Did you really think I thought Utah was Alabama? Or any team other than Utah?

You make no sense.

Alabama or LSU is going to lose this weekend. And by the way, could Alabama possibly play more nobody's out of conference? They still play Charlestown southern. FCS team? Seriously?

Utah already beat Michigan this year.

Notre Dame has been living off "reputation" for years. Could lose to Stanford.

OSU or Michigan State, one of those teams is going to have a loss by season's end. Possible even both.

Baylor and TCU, at least one will have a loss or more. Both still have to play each other, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.

If Utah wins out, there's going to be plenty of room to rise in the next few weeks. Especially if Stanford continues to roll. They'd have to get through a top 5ish Stanford at the end of the season to do it.

To say it's impossible is just wishful thinking.

You'll notice I'm not saying it will happen. Just that it could.

Eh Utah barely beat Michigan. Very doubtful they would do it again. Plus that doesn't even matter. What matters is how you're playing at the end of the season. Committee would put LSU or Alabama in before Utah even if they had a loss or two. Ohio State with a loss gets in over them. Michigan state probably does too.

Guess I'll get to gloat and be right here in a couple of months.

Perhaps you will. Time will tell.

Well, yesterday was interesting - Bama, especially the defense, played well. And, in addition to Henry's performance, I was impressed by special teams, notably Adam Griffith. It was cool to see Saban let him attempt and make the 55 yarder. It remains to be seen how much respect they'll garner for the win, though. Some people seem to respond by claiming that their opponent wasn't that great after all. In any case, as Saban said after the game, they need to just take it week by week. Mississippi State won't be a pushover, and even Auburn, which may be finding itself, won't be easy at Jordan Hare.

I would be shocked if Alabama doesn't get the two rank. Not that it means anything with games remaining but just going with how the committee thinks. If it doesn't happen, then there really is no rationale to how teams are ranked.

Of the teams that were ranked (Clemson, LSU, Alabama, Ohio State), Alabama by far had the most convincing and dominating performance with the it being against second rank LSU.

I don't think that the committee will rank one-loss Bama above Clemson or Ohio State yet. They may move up to number 3, though.

Eh. Idk I think it's likely. Each week is a reevaluation of how each team performed that week. If they thought LSU was #2 and they were stomped by Alabama, that means Alabama played pretty darn well. Clemson beating Florida State is a good statement victory. Both played much better than any other team excluding Oklahoma State, who manhandled TCU on the road (thank god I'm so sick of hearing about TCU and Baylor).

This. Past weeks don't get any consideration. So if #4 Alabama curb stomped #2 LSU, it's very likely that Alabama jumps to at least #2 this week. Ohio St. should remain where they are because it was just another win for them, nothing significant to note about the game or how they won. I see Clemson remaining at number 1 because they clinched the ACC - Atlantic.

Week 2 Playoff ranking:

  1. Clemson
  2. Alabama
  3. Ohio State
  4. Notre Dame
Seems like the committee is putting a bit more emphasis on S.O.S. If a team has a weak schedule, it doesn't look too good unless you have a better record.

Hoping that clemson and ND stay in these exact spots the rest of the season...Huge ND fan and want to see that rematch when it isn't flooded and pouring rain lol!

Who thinks the committee is trolling the Big 12, hinting that if they want to get in they need a title game, otherwise have fun out the inside looking in? LOL

Another week in the books. Thought it would be a close game but other than the first quarter, Alabama pretty much took over the game. Would not be surprised if they became number 1 bumping Clemson to number 2 just on how both teams won.

I was disappointed with the Tide's O during the first quarter, but it was clear that the D was shutting Dak Prescott down effectively. It was tough to see Kenyan Drake injured again, though. He may be able to recover relatively quickly, but that remains to be seen. (He's supposed to have surgery today.) There's been some criticism of including elite players like Drake on special teams, but that's been Saban's MO all along, I believe.

Tough break (no pun intended) for Drake. He has all the talent but every year he gets hit with an injury that takes him out for a significant period of time.

I was also disappointed with the offense in the first quarter as well and I've said it all year, it's not that Jake Coker is a bad QB, he's just not at that level that Alabama is used to. Scouts can say what they want about McCarron, but as a college QB, he was damn good and I don't see Coker ever getting to that level. Now, Alabama's game plan will still be giving Henry the ball but there has to be a time where Coker has to be able to move the ball. As Alabama get towards the SEC championship and hopefully to the playoffs, they're going to need a QB because if LSU is any indication, good teams will be able to stop Henry and if you have no passing game, its going to be tough.

Henry did very well against LSU, though it's true that good defenses can bottle him up for at least a quarter. What Bama needs from Coker is the ability to convert on third downs much more consistently, avoid plays for loss of yardage, and not throw risky passes. Basically calm down and not do anything too fancy or dangerous. Drake's loss will be big because there's nobody who can quite fill the role of the second player in the 1-2 running punch.

This pretty much in a nut shell.

I am looking forward to the Ohio vs. Michigan State game this week.

This scares me the most and its because I feel like Coker doesn't have the intelligence. 1st and 2nd down, not too worried but when 3rd down comes and good defenses dial up complex blitzes, I don't think Coker is good enough to recognize it and react accordingly. I don't mean he has to complete it but more chances than none, either he's going to throw a bad pass or get sacked for a huge loss of yards.

Luckily for Alabama, Drake is expected to miss 2-3 weeks - arm is only fractured and not broken as per early reports.
