What exactly is irrational about this assumption?

And it looks like a more and more rational assumption the longer we go without people reporting that they a) received the email, and b) their watch is shipping/shipped.

It's a very low stakes assumption. Why get your hopes up? More to the point, why would Apple send this email if they didn't expect a *lot* of disappointment on Friday?

Wouldn't the even more rational assumption be that if this email really means "you don't get your order Friday" that Apple would have said that in the email, or adjusted the delivery window?

Is it not equally likely that they sent it to people still in Processing to get them to calm down until their orders do go to prep? I realize if so that it backfired spectacularly in that regard, but since I don't understand why people are freaking out about an email that includes the date "4/24", jt's possible apple didn't see the hysteria coming.

If I'm wrong and it really is corporate speak for "you are screwed", I'll re-assess my view of how Apple handles launches and communication. If absolutely no one who receives this email that includes the date 4/24 actually gets one on 4/24, that will be a PR disaster.

Just got the EOD. :(

:09 confirmation email.
4/24-5/8 ship window.
42mm SS Milanese in Iowa.
Status: processing
Credit card not charged.

I'm beyond pissed at the people here defending Apple and telling everyone to calm down. I've used Apple products since 1992. I bleed Apple. I have a freaking launch day Newton in my desk right now, that works. I've ordered every iPhone and gotten it launch day EVERY time.

All of this could have been avoided had the Store merely said "will ship BY 5/8." We would have all been fine. The fact that they suggested 4/24 as an option, based on all our collective past experiences with launch days, means we assumed 4/24.

Quit defending this crap. "Oh it's a watch, it's special and super duper hard to make and Apple doesn't know how to make them and supply them."

The iPhone has way more moving parts and things to work out.

Don't you think you are overreacting? Is that a matter of life and death that you MUST receive it on 24th April? Apple has been kind enough to send a letter to assure you that you WILL receive the phone within the date range. Another company won't even bother and let you wait till the item arrived.

just feels like a cover your ass move to lessen discord

i guess the question is, did people who got their shipped and or charged receive this email before that happened?

if not, then at the very least we can be sure that it is something to do with people who are still in the processing phase only

if they did get it beforehand then its all good

Well they never promised us Friday delivery. Ever. They gave a window. Apple didn't fail, it just didn't meet some people's illogical expectations that weren't promised in the first place.

Say want you want but you let people get up at 3am get the order in by 3:02 and tell me I can't have it on launch day that's utter BS and I will be blowing up Apples phone.

Most annoying thing is that 1) this date range thing is pretty unprecedented for launches. 2) they should have advertised that the first shipments would be delivered in the 4/24-5/8 date range, not just spring it on customers who are up at 3am to preorder.

All they had to do was not say 4/24. When have we not gotten something on launch day?

I have to say the Apple defending BOGGLES my mind. I love Apple. But the whole "JEEZ PEOPLE RELAX" tone in these forums is getting really tired. This is a forum. It's not real life. It's specifically a place to come and NOT RELAX. When I log off I will return to normal life and get the watch next week or whenever and won't think twice about it until I come back here again.

Think I figured out the Delay!

Taken directly from Apple Website....They don't want another fitbit fiasco on their hands so they are limiting models

Nickel. Apple Watch, the space gray Apple Watch Sport, the stainless steel portions of some Apple Watch bands, and the magnets in the watch and bands contain some nickel. However, they all fall below the strict nickel restrictions set by European REACh regulation. Therefore, while nickel exposure is unlikely to be a problem, you should be aware of the possibility in case you're susceptible to nickel-related reactions.

I didn't receive this letter on the two of the three watches I ordered. Both watches state ready for shipment and the one with the letter still processing

I just called them to see what they say about it... they are claiming everyone is going to get it, and its purpose was to provide the links to intro using / setting up the watch with the guided tours, as a sortof "new product introduction", for the people that are soon to receive it.

It appears that those whose orders have moved to 'Preparing for Shipment' are immune from getting the EOD. *fingers crossed

This isn't another company. This is Apple. We expect better from them.

I'm really fighting the urge to get butt hurt over this, but this launch is the most heavy-handed one they've had yet. You'd think after 8 years of monster iPhone launches they'd know how to anticipate demand for this.

It would make sense to complain after waking up and ordering and getting the date range. Doesn't make sense to complain weeks after accepting the date range and then surprised that hey! It might be in that range!!

You are just going to make the processing take longer by doing that.

What the heck is wrong with you guys? This e-mail states NOTHING NEW about your order. It's the same date range that's in your Order Status page. I'm waiting for my e-mail and haven't got it yet. It also says to check out the videos on Guided Tours.

People, chill.

:apple:

3 orders here, one in prep for shipping, 2nd order got this email and it was in processing, 3rd one has nothing, it is scheduled for May 13.

so if u got this email forgot the watch this friday
