Right, we have Vasco da Gama vs Tombense tonight for the second round of Brazilian Cup. Let's see if at least we can get to the next phase and bag some money for that. We need money.
So we won with a heart attack at the end when we had an easy win but conceded one goal.

Meanwhile, Barcelona La Liga dreams are done and dusted today... #KoemanOUT

Just done ourselves a huge favour in our 3-2 win against Leicester. Now if Spurs can get beat by Man U, that will help no end.
An excellent victory for West Ham (against Leicester), while Spurs collapse in a cloud of toxic negativity against Manchester United, losing by three goals to one.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are currently ahead at Sheffield United by two goals to nil.

Eventually making it 3. A good day for you, @JamesMike and myself on the football front.

What a result for the Hammers! Have to say Lingard looks excellent in that team, probably helps that teams don't sit back and pack the box against West Ham like they do against United — being able to run in behind is Lingard's strength.

I was absolutely fuming at Son in the first half, drawing that ridiculous VAR call to wipe off a good Cavani goal, then going down the other end and scoring himself. Whatever Solskjaer said in the visiting dressing room at half time was potent stuff, because United played some of their best football all season long and scored two of their best team goals in quite a while. Pogba, Cavani, and even Fred were immense, but I hope Solskjaer gets the credit he deserves for the adjustments he made and the ability to get his team refocused after those first half setbacks.

And Son, of course, got racially abused online. Appalling and unforgivable.

Have to feel pretty good about United holding on to 2nd place for now. If only City would slip up more like they did yesterday.

Wrong that Son got abused online, but it was pretty pathetic. I like what Ole had to say about it after the match.

Well...Saints rollercoaster ride continues.
Here's hoping they were holding everything back for this weekend's semi-final against Leicester.

I just don't understand what's wrong at Saints - one week they can look like giant killers and as good as any team on the park - they next they look like a League Two outfit, with the same personnel.
So Frustrating.

Tbh (I didn’t see the game), but West Brom can be pretty up and down. Sadly I think they probably won’t catch Newcastle but will overtake Fulham I suspect.
Everton’s good form seems to have left them at the crunch end of the season. I think they are out of the European places race now.

Soton has little to play for right now, except for the upcoming FA Cup semifinal against Leicester City — I'm sure they had that tie largely on their minds instead of focusing on West Brom.

Injuries and lack of depth really caught up to them this season.

Everton are part of that crowd of relatively solid teams jockeying to finish anywhere between 4th-5th and 10th-11th. There's something to build on there in that squad, but I feel like we've seen them fail to do so season after season. They'll probably end up cashing in on DCL sooner or later and repeat the whole process again.

Everton are looking more and more like Saints and Hammers every year...so much promise, so little real delivery.
Hammers are having an exceptional year, but as is so often the case they're only really a couple of injuries away from a fall...the curse of the mid-table non-money club (like several that hover between 4th and 14th every season).

I'd like to see Everton do well, but they'll inevitably sell their best talents and move back to mid-table mediocrity with the rest of us.

I'd really like to see either Everton or Hammers hit the European spots at the end of the season and stick it to the big money kids, but I just can't see it lasting...and without a large squad, CL football is a curse, not a blessing.

Not as much as I would. But we are already missing Cresswell, Rice and Antonio. At least Lingard keeps going!

Ah, I came here to mention West Ham missing Antonio and Rice, but Cresswell's absence slipped my mind. Very impressive that they're still playing well despite missing those three key players. Their remaining league schedule looks quite favorable. Leicester's final three matches are absolutely brutal, so the Hammers have a real chance here.

Are you familiar with our theme song?

‘then like my dreams they fade and die, fortunes always hiding, I’ve looked everywhere. I’m forever blowing bubbles, pretty bubbles in the air’

We will go and lose to Newcastle or something. To get 4th I think we will need to win 6 of our 7. Can’t see it.

Yes, but that also assumes that the top four teams won't also slip and trip a little between now and the end of the season.

At the risk of sounding like I have a bad case of sour grapes, this year's crop of Champions League semifinalists sounds very boring. Nobody for the neutral to root for really.

Liverpool were not good enough and don't deserve to be there. City are probably the best team left and really should win it given their current form.

I believe they will but will they all? Anyway it’s fun watching and having something riding on the outcome.

I cannot imagine that all of them will sail effortlessly to the end of the season without an occasional hiccup, a disastrous defeat, a catastrophic game, perhaps injuries, culminating in a few dropped points.

I’ve just been looking at the fixtures and I see we play Chelsea soon. So really the winner of that will be sitting pretty. Meanwhile Liverpool’s exit from the CL tonight means they will be desperate to try and make 4th.

This has been West Ham's best season in an absolute age.

I'll wager that if - at the beginning of the season - someone had said to you that close to season's end, you would have been (seriously) in the running for fourth place, you would have been ecstatic.

Indeed. I’d have been happy if we were in contention for top 10 tbh.
