Did anyone else notice that the calculator icon is different on the iphone and ipod touch?

I don't know if it was a choice, so much as an imposition by the music industry, which sees Tex Avery-style cartoon dollar signs whenever it looks at the word 'ringtones'.

So the iPhone is more expensive, offers half the storage and requires you to take out a costly 2 year contract?

Apple have to come out with a rev. 2 iPhone that betters the ipod touch soon or you can look forward to iPhone sales bombing. They need to at least increase the flash storage in the iPhone to equal the iPod Touch.

There are a lot of people who don't want to carry around an iPod Touch and a cell phone, so I think the iPhone will still do ok.

iPod touch looks brilliant. But I'm afraid I won't be retiring my 3rd gen 30 gig iPod to spend $400 on a replacement with half the storage. No matter how neat or desirable the interface.

Maybe I AM the only one here not on medication...

I also have a 3g 40gb iPod that it almost full, but I am very content with.... unitll now. I am sorely tempted. Must resist.... Do not go to AppleStore.com..... Resis.......

More news: they’re bringing the iTunes mobile music store to bring it to the iPhone as well. Oh, and there’s a partnership with Starbucks that they’re announcing today.

You are so very right. Lets face it Apple is HEAVEN and Steve is GOD. I'm jumping in with a replacement for my 4 year old Shuffle with an i-pod Touch and my PC with a 2.8 Extreme i-Mac. I am embracing the hallowed fruit!

Ya that's how it is, if you ignore that one is actually a phone and the other isn't. These two devices appeal to people for completely different reasons, and often appeal to different people.

I tell ya, I have been wanting to upgrade my 4G 20 GB for a while and was waiting for this announcement. And as great at the iPod touch looks, I can't justify upgrading to something with 4 GB less storage. The main reason I want to upgrade is that I can't fit all my music on my iPod now...adding in video and photos would make it worse.

iPod classic, here I come....maybe. Perhaps I should just get an iPhone...

I don't get why everyone is bitching about the iPod touch killing the iPhone's sales. I don't think it will.

You buy the iPhone if you want a phone, primarily... thus the contract. All phones have contracts. Am I the only one who isn't ignoring the fact that it's a Cellphone and that is suppose to be it's primary feature, thus.... the phone in it's name. o.o

I had no interest in it because it's a Phone... but I want the iPod Touch, since it's NOT a phone.

I'm pretty sure everyone else feels the same, including iPhone owners.

Ehh, i believe they specifically said that the iTunes wifi store would be free, didn't say wifi as a whole. But you are right, that would be a huge feature to give free wifi to iPod customers.

ok this pisses me off. i guess I should have waited to get the iphone now. oh well I still am happy I bought it. but 200 dollars is alot of money.
