There is no team I enjoy beating more than Man Utd, but there is also no opponent that is (usually) less fun to face. It's just always so darned cagey when Liverpool play Man Utd. You know it was a drab affair when the pundits call it an "intriguing" draw. Klopp was cautious by Klopp standards, OGS is fundamentally a reactive manager, and this season is already marred by injuries and fatigue. The result was not a classic. Some chances both ways, plenty of effort, but this was just not fun to watch.

Obviously it's a better result for Man Utd though. Liverpool are going nowhere at the moment. The best I could say from my perspective is that Man Utd, who seem to always score/win a penalty late this season, failed to do so.

The league has not been this open since...who knows when. It's even more open than when Leicester won it.

We all prefer it that way. No one wants to see one team run away with it. But there is a long way to go yet.

In terms of competition, I agree, it's been a great season for the neutral. The downside is that the quality of play this year is noticeably below par overall. It's a bit of a grind.

Happy to see how well Fabinho has bedded into central defense for Liverpool though.

Depends on your point of view. Quality of okay at West Ham has been noticeably better!

Mature, professional performance by United at Anfield today. The back four were excellent; Shaw in particular had a great match, and Maguire was always in the right place to make the right intervention.

Martial, Rashford, and Fernandes are all on lousy form right now. United doesn't have a ton of attacking depth to rotate in — Cavani's momentum stalled after getting that three match ban, Greenwood hasn't kicked on this season at all, and James is not good enough. Got to find a way though it.

Creatively they're still kind of hamstrung by having to play both Fred and McTominay in midfield. Still really need one top class DM so another more attacking MF can play, or Pogba can push up the pitch more.

Still, can't complain in the end about the result.

Both sides were blunt in attack to a certain extent. United defended well, but if Liverpool's front three were in top form they would have scored goals today, guaranteed. And you can say the same about Man Utd's forwards as well. The result might have been the same, but the lack of goals is the result of fatigue.

Like I said previously, this season is a grind. Few players are at 100%.

There is a long way to go, and it's really hard to predict where any team will end up. Liverpool could still easily win the league if they get their act together. Or they could finish out of the CL places. Same goes for pretty much the rest of the top ten, which is pretty unusual.

I can assure you the team currently in 9th won’t win the league! We never have! Top 6 is beyond us I believe as well.

Given how many weeks ago it seems Ole’s days were numbered, I’m sure Utd fans are more than happy.

Arsenal are three nil ahead against Newcastle.

Yes, I know.

Newcastle.

But, only five games ago, we were flirting - hard - with life in the relegation zone.

And 13 points out of a possible 15 is not bad; more importantly, it is exceptionally welcome.

Yes a very good win. You were never really flirting with relegation. I think there are only 5 teams in that position.

Well, we pretended to, which gave rise to uncomfortable sensations.

However, for now, with four wins out of five matches, little conceded by way of defeats or goals, and 13 points to the good, I can relax and enjoy my beer.

Big match just kicked off. Hoping for the win as I work with a few West Brom fans and I could do without the grief!

I suspect that you would be in a fairly different place (as you reminded me last year re our reliance on Aubameyang) were it not for Antonio.

West Ham in the lead, by two goals to one, in the dying minutes of the game.

Edit: A West Ham victory.

100%. I fear for how we would fair without him. Especially as he’s a bit injury prone. I mean not in the Andy Carroll league, but still misses a few games. But I think Bowen is another good player for us.
Shows just how far we’ve come that I’m disappointed we lost our run of clean sheets.
Elsewhere Leicester doing what they need to against Chelsea. A bit gutted my FF captain Vardy didn’t get one of the goals!

Now do I play my triple captain this week?

I did. I played Vardy as triple captain, thinking Leicester would do well in the 2 matches they had in this game week.

I was right, in as much as Leicester is now - for the moment - top of the league after 2 wins, but Vardy was - pretty much - useless in both games. 🤬🤬🤬

Transferred him out and bought back Kane. So expect a hat-trick from Vardy next week. 😝

We won our game at the weekend v Burton but it really wasn't good. No chances created in the first half. We've now got Peterborough & Sunderland coming up, 2 promotion rivals and we haven't been able to beat one of the other top teams in League 1 since we got relegated in 2018.

It's the start of 8 weeks in a row of Saturday/Tuesday games. A gruelling schedule and the omen's don't look good for our promotion push.

I'd definitely take that! An improvement on our form against the top teams haha.

How are things for Wednesday? Still stuck in the relegation zone I see.

We were up to 21st until we hit a Covid ban. So we've missed 2 matches in a row.

Good to go for our FA Cup match this weekend vs Everton...

I triple capped Bruno, but he had a real dud against Liverpool. I was thinking he'd make it up against Fulham today. We shall see.

Speaking of Leicester: Maddison is on good form again, making them a very dangerous team indeed.

As I have said before, the overall level of play in the league is well below average - even the best teams right now are not much better than "decent."

....but you could say the same about the season Leicester won the league. There is every chance they could do it again, in their current form. Which would be bonkers, but one heck of a story.
