fake) sellout streak and do something, they're going to lose all the good will they've cultivated since they took over. If they haven't already.

Thanks for the sympathy.

It's just their protocol, they've been doing it for ages now. They send it whether the playoffs are even a distant hope or not. It's just particularly annoying in light of recent events.

Even the guys on NESN are embarrassed.:p

Someone should test Hamilton for PED's.

You know, I hope the Tito Curse replaces the Curse of the Bambino. For as long as current ownership and players associated with this mess remains, the Red Sox never wins a WS. :)

Those clowns (Orsillo and Remy) are just yet another part of the problem. Good luck seeing them ever criticize the team when they play like **** and just don't care.

The curse of Larry Lucchino more like it.

At least some members of the Boston sports media are finally done putting up with this crap. Lots of good reads on their websites today. :D

I have a feeling the 2013 Red Sox are going to look a LOT different than this years team.

Curses aren't named after the owner that did the action. They are normally named after the victim per se of that action. Babe Ruth didn't go to the Yankees himself. The Red Sox traded him to the Yankees hence the Curse of the Bambino. The Red Sox fired Francona. So the Tito Curse is aptly named. :)

Okay, what happened to sympathy for your fellow fan? I mean, let's be real, at this point being rude/talking smack to Red Sox fans is like spitting on a corpse. Also, sports schadenfreude.

Like I said, I feel bad for the fans. But, the ownership and current players who cry and cry and cry like spoiled brats don't deserve a WS. The fans do, but not the players and ownership.

The only ones who actually suffer are the fans. The players and owners are wealthy and privileged, so the Red Sox aren't the way they unwind, something they enjoy with their children, or bond with relatives over.

If the Red Sox tank and play embarrassing baseball, the owners issue some lame press release and then spend the offseason in the South of France. The players play nine innings, avoid reporters, then drive home in their Range Rovers.

Ah well. I wish I didn't remember this feeling so well. zioxide - worse than 2001?

Luckily for the fans we still have the Bruins (hopefully), Pats, and Celtics all starting within the next couple of months.

This year is by far the worst year I can remember, but I was only 13 in 2001 and didn't follow any sports nearly as much as I do now.

I was talking about the post game, Tom and Eck were ridiculing the team, something Eck never does.

Thats good at least. Maybe they can start to open up the eyes of the pink hats.

As you can tell I haven't been watching at all. Not putting up with this embarrassment of a baseball team anymore. It's one thing to support a less-talented team that's not winning but at least going out and caring each day. I can't support clowns like this though. They have all the talent in the world but just clearly don't give a ****.

I think the myth of the pink hats is way overblown. Just because some women have crappy taste in sports gear doesn't mean they're all just around to ogle Jacoby Ellsbury. If anything, it's the more casual fan who won't be paying Red Sox ticket money to see them when they're not winning, and thus not chic.

The real reason the (fake) streak has been kept alive so long is typically you have to secure Red Sox tickets at the beginning of the season or close to it. So you've spent $200 getting your family tickets - the answer would be to just not go to the games? That's a huge waste of money, so I can understand still going. My sister has tickets to a game this month - skipping it altogether is the equivalent of flushing $150 down the toilet.

If you watch the games, you can see the number of empty seats. It's all the scalped tickets that people aren't buying - a testament to fans unwillingness to shell out the high prices for Red Sox tickets when the team is playing so embarrassingly. I've seen the empty seats growing, personally.

I have MLB tv, and the games typically start while I'm still at work, so I've kept watching (although I have no compunction with turning it off if it gets too annoying). There's not much else to say, really, this team needs a major overhaul - in management and in player personnel.

Looks like the Melk man was drinking more than milk.

Selfish, stupid !@*#&. His suspension pretty much wraps up the NL West for the Dodgers. He's most likely played his last game as a Giant, and his potential free agent payday this offseason just dropped through the floor.

I agree with you here, I use pink hat more as just an expression as to the "fans" who show up for the "fenway experience". Ya know, the ones who are starting the wave and so excited to sing sweet caroline in the 8th inning when the sux are getting shelled 15-2. I'm not using it specifically to refer to women by any means.

Yeah, it's all a big charade. There have been games this year where the ballpark has barely been half full. I feel bad for the hard working folks who shelled out a ton of money this spring for tickets and are now stuck with this crap. (The scalpers and ticket brokers, not so much). Because of this, their fake "streak" will keep going until next year, but you can bet it will end like the first Monday/Tuesday night game next April. These brokers and scalpers aren't going to be buying up tons of tickets for next season after this crap, there's no money for them to make and no demand for tickets. You can walk up to the box office at 6:45 and get in for less than $25.

Sell-outs should only count if all the tickets are sold AND the ballpark is at capacity.

Throwing Lucchino off the Zakim bridge would be a good place to start.

This is why the Yankees traded him, he was immature and was bringing Cano down. He is a good player just didn't put the game first.

Is it bad if I'm rooting for the Yankees tonight?

Nope. I would never outright root for the Yankees (with the exception of last year when we had to for playoff reasons), but I'd rather the Red Sox got their ass beat this weekend. I don't want there to be a shadow of a doubt that the ship needs to be blown up. If Moyank and others can be happy as a side effect, that works.
