Man, I have to admit, this season of baseball although my Minnesota Twins are garbage, is one of the most exciting seasons of all time.

Cincinnati Reds look unstoppable, the Orioles and A's of all teams look fantastic, Pirates aren't shabby, Detroit and Chicago are neck to neck, Chipper's last season has been one of the Braves' best seasons of all time, there have been blockbuster deals, and lots and lots of drama.

I love great baseball. Haven't had this much excitement in a season since 2007 when the Rockies won like 25 of their last 27 games and 2006 when the Twins went from worst to first midseason.

Nice. :D

And on the other side of the Empire, the sky seems to be falling. I think the Yankees are just trying to toughen me up in preparation for the Jets season.
This will be a fun month. The Yankees O's and Rays will play each other a ton this month and beat each other up. The Yankees should squeak through as the O's go to Oakland and Seattle. The Yankees can hopefully beat up on the Jays and Sox.

At this point, they don't look like they can beat up anyone - not even my Grandma's over 90 league. Let's hope as guys get healthy and come back - especially Andy - they'll kick it up a notch.

But you're right in saying it's going to be fun. Nothing like a close, hard fought pennant race at the end of the season. I'd much rather have them go into the playoffs (if they make it) scratching and clawing than coasting.

That said, I'm not sure how far they'll go - they strike out too much, especially with RISP - and they won't be hitting 5 home runs a game against playoff pitching. ABC ball is what it's going to take - we'll see.

I would rather they have their slide in August than September like the Red Sox did last year. Maybe they got it out of their system and now go back to playing lights out. Plus it is good to go hot into the playoffs rather than coast in with no pressure.

Agreed - Look at how the Cards did last year.

It just gets annoying with the Yankees fans who are acting like the world is ending. It's a long, long season.

I am not going to worry until there is a week left and they are 5 out.

You'll still have to watch the Red Sox play when you wake up in October. :D :p

:( There's another Green Day song for that, same album (can you tell I've been to see the 'American Idiot' musical like four times this summer?):

I give you props for being able to just enjoy things even when your team isn't playing well. I am supremely guilty of the opposite. I am about as excited as is humanly possible for my girlfriend and her Orioles, but right now all I can think about is the fact that the Red Sox are playing Pedro Ciriaco every day. I think once the playoffs begin and the nightmare is over, I'll be able to root for the newcomers and small market teams with my usual moxie.

So I've heard, but I can't see the Yankees pulling a Red Sox September '11, as that special sort of suck only happens once in a blue moon, so you probably don't need to worry.

I would rather the Red Sox be playing meaningful games and not be using September as spring training to test out minor leaguers for next year. But the baseball gods care not what I think. :(

You better hope they can beat up on the Sox, because they aren't doing **** in October this year if they can't beat the Pawtucket Red Sox of Boston.

Don't worry, the Brady and Gronk show starts Sunday around 1pm.

Red Sox 2011 = Yankees 2012?

I'm starting to think it's some type of Karmic retribution for all of the Yankees fans who have been laughing at the downfall of the Red Sox.

And the fact that this team isn't playing very well and haven't been for a while now. This isn't 1 or 2 bad weeks....Granderson is the poster child. .230 hitter who strikes out way too much. Sure, he hits a lot of home runs, but where would he be without that short porch?

To be honest I started to feel sorry for Red Sox fans a few months ago.

This team just doesn't seem to want to win anymore. I just don't see the spark that was there a few months ago. Can't blame it all on injuries. They are not all hurt.

Unfortunately the Yankees still have a month to blow it.

It's still not as bad as the Red Sox collapse even if the Yanks don't make it into the postseason. The Red Sox blew it in the last month of the season. The Yankees blew it during the whole 2nd half. It's a whole lot easier to blow a 10 game lead in a half a season than it is the last month of the season.

Either way, it's still a collapse. We'll see how they stand after this weekend.

Do you know what I see from the 2012 version of CC? A decent #2 or #3 starter that eats innings. He is not an ace.

I would say so. He may not eat the innings like CC does, but he shuts down the opposing lineup more than CC has this year.
Nova was strong early but fell off. I guess the question is who is the number one starter in the playoffs. Kuroda or Sabathia?
