Believe it or not, this is a pretty accurate statement. The retail side and CS side are two very different entities. CS rarely sees the emails retail gets and retail rarely sees the emails CS gets so you have a chance to get very different information depending on who you are talking to.
 
Am I the only one that heard "later this summer" and not "late summer"?

It's supposed to be around August.


Take that from a manager of AT&T who actually has MMS activated on his account. BTW, I'm not a manager in a store either and I didn't get that MMS memo either, but it sounds super legit.

Also, why not try what he said and see what the response is :)

I really don't know what's on the website. In all actuality, the website, the store and call centers do get info and has been a gripe I've always had, it's different at times. Same way the pricing for devices (especially no-commitment) is different from over the phone (business customer services) vs. online or retail.

It's also the internet, don't take me serious, I could care less. It's supposed to be complete in August (before the 15th) and late summer is probably there for a cushion. Late summer is really near September.

P.S. What I say isn't going to make MMS appear come faster or slower. It will get here when it gets here. Loosen up your girdle. ;)

Actually, I was just commenting on your post to get the facts straight. I'm very patient to wait (unlike MOST). It has never ceased to amaze me how AT&T said late summer, and then people want to say "well, where is it," when it's not even mid-summer, yet. Anyway, was really just lightly jabbing at you for fun. My girdle is very loose. ;) I also thought the OP was just making a joke with his post. I've never thought it was serious. It may be and that would be great, but I don't think it's going to be here any time soon. I think it would be great for AT&T to get it here sooner than later for their own sake. I'm one of the ones that likes AT&T.

Edit: Saw your post above about getting me MMS. Yeah, right, then my service will get disconnected. :D

Funny thing is... I'm one that dislikes them now. I used to like them all around, but when Verizon gets LTE and the iPhone, I'm splitting. Lol.

Too many inconsistencies in the company. I believe that memo was given to managers in the store, but yet, in the call center, nothing gets sent. I only got the info from someone who actually mattered (below The CEO of wireless).

It would be nice if this feature was not advertised on ATT's web site and in their stores. It would be nice if the sales representative informed the customer that this feature is not available BEFORE the customer buys the product.

While the 3GS is a great upgrade over my 2G, I am outraged at the lack of transparency on the part of ATT on MMS. How is the customer suppose to magically know that an advertised feature (by both Apple AND ATT) is not a feature at all.
 
Okay, Let's break this down... Let's define "LATE SUMMER" :D

According to the Farmers Almanac summer began June 21st, while it also says that fall begins on September 22nd.

One could argue that June 21st to July 21st would be EARLY summer. July 22nd to August 22nd would be MID Summer, and August 23rd to September 22nd would be LATE summer.

You could also cut it in the middle and say June 21st to August 2ndish would be early summer and August 2nd to September 22nd is late summer...

So, in the first theory we would be looking at MMS AFTER August 23rd, while the second theory suggests AFTER August 2nd.

This new information that the OP gave us falls around August 2nd....

I need a life. :p
 
I've more or less suspected that 3.1 and MMS would be coming out the moment I left for my week-long vacation (today), thereby preventing me from getting either until I get back. So keep your fingers crossed. :p

I can't stand when people blame sales representatives. I don't care what company, Verizon, Sprint or T-mobile, the company isn't responsible for saying what it doesn't have unless you mention a specific feature and ask if it's available on the device. In fact, when I go into a wireless store, one question I've never heard a consumer ask is "what feature does this phone not have when compared to phone xyz?".

When I go into a store, I know what I want and what it has and/or capable of.

I don't think that matters since it's just going to be a carrier file update. I doubt its going to come anytime soon.
