?? But is wasn't even an event. It was an online promo and then the release. Within a day or two. Not weeks like every big Apple deal. This was a great proper way to do this. It wasn't even a live on stage event with Paul and Ringo. Most people didn't even hear about it. But the will now!!!

Why not do it for every band. There people who like The Beatles and people who don't. Having The Beatles in the iTunes store i couldn't careless, the prices that us Australians have to pay is a joke, id never buy from there. I can buy physical CD's at half the price or use other online stores that are far cheaper.

Finally another voice of reason. Quoted for truth.

All Apple did was replace a graphic on their home page for 24 hours. That's it. How anyone thought the announcement would be anything but something of this relative size and scope is beyond me. It was an announcement. Want to see over-hype? Go read a HuffPost headline.

This is a big deal—by any measure. The #3 album on iTunes right now? The Glee Cast Christmas Album. Most people, and by that I mean nearly everybody, don't know or don't care about bit rates, 90 sec. previews, data centers or cloud computing. They vote for Bristol Palin on DWTS, concern themselves with the size of Katy Perry's breast—which are #2 on iTunes right now—and generally just get on with their lives.

Apple's promo was perfectly appropriate. They are going to sell a lot of Beatles tunes.

I don't know what music you haters listen to, but will anyone be listening to it in 40 years?

Elegant and stylish announcement by Apple. Now, get back Jojo, go home

That's on you, not Apple.

This can not be repeated to often. People are blaming Apple for their own personal issues.

Here is a hint, if you are in any way mad or upset about this announcement or the way it was announced, you have a serious problem. I am not kidding, you should seek professional help. The marketing people have a little fun by posting a pre-announcement web page riddled with clues so people can have fun figuring it out, and this makes you mad. People who falls into this category should avoid any sharp objects and seek help.

Thank you, Apple. Nothing is funnier than seeing a bunch of pissed off people who can't read and comprehend.
As others have said, Apple never said that this will be the day that you will never forget. They said that you will never forget that today is just another day..

Because, in case you don't know, The Beatles are arguably the most popular and most artistically significant band in the history of rock and roll.

Talk about an epic fail -- every time I attempt to watch a Beatles ad on Apple's site, Safari crashes. That certainly makes for a day I'll never forget....

Why? :)

Why do people think that everything Apple does has to be tailor-made to please them?

If you can show me where I said that the announcement had to please ME, I'll concede your point. The thing is, you won't find it. I simply figured that there was a bigger announcement coming at 10:00 since they revealed the Beatles music in the iTunes Store earlier than 10:00.

And since people are asking, yes I'll remember this day in 25 years. I'll remember it as the day Applebots ran wild with theories in the span of 22 hours because Apple posted a vague ad on their front page only to be let down because of their own disillusion thoughts and post furiously on forums around the globe at how angry they are at Apple and claiming The Beatles suck dick.

boo ****ing hoo

if you are a little bit interested in beatles, you got this remastered version a long time ago, also the box is so nice, and the content that comes with it, papers, etc etc.

what a huge letdown.

apple is failing so much lately, iphone looks dull to dual core androids etc etc. meh

And again, you make the mistake of thinking that all consumers think and act just like you do. That's probably why you don't work in marketing or advertising.

And to expand upon that idea, if buying rights to sell the Beatles catalog is truly a bad investment that doesn't offer a decent ROI in the future, then Apple will take it in the shorts on the deal, and shareholders will ask for Jobs to be fired as CEO (or at least, they will sell their shares).

Some of you are seemingly unaware of the value of the Beatles catalog, and might be wise to look at future sales estimations before daring to give Apple and Jobs business advice (being that most of you haven't started ANY company, let alone one that amasses billions of dollars in sales revenue)....

I already forgot this day. I've owned all the CDs for years. Most folks I know, especially the 20's and 30's crowd, could care less about the fab four. I still love them but hey, I grew up listening to them.

I guess you weren't around when the box sets were released. There are a number of reasons why many fans chose not to buy either set, one of the main ones being "I'm going to wait until they're available on iTunes."

To all,

I maybe in my 20's but I like some of the beatles stuff, and yes Im british.

All the comments here wont make a single difference to what goes on in the public eye. People will still buy them all, even if they have the CD's because they wont want the hassle of transfering them from CD to Ipod!

Also I notice a huge majority of people who say 'BORING' and all that stuff, if your bored go and do something else and not complaining about how hyped up this press release and stuff was!!!:D

CentralMan

I like The Beatles they have some great music, i own many cd's of theirs.

Why should i care about this announcement ? They are now available in a Store that sells their music at 100% mark up from anywhere else.

YAWN
