This was an Apple product (Titanium Powerbook).

Look: a "gaudy, circular button"!
Actually, the whole design of this iPhone prototype reminds me of the Titanium Powerbook, which is in my opinion a good thing. I think it fits perfectly with Apple's minimalist approach to design.
I think that the curved chrome bezel and back of the current iPhone is a tired design. I like it, but it's soooo 2008![]()
I agree. Apple should either go back to metal or do something brand new, like this glass/ceramic idea. This was an Apple product (Titanium Powerbook).

Seriously......... come on the only reason it would have a back like that is so it wont scratch like the old plastic back. the same scratch resist material on the Ipad. Like I said in my last post apple doesn't care if you drop it and it breaks that is why you can not get insurance on this phone.A surface which could allow for some sort of control surface might also point to it being something other than plastic. There were rumours circulating that the rear of the phone would have some sort of multitouch capacity..
The user removable battery is what really pushes me to not believe the hype... The guts may be legit, and even the look - but any thought of user removable replaceable battery is comical...
so are many of the posts here, but I 'degrease'... I mean digress...![]()
I'd hate to be the Apple employee to left it at the bar. Then I'd hate to be the boss that tried to pass a little disinformation to say it was a rip-off copy. I bet we see a couple job postings at Apple for iPhone tester and test manager....![]()
They may have handed it off to the police. No phone call or email from Apple legal = FAKE
I think it's a real PROTOTYPE. It makes absolutely no sense to have the back come off and not have the SIM access back there as well. So I suspect the back comes off for the purposes testing/modification back at Apple. I also think there's no way in hell Apple would force you to expose the entire inside just to remove the battery.
Why would that be there, unless to function as a track/glass pad like magic mouse, but then that defats purpose of touch screen kinda.
Josh topolsky was on TUAW today and said that those breaks MIGHT serve as antennas based on what he's heard. Who knows though.
It wouldn't be funny without a spelling@ Salacion
Your signature, "A synanym is a word you use in place of a word you can't spell."
I just want to say I hope you meant to misspell the word synonym, because otherwise it looks as though you should find a synonym for synanym lol.
With the advancements made in battery life in both the Macbook Pros and iPad when used with unibody enclosures, you can bet it's going to look something like this:

Finally someone here is smart.
You guys keep saying how ugly it is, but you never really note why. Apart from the seams, why does it burn your eyes into crispy, shriveled, black balls?
A ceramic back? Something else to crack when we drop it....
