You are forgiven. :D

And do you know what we call Nunez when he plays SS? Eduardo Scissorhands.

Or Jim Abbott. Too soon?

Oh really? That's terrible, then. Jeter's age really shows in his range at SS, I just assumed Nunez would be better. That sucks. Not that I'm rooting for you guys (that would go against my DNA), but losing Jeter is lame.

----------

Did you seriously just propose putting A-Rod at shortstop? He is about an average fielding third baseman at this stage of his career, there's no way he could handle short.

Seriously. That was a smart move like 5 years ago - now, not so much.

At least we are tanking in October not June.:D

I've never been a huge fan of dancing on graves. Bad karma and all that...

I fear these next few days will reach an annoying level of Yankee bashing. I just hope those who root for losses can also give the team credit when they win.

And for goodness sake, I get the Red Sox fans being happy, but if you just hate the Yankees because [insert stupid reason], I  at you. I give the Braves fans a pass as well. :D

Salt.

Wound.

You guys won the World Series in 2009, come on! It's not like that postseason cursed them or anything. The Yankees have made the postseason in 17 of the last 18 years, you guys have wrung all the sympathy you're going to get out of me. A three year drought won't kill you, trust me.

But you're still in it! And there's always a chance. :)

LOL, true. (Moyank look away now) But in the end it's the same result, no championship.

I know, I know. It's just been an awful 3 games so far. Bad memories on top of it all are extra painful.

Next week I'm sure you'll be torturing me about football instead. ;)

Me either. I was teasing with the 2004 comment, I hope you Yankers know that. Plus, that's the triumph of my team he was summoning. :) Obviously I'm not seriously taunting you, considering the Red Sox have been playing golf for a month now. Or pounding chicken and beer. One of the two. :(

Speaking as a Patriots fan, it just means you win a lot and people are jealous. It used to really bother me that everyone tried to make NE into an evil team and enjoyed our agonizing losses - but if the trade off is winning, and winning a lot, it's worth it.

Any of the fans enjoying the Yankees losing, if they're being honest, would take the Yankees success for their own team in a heartbeat. Like I said, 17 postseason trips in the last 18 seasons. The ability to wring talent out of washed up or aging superstars (Ichiro, Ibanez, etc. - every year it's someone), all those ridiculous, unimaginable comebacks.

Oh, I think you all know why Red Sox fans hate the Yankees. I'm sure some of you took your joy in the worst season in recent Red Sox memory, no?

I realize you're getting a lot of crap now and it sucks, but you're fans of a very, very, very (ugh) successful team. I don't see that changing any time soon. Haters gonna hate, as they say.

Enough Yankees fans comforting for tonight. ;)

Oh, I know.... I give all the Red Sox fans a pass (especially those like you who aren't all bad ;) ). And in this rivalry, it certainly goes both ways - though I've always said it's a much more entertaining season and playoffs when both teams are still alive.

And that was comforting? ;)

I would not be surprised if the Yankees lose tomorrow even tho I think Sabathia pitches a gem we still need run support. The pitching has been great the past 8 games just nothing to show for it.

Living in CT my whole life with a family of Red Sox fans in the battle ground between Boston and New York I have learned how to give and take. I always take pride in badmouthing the competition hoping it doesn't come back to bite me later.:D

:p

Win or lose, it's been a heck of a year and I'm proud to be a Yankees fan.

And I can't wait until next season when the Yankees will finally come to Houston (although it's the last freaking weekend of the season). My kiddos have waited long enough to see the Pinstripes.

You drive a hard bargain, geez. I can't even think of anything else nice to say without hotsnacking. The Yankees will be back, probably stronger, meaner, with a re-loaded offense and even more pitching. It's a given. It's the stuff of my nightmares.

And I know this firsthand - if they don't pull of a 2004 Red Sox, the pain will eventually lessen. Especially when eased by a rapier wit about it. :)

I really hope the Cardinals lose. I think their fans get way too much credit for being all nice and homespun. My ass. I took my girlfriend to a Royals/Cardinals game at Kauffman Stadium a few years ago. The Royals were giving away free t-shirts, so we grabbed a pair and put them on. Obnoxious Cardinals fans sitting behind us threw peanuts at us, harassed us, and were generally ********s the entire time.

I finally had to stand up and tell them I was a Red Sox fan and that if they didn't quit it, I'd dole out the same ass whooping the Red Sox gave the Cardinals in the 2004 World Series. It shut them up for about 3 innings. That, and a friend of mine's girlfriend is a Cardinals fan and she's a giant B. I've yet to meet a Cardinals fan I really like, and that makes all the difference for me.

Every fan base has its bad eggs. Admittedly though, as much as Cardinals fan self proclaimed title of best fans in baseball is common in these parts..... You don't have to search too far to find an obnoxious fan..... Much like any ball club I suppose. But experiencing a game a Busch is something else, it truly usually is just a great baseball environment. Returning Cardinal heroes playing against the home team typically get standing ovations(I bet Pujols would be the exception if the Angels ever come to town). I have no doubt in my mind that Theriot will get a good reception. Last season a group of Brewers fans and I had fun talks about the Cards, the outlook of keeping Pujols, and how it was bad form for the two teams to clear the benches and for Nyjer Morgan to keep fanning those flames by running his mouth. Only other park I can compare it to is Wrigley, and for non-cubs fans... Especially a Cards fan, I found it hostile.

But back to the NLCS, Giants and Cards have shown they aren't going to make it easy for the other. Good luck tomorrow 63dot, I'll be at Busch tomorrow cheering on the RedBirds (look for me, I'll be the one wearing Red)! Hope Scuty starts too!

Watch out Tigers, ready for a 2006 rematch.

Don't get ahead of yourself, I'm sure San Francisco has something to say about that.

And sorry, but the Cardinals fans I know are still annoying as hell. Also the Cardinals have won recently, I'd like to see some other fans get a chance to celebrate. Some of my closest friends are from Detroit, so that's who I'm rooting for now.

...and good luck to you, SporkLover

The NLCS could turn into a full ride and go 7 games.

As for ALCS the Tigers look great right now, but that last inning and who were batting for NYY, and how they were batting could have made it a NYY game. I am glad the Tigers held out and it was a nailbiter.

For some the thought of a Giants-NYY WS is totally out of the question, and right this second, I think the two teams most think with the most momentum are the Cards and Tigers. It could be that rematch, and the way things look, if I was a betting man, would be to put the Tigers to win in all. But being baseball, and imho more unpredictable than any other major sport, we could be thinking something totally different 24 hours from now.

There was a time earlier in this whole postseason when I actually thought we could have an A's-Giants WS rematch. Though the A's are out now, they did the comeback thing pretty good all year. The Giants seemed doomed by the Reds but their huge momentum made them look like a team headed straight for the World Series spurring talk of a second ring in three years. We had an important rebirth of the freak ('08 and '09 Cy Young winner and 2010 postseason pitching hero Tim Lincecum). But your Cards put things into perspective quickly by beating the Giants in San Francisco. Though we are tied, the momentum is with you. What do you have to lose? You came in as wild card and nobody was pushing you to be the one and whatever you accomplish far exceeds your regular season record. San Francisco's comeback from the Reds coupled with so much attention on pitching staff puts the pressure on the Giants heading into Cardinal territory. While you can lose today, you still have the luxury of being in St. Louis. A SF loss would be devastating with the prospect you can close it out at home, but that's just looking at today.

OK, OK, he's not the best lighting quick person since that weekend with the material girl so I propose he get sent to the San Francisco Giants.:D

You and me both. Having all Red Sox fans as friends or worse yet Angel fans..... This pains me but I laugh knowing they didn't even make the post season. Win or lose, we still made the post season. :D

So, before were you secretly rooting for the Yankees? I knew it! ;)

I'm kidding, of course.

Detroit is looking really, really good right now. They are clicking on all fronts.

I'm not sure if you are watching the games, but frankly they're not hitting much either.

The 1st game they scored 4 runs, which their closer gave up in the 9th. The 2nd game they scored 3 - though 2 were scored after that awful call at Second Base. That game really should've ended 1-0. And last night they managed to get 1 more run off of Yankees pitching than we scored off Verlander. And that was after Hughes left the game and Girardi threw everything out there that had pinstripes on. If Whitey Ford was in the building he probably would have thrown him out there as well.

Their defense, which is normally pretty bad, really hasn't been tested because the Yankees can't hit the broad side of a barn. If the Yankees offense wasn't so awful, the Tigers offense or lack thereof may be a bigger story. The Yankees pitching has been amazing in these 8 games, and they deserved more from their offense.

This right on. And this is why I don't count the Yankees out.

I honestly don't know how the Tigers would fare against a SF or St. Louis if they made it all the way. We may find out this year, but then maybe not. SF looked like they couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, either in the NLDS and parts of the end of the regular season, but when backed up against a wall, the Giants came out swinging, and not just Posey.

The Giants are not usually a team that comes back from being way down, but they do from time to time though those times are as rare as hens teeth. The Yankees, however, are the Damn Yankees, and have made a century of coming out of the most dire situations and turning things around. The hitters are all tested players who have made extraordinary things happen and I cringe every time I see a Yankee come up to bat (I imagine them in the WS one day against my Giants knocking them out of the park even though we have the Lincecums, Cains, Zitos, and Wilsons of the league). You guys are always great, or can light up in a nanosecond and be instantly great, and that's why I hope you lose. ;)

Look, some people may recall the 1980s not being your best decade, but even then you guys had some of the greatest names and could have picked up multiple rings. So even a less than standard Yankees team is always a threat.
