I don't have a problem with the Cards going all the way. Don't want the Nats to win.

Couldn't care less, really. Won't watch another playoff game.

You only have to worry about the Yankees if they face the Giants in the WS. You should first worry about the Nats. :D

Nats are certainly best in NL, but the team that could get you early, midseason, or late season is no doubt the Rangers. Their depth in recent years is like two NY Yankees teams. After being so terrible for so long, it's the era for the Rangers to do their best work.

I feel the Nats are on their destiny year and if they walk away from this without a WS ring, then the press will jump on them as basically having choked. If the Giants meet the Nats, yes, it will be scary and I hope the Nats thus lose, and anything to increase the Giants' chances.

Smart money in last couple of months would have found a Nats-Texas WS as most likely thing. While Texas made the postseason, they are out as this is baseball and anything can happen. Nats could lose NLDS but I highly doubt it. On my side of the bracket, the Reds are a little tougher than Giants but do-able. But either the Reds or Giants should not prove too hard for Nats if Nats bring the team that has awed the rest of baseball.

One Random stat... Top NL seed hasn't had a WS showing since 2004 (IIRC).....

I'm hoping the Nats don't break that streak.

I love October ball because anything can happen and upset do happen!

Hey guys,

I'm trying to find 2-4 tickets for the NLDS game 3 in DC on 10/10. I'm looking everywhere, but I figured I give a try here, too. My Dad's a huge Nats fan and it would mean a lot for me to be able to take him to the game. I live about 6 hrs away from DC but have made arrangements to get there and back for the first playoff game in DC over the last 79 yrs. If you have tix or a lead on them, please let me know by PM.

Sorry to hijack the thread for a bit, just attempting every possibility. Thanks for understanding. #natitude. :)

Use stubhub.

I've been on stubhub, Craigslist, you name it, I've checked it out. People are just gouging others. It's ridiculous. I was just throwing a line out seeing if a MR member might hook me up with a miracle.

It's a risk, but best deal is day of game.

Yup. I can't do it, though. I've put my cutoff at 9pm Tuesday night. Gotta have tix in hand for a two day trip. It's costing me a lot to get up there and to miss work. Don't get me wrong, I'm willing to pay decent $ for the tix, just trying to avoid triple price or higher. Working family and friends over, too, to see what they can come up with. Just wanted to put the word out here, too. Never know what can happen.

Competition might be pretty stiff for those tickets. Nats/Expos first playoff appearance since 81 (IIRC). Playing against defending World Series Champs.

That's why you are seeing those prices.

One of my All sports fanatic co-workers in the DC area also calls DC one of the wort sports towns with absolutely no loyalty to their franchises. No love through regular season, absolute overload band wagon during critical times like playoffs. So they might have a sudden surge of new customers too.....

Me I find it hard to believe any town is that bad when it comes to have sports franchises....... He's just a bitter Baltimore fan anywho that thought the Nats were stealing their market.

DC sports fans are great, your buddy, well, he's just from Baltimore. We can't stand Baltimore and they can't stand us. Fine be me. The problem is that our teams haven't won anything for the past two decades +. And we still follow! If that's not loyalty, I don't know what is. Redskins, Caps, Wizards, Nats... Not a championship amongst them since the Skins in 91. Now, I count the Terps as a DC team and they won the Tourney in 2002, but I guess that technically doesn't count.

Anyhow, the Skins have sold out every game since 68. The Nats were brought to town because the locals were begging for a team and sick of Angelos and the O's. The Caps might have the most die hard fans of all the teams, but until they win a Cup, you'll have a tough time seeing people publicly choose them over the Skins in loyalty. And the Wizards? Aw, never mind.

Tickets are tough to get because there's so many folks in the area. Sure, people come out of the woodwork, but the sheer number of interested parties always makes the playoffs outrageously difficult to get a hold of. I'm confident we'll get some. I just hope they're worth whatever price we pay.

If DC was loyal to the Nats, they would have showed up to games when they sucked.....

They only showed up when the Nats were new and when Strasburg pitched in 2010. Other times, the stadium was empty.

But, at least they show up now that they are good. Unlike O's and Rays fans......

Yeah Florida seems to be a lukewarm baseball market. When the Rays were playing through the post season in their race to the World Series a few years ago (2008 IIRC) you could still buy tickets for home games from the box office on game day.

Cardinals had bandwagon fever last year.... In early September when the playoff ticket packs went up for sale to the season ticket holders there were quite a few that didn't jump on them. even if the Red Birds wouldn't have made it, the price you pay is applied towards next years seats. In the early games of NLDS you could get stubhub tickets for near face value. After the Doc vs Carp pitching showdown in game 5.... Second market value of tickets sky rocketed.

For the teams the Nats had the first few years, it's impressive anybody showed up. Even after the success this season, they still only ranked 14th in attendance. The base is there and it's growing. Hasn't even been a decade yet.

After the having teams like the Redskins, it should have been easy to support the Nats.

Lol. With the Skins there was hope we'd win. The Nats losing was pretty much guaranteed. At least they put the losing to good use by building the organization, unlike that MFer Snyder. He couldn't build a team with Legos.

When was there ever hope?

In the fleeting moments after Gibbs was rehired.

It will take a lot more than a good coach to get the Skins to win. There is too much emphasis put on coaches/managers on a teams performance.

It's why I don't like people saying fire Joe Girardi or last years calls for Francona's head. Or the fact the Indians fired Acta. Not Acta's fault the team sucks.

I thought Acta's firing wasn't his fault. The Indians didn't have a lot of great talent. Shin-Soo-Choo is their best player and he's a good player, but not great and certainly not good enough to build the whole team around.

However, I thought Francona's firing last year was warranted. The Red Sox had a ton of talent and they didn't win, almost solely because of clubhouse issues and a lack of respect for the game. That is certainly the manager's fault. He is a great manager but I think he made the players too comfortable and feel too secure. Something Ron Gardenhire (manager of the Twins) needs to fix.
