Just went into a T-Mob shop on Oxford St London and they are expecting a delivery of nano-sims and iphone 5's tomorrow. He told me that there are about 150 nano-sims more than iPhone's on the shipment so he said I can buy one tomorrow and enable it over the phone on Friday!! Best news I've heard from T-Mob yet!!

However I did managed to sneak a nano-sim adapter from a '3' shop down the road just incase I have to get the scissors and sander out!! ;-)

Giffgaff nano sims

I WAS with giffgaff as they are the cheapest but when they said it would be "months" before they would get nano's in I jumped network.

Went to Three and got a sim only deal from them and got the adaptor for nothing!

Nationally O2 have the worst 3G coverage. Three and T-Mobile/Orange are about equal, then its Vodafone then O2.

That may be true but I've been over a fair bit of the UK in the last couple of years and have never had a problem getting a 3G signal on O2. And there, really, is the rub... the charts don't really matter, what matters is the experience each individual has and how well a particular network serves their needs. Also bear in mind you can't necessarily rely on operator coverage figures as it depends how they're measuring them. O2, f'instance, shows a much wider range of coverage in the wilder parts of the UK than 3 but may not have such good coverage in areas of higher population (where a small hole may significantly impact overall coverage if you're going on % of population).

Another worry I have with EE is that their network may get slammed once they put LTE live, especially in non-LTE areas. Why do I say that? Simple, a LOT of people will shift over if they get the marketing right but most areas won't have an LTE service. Net result is a ton of new customers using 3G services. Hope the network is ready for that...

Thanks for the info. I'll try my local t-mobile stores tomorrow, and see if I can get one. At this point, I don't even care about paying for it......I just need a sim in place before Friday :)

So is it an idea to get a nano sim as early as possible and activate it immediately because there will be a huge amount of traffic for the service providers to process on friday.

Looks like you may be lucky. Just called my local stores, and they all say that they expect the sims tomorrow, but they won't be given out until Friday :(

I'll be calling again tomorrow to see if they have any new info.

Bit late since my last reply, but I went into my local 3 store yesterday to ask for a Nano Sim to Sim adaptor, and was given one with no questions asked after mentioning I received a nano sim in the post from them. They're simple plastic adaptors, it seems they have plenty stocked under the counter. I activated mine last night through here. It probably took 3 hours to get fully switched over and is now fully working with my Nokia E5 (God help me, I can't wait for my iPhone!!).

Second bite a nano sim swapping with 3 and its been smooth sailing. Couple of hours later I had No Service so switched in the nano plus adapter and was up and running. Come Friday it should be a painless transition...apart from the 2m other folk trying to restore from iCloud

Received my O2 nano sim ordered from customer services today! Switched over by text and it was done in 30 seconds!

Received both nano sims ordered from Vodafone today, ordered them this past weekend!

Now just need to find me an adaptor...

I am on 02 and I did the online SIM transfer yesterday, it said it will take between 1 and 2 hours. Still not done this morning. Anyone elses taking this long? They text you a number and it you enter it on the website.

Earlier in a week I posted a PDF on this thread about cutting sim. Well yesterday I used it and cut my iPhone 4 t-mobile sim and put it a adapter I picked up from 3 free. And it's still working.;). Once I get the iPhone 5 I will try it, worst case might have to sand it, only took about 10 seconds lol all good

Coverage isn't everything. I have VF and 3 sims. VF better coverage but call and data quality poorer in densely populated area. Probably due to network congestion. So I use 3 in the main.

Any more news on this mate?

Went into the O2 store on Oxford Street this evening to be met with a surly "don't have any left, you should have come in earlier". When I asked what time they suggested (obviously I work....) the response was the fantastic "I got 100 this morning, how am I supposed to know when people will be in to get them".

Think I'll try a different store tomorrow!
Well, I then tried the Strand (none left) and Fleet Street (hadn't had any all week) without success.

I then tried the other Oxford Street store, after being told to queue in a couple of different queues, I found someone who had the Nano-sims and handed one over, no questions asked. When I asked if the adapters were inside the packet I was told "no" and that the SIM could not be activated until Friday....another member of staff overheard this and corrected his colleague. 2 adapters (micro and SIM) and instructions on swapping.

Used the text mesage to swap, absolutely no problems at all. Simple, took 3 minutes from first text message to new SIM working no problem at all.

Found there are 3 stores near Oxford Circus. Did you go to the one near OXford circus station? Or the one between OXford Circus and TottenhamCrt Road?

cheers for your reply.

I tried doing it online twice and had no luck despite waiting for more than 12 hours. I then tried the text method and it worked within 5 minutes. Follow the instructions on the sim pack.

The first one I tried on Tuesday was the one at Bond Street station, the guy there was rude and dismissive.

The one I got the Nano sim from was the one at 135 Oxford Street, up near Tottenham Court Road.

I'm not sure how this work...

I've got a standard sim card for the blackberry 9780, do i have to go O2 shop to request for nano sim card? in that case - do i have to get a new number or they will cut for me?
