Fox cuts away to show the perfect game and all hell breaks lose.:p

I feel like Bobby Valentine is going to be gone by the all star break.
And who do they replace him with? The manager is not the only issue with this team. Hell the manager isn't the issue with this team. Things picked up where they left off in September. They don't have a bullpen at all. They were stupid to not sign Papplebon, they ran the GM out of town. Ownership seems to be the bigger issue as they are more concerned with the soccer team and nascar.

It's not the manager, it's the horrible pitching, although I'm no fan of Bobby Valentine. I went out when it was 9-1, but then got a barrage of gloating texts/facebook messages, so I figured out what happened. Just brutal, can't believe we have to sit and watch this night after night and there isn't a thing we can do about it.

Jason Veritek? ;)

He could turn out to be a sacrificial lamb - whether it's deserved or not. And maybe the pen is a different group if Andrew Bailey is healthy. Who knows? It's worth remembering that the Sox started out this way last year as well - and though they blew it at the end they had a heck of a run in the middle.

But I really wouldn't be surprised to see Bobby V go if they continue to go down this path.

Speaking of horrible pitching - the Yanks starters haven't been much better. Our pen has been a strength, but we have to get to them with a lead. And with Michael Pineda's setback today, everyone is looking forward to Andy Pettitte showing up in a few weeks. Andy Pettitte - love the guy, but who knows how much he has left. Hopefully CC will return to form as it warms up, but so far Ivan Nova has been the only bright spot.

From the evening's quotes, it seems like ownership views this is a continuation of the end of last season, and places the fault where it belongs - on the pitching staff.

"This isn't a 14-game problem. This is a 41-game problem (dating back to last Sept.)." - John Henry

All I know is this better be rock bottom. The Red Sox have been making me profoundly unhappy for about 7 months straight.

How long did Yogi last?

According to wiki -

Berra was named Yankee manager before the 1984 season. Berra agreed to stay in the job for 1985 after receiving assurances that he would not be fired, but the impatient Steinbrenner did fire Berra after the 16th game of the season. Instead of firing him personally, Steinbrenner dispatched Clyde King to deliver the news for him.[18] This caused a rift between the two men that was not mended for almost 15 years.[19]

So, a season + 16 games.

Completely agree with everything here. I honestly don't see how they can possibly fix this team this year. But Bobby has to go. He's just an addition to the problem, he's not part of the solution.

I'm glad the Brewers bats woke up a little last night. We need Braun, Ramirez, Weeks and Hart to hit. Pitching has been pretty solid and even the middle of the Pen hasn't been bad. Very impressed with Marco Estrada taking over for Narveson (injured) and pleasantly surprised with Aoki in center.

There's no way we fire Bobby before the end of this season. Firing him at the end of the season makes it look like he didn't know what he was doing; letting him go during the season makes it look like management doesn't know what they're doing. I'm no fan of Valentine, but who would have thought our pen would completely implode like that?

Uhm, anyone who realized that losing your two best relief pitchers (Bard, Papelbon), and replacing them with often injured (Bailey), one-year wonders (Melancon) was a gamble and a half. They will likely not be this terrible all season, but I wouldn't expect better than mediocre/bad.
