Uhm, anyone who realized that losing your two best relief pitchers (Bard, Papelbon), and replacing them with often injured (Bailey), one-year wonders (Melancon) was a gamble and a half. They will likely not be this terrible all season, but I wouldn't expect better than mediocre/bad.

I meant in that specific game. Up 9-1, there was simply no way of predicting the pen would give up 14 unanswered runs. But to your point, I think most folks would agree that almost every offseason decision the team made regarding the bullpen was short-sighted and generally terrible.

Yup, agree 100% on both points. It's just brutal and a total disgrace.

At least we're spared another embarrassment tonight with the game being postponed. Thank you, rain.

Glad the Cards could could contribute to the Pirates run for a .500 season...l. Oh well I guess they can't win them all.

Toronto BJ's are keeping pace with the Yankees, after sweeping the hapless KC Chiefs.

GO TORONTO GO :D

Don't keep your hopes up. Toronto and Baltimore always start strong. They will collapse into mediocrity as usual by June or so.

:p

Un-f'in-believable....

I just got to work, so this is the first I'm hearing of this...not surprising, but so frustrating because of the young talent we gave up for him.
ARLINGTON -- Yankees right hander Michael Pineda has been diagnosed with an anterior labral tear of his right shoulder and is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday.

Pineda will have a labral repair procedure performed at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Dr. David Altchek will perform the procedure, assisted by Yankees team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said the timetable for Pineda's recovery is 12 months, meaning the right-hander will not return to the field until next season at the earliest.

Pineda out for a year with a torn labrum.

Jeez, that's terrible. I'm a Mariners fan, and I wouldn't have wished that on anybody, forget about who "wins" the trade. That said, I'm not stunned. He was pushed very hard last year, and was clearly not in good shape for this spring. Bad prep has knocked off more than one rookie hotshot before...

Austin Jackson almost made one of the most amazing catches so far this season. Wow. He had the ball, but then lost it.

He had the ball barely in his glove. He held it against the fence, but when he tried to get the ball into further into the glove, he dropped it.
Indeed, in real time I thought he held on.
