Except that this isn't just ANY tech company, it's Apple. They are notoriously secretive and anytime they DO update the website, no matter how small, it usually gets reported on tech blogs around the globe.
And you, of course, MUST rabidly READ the tech blogs on a daily basis? Because there's going to be a test someday?
To imply "a day you'll never forget" for this announcement is just ridiculous.
Don't blame Apple that some people are unable to control their emotions, and allow themselves to get swept up in trivial matters.
Let's review:
Apple doesn't even hold an event, doesn't invite tech journalists and guests, etc. but simply posts some Rohrsach riddle on their website for less than 24 hours that pertains to THEIR iTunes business venture. Less than 10 words, and a graphic of clocks.
Apple is clearly going for understated (e.g. they didn't hold a live broadcast event, didn't have the surviving Beatles play a song, etc). If they really wanted to promote an announcement, don't you think they'd give more than 18 hours notice?
Doesn't matter, though: that's time enough for rabid personalties to build up their hopes ("World Peace!" "End of Hunger worldwide!"), only to have the Evil Apple Inc dash their dreams....
In fact, the disappointment you experience means that in fact you probably WILL remember this day for the rest of your life, as you'll recall the day Apple disappointed you, so it will become ironically TRUE in some cases, as a self-fulfilling prophecy, a loss of personal control.
Maybe some here should take this as a learning experience, an opportunity for personal growth. Apple, and to an even greater degree, YOU, aren't all that important in the big scheme of things. Your doding Mother aside, it's not ALL about you, you know...
I am cool with Apple blowing The whole Beatle launch out of proportion.
The only ones "blowing this out of proportion" are those who apparently have some hole in their life, such that they choose to blame others for all of their perceived insults and disappointments in life, when such disappointment is actually of their own making. Only YOU can determine your reaction to events, no one else.
I am reminded of the words attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt: "No one can make you feel inferior, without your allowing them to do so". (Just goes to show these pearls of wisdom aren't found only in Eastern mysticism: who knew Eleanor was familiar with Buddhist philosophy?).
