I was really hoping the Cards would shut it down today, but the Nats didn't want to let the city of DC go so long without a Post Season win!

Good for the Giants, it will be more evenly matched if the Cards make it; that's why I wanted the Reds to move ahead!

The scariest team in the NL is definitely the Nats. I hope the Cards win. Though the Cards won't be easy, I will take them instead. That being said, I don't know if Giants have all their parts to make it happen this year. If the Giants do it, and without Lincecum in rotation or Wilson (injured) as prime time players, it will be amazing. Some Giants who have not been stellar as hitters all year will have to produce in these next two rounds. Other teams only need to keep on as they have all year just as they are.

Just like in 2010 I am nervous but more so. The only rest we had was maybe wrapping up the division earlier than most but not so much because the Giants were great more than LA having a meltdown.

Baltimore makes it so all four division matchups went all the way to five games.

I hope the Orioles win, the Cards, and Oakland though it's not looking good for the A's. If Detroit takes it, I would love to see them go against the Orioles.

ARod is benched. Why isn't Granderson benched as well? I would trust Gardner more than Granderson. Plus, Gardner also is a defensive upgrade over Granderson as well.

The only reason I can think of is that Grandy, who frankly wasn't that good all year, still has power. And a LH hitter, even on a bad swing, can still go deep at the Stadium.

A-Rod didn't really have the power numbers this year.

Edit: And Grandy proves with a HR that I know all. :D

WooHoo!!!!! Bye bye Birdies! Now for the Nats to send the other birds home. :D

It looks like it's about to happen, 8th inning and solid lead.

I was rooting for both birds (first and foremost to root against Yankees but they won in typical Yankee fashion).

And as for the Cards, I really wanted to see my SF do the NCLS as home team, not on the road to best baseball team all year. I don't know how we are going to handle Washington on their turf. I would have so much preferred Atlanta first, then the Cards (both with SF as home team). This is the worst possible situation for Giants and facing the Nats is also scarier than any team on the AL side, assuming SF goes to the big series. I will take Yankees as a foe over Nats, and if SF goes that path, it will be obstacles worth bragging about (best AL record and best NL record).

It's not over until the fat lady sings, and right now she's in line for more nachos and beer.

If Cards win, then SF's path got much easier. That being said, I am 50-50 on beating Cards. If it were the Nats, I wouldn't think my SF could ever beat them. What I really wanted was the A's vs. SF but I will have to wait another year.

The best, as my Vegas tracker quotes, is for SF to have Cards in NLCS, and then Detroit in WS if things go that way. I don't want to face Nats and then NY. Maybe there is a God but I will have to wait and see.

Come on Cards, it's just three outs!

One more out.

I'm happy and soooo disappointed. Glad the Yanks won, but incredibly disappointed the Nats lost. Besides the Yanks, I can't root for any other team. I could root for the O's and Nats. But, I can't for the Tigers, Giants, and Cards.

I'm so excited I can't sit down. Lightning does strike twice for the Cardinals!

Are you talking about this year?

You know the Cards posted one of the worst regular season records and went on to win WS. But then again my Giants also had a pedestrian record in 2010 and went on to win it all, too.

That being said, though people thought the 2010 Giants didn't deserve to be there and that WS had some of the lowest TV ratings ever (being beat on one game in ratings by regular season NFL game, really), that team was way better than the 2012 Giants.

Whatever the outcome, if my Giants don't do it, I certainly don't want to see NY get yet another ring.

And boy did they ever!

Haven't you heard? We love the underdog position ;). Two years in a row Cards retired the top NL seed :).

Good luck sir! I hope it will be an exciting series for us both!

I hope the CS on both sides is as fun as the DS five gamers were. For me there is no football until somebody wins the WS.

I think it's going to be hard to imagine the ALCS being more exciting or emotionally charged than the NLCS. Two teams fought back from the brink of elimination!

A few weeks ago I was excited at the thought the of the Cards winning wild card slot #2 and that their season extended by one more day..... Who would have thought they would have made it this far!
