Does 212mph in a Lamborghini Diablio at Need For Speed count? :p

105mph in a Peugeot 106. Doesn't feel safe is a care that size!

Regularly 70-75mph on back country roads barely as wide as two cars. I just go as fast as the car can take me
Most fun is driving down mountain roads, but unfortunately I have to ease off speed half way down due to underpowered brakes (well to be truthfull, the car wasn't designed to be going that fast on high grade mountain roads). Also fun is doing 50+mph on a snowy mountain road (driving up-hill) overtaking the slower cars, which is ok with adequate tires and if the snow is "fresh" and compacted.

well i have to update mine. i took my friends to an away football game in a city about an hour away from here. going tops of 130mph i got us there in about 30 minutes. There was too many cars to go 150mph plus I was scared of state troopers.

Need I say more? :D

Probably driving between 80 - 90 mph on I-75. I was scared to go any faster.

The biggest difference between a motorcycle and a car is the fact that a motorcycle leans into a corner the way you should and a car tends to lean out.

Motorcycles are liberating in that you are out in the open and without a box around you. Also doing anything over 120MPH on a motorcycle seems like 200MPH+ in a car. It's just a completely different experience. When you're riding a bike you are part of the bike and every bit of your body has something to do with the bike. When you are driving you're more detached you still use all your senses but you're body doesn't really have any input into what goes on.

Coming from someone that has been riding bikes for 19 years and has over 300,000 miles on the road on bikes I will admit they are more dangerous. Though a well educated, experienced, rider is both safer on a bike than average and a car even though they may travel at higher speeds. The point is good motorcyclists make good drivers. The opposite is not always true.

I love riding and I love driving also but they are a different experience and they both have there moments. I for one believe that one should never ever though a leg over a motorcycle unless you are of sound body and mind. Cars on the other hand are more forgiving on the sound body part. Also motorcycles are a convenience cars for the most part are not. That simple difference makes a big difference on the riders emotions while riding.

About 120-125 mph in a rented golden Cadillac, going from San Francisco to Reno. My friends in the car were freaking out, but it was all in good fun, and we didn't get pulled over.

I used to drive down to LA from San Francisco on I-5 every weekend at a pretty constant 100-105 mph. They once chased me with an airplane, but didn't get me as I saw them first and slowed down to 69 (70's the speed limit).

Now that I have a child, I don't go faster than 85.

It's not about how fast you can drive, it's about how fast you can turn. I love giving passengers rides through the twisties outside of town (or on autocross days) and seeing them hang on for dear life.

Sure is. Any idiot can hold the throttle wide open for miles on end. It takes a real talent to blow off a compact sport car in the corners while driving a Toyota Corolla.

That reminds me of this past March when my wife's Corolla S was stolen. I search through all the worst neighborhoods in Lexington for about a week until I found it one afternoon. My wife called 911, but the cops were not being helpful at all. I approached the losers who had my car, but they just locked the door and took off, bumping my body in the process. Being a Corolla "S", it LOOKS fast. They didn't know what to think a moment later when I had returned to my little Echo and was right on their tail only two blocks down the street! They just couldn't shake me. That was the first (and only) time I had ever squealed the tires in my Echo. They finally bailed in an alley. I almost caught the driver on foot, but being a fat white boy in this part of town I started having scenes from Blackhawk Down go through my head (I know, that was nuts, the whole neighborhood wasn't really going to shoot at me, but adrenaline, fear, excitement, and anger can hamper one's judgement) , so I stopped and let him get away. It was a great Sunday afternoon, though!

Good to hear you go the car back. Hopefully it wasn't damaged too much. Sounds like you had a bit of fun.

London to Newcastle and back, circa 1986 so pre-Gatso (speed cameras), company-owned 2.8i Granada (the proper 'big Cortina' shape), 120mph the whole way.

It had an early, dreadful 'computer'. One useless digital 'clock' gave a fuel economy figure. If you floored it right, you could get a reading of 1.9 mpg.

I felt like I was in The Sweeney (although very few of you will appreciate that).

For those of you who live in Oregon I made it from the Oregon/Washington border on I-5 in Portland to my home 25 miles SE from Eugene on Hwy. 58 in an hour and 12 minutes on a motorcycle. I followed some guy in a 911 Carrera for 3/4 of the trip. For those of you wondering how far it is it's 136 miles.

It was quite the trip.

I've done 130 MPH in my friend's C5 vette :D. Would have gone faster, but traffic, you know.

Just shy of 140mph when some chav in a Focus got the idea his was the better of the two cars  (I had pulled out to pass him, he decided to accelerate once I was alongside - so I floored it to teach him a lesson...

Location: M74 (Scotland), Car: Saab 9000 2.3l Full pressure Turbo

122 mph in my 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT... Then I did some fast breaking action due to the two cars in the only two lanes in front of me. I was on the I40 just west of Albuquerque NM (heading away from ABQ) at the time.

Fastest as a driver was 135mph returning from holiday in France and racing for a boat. Although this was motorway driving so not really exciting fast.

Most fun was probably half that speed on twisty narrow roads in various cars I didn't own. My old boss had a huge collection of cars including a Lancia Delta HF, Porsche 944 S2 Turbo and a Ferrari F40 never got to drive the F40 myself.

Maddest was trying to make a flight (again at the end of a holiday) in a rented Fiat Punto on the way to Gatwick just over 100mph through traffic on the motorway for over an hour. Missed the flight by about 3min. after parking at the right terminal running to the other terminal by mistake and then having to run back!

Just over 130 mph in a VR6 Jetta (I-90 Express Lanes across Lake Washington). That's always fun because there's no cops. Other than that, had a 120+ mph chase with some guy who got mad that my friend threw a cherry into his convertible up 405....that had the adrenaline flowing :D
