Guys my phone is going to arrive on Friday, and I still haven't found a sim that I can use, it will come unlocked and all the pay to go programs I've looked into do not offer a nano sim. Also I can't get a monthly contract because I'm an EU student.
Is my only option a micro sim and a pair of scissors I really don't want to rape my new phone.

You may be able to get an Orange PAYG nano sim from a store on Friday. Orange's communication has been a little bit... hit and miss though.

Before cutting it, you might want to check out videos that are on Youtube, just to make sure that you do a good job.

If you're getting a nano sim with a contract phone, is there anything that you need to transfer from the micro sim to the nano sim? Or is everything you need on iCloud now?

Have T-Mobile changed their mind now and decided to send nano sims out early, the Twitter account still seemed to be saying 21st September. Then the last message they sent before they finished for the day asked the customer to follow them which would seem to me they wanted details to be able to send one to them.

On hold to them now but I expect to be fobbed of as usual.

They were asking about a micro SIM for an iPhone 4.

Yeah just re-read it, just assumed no one would be asking about Micro-sims and read it as Nano-sim.

Got off the phone with them and they are as stubbon as always. They are not even friendly about it, really poor customer service. They are now the only UK network that doesn't let you get one in advance of the 21st.

exactly. the only network that's charging and the LAST network to even offer them.

grabbed a o2 Nano Sim today to cut our giffgaff payandgo sims ready for friday!

All good, had to cut a slight part of the top and bottom gold contact area but both sim work fine in a micro adaptor atm.

I just need to sand the rear slightly :)

brave man!

Anyone had any luck with Three PAYG nano sim swaps in store yet?

Also interested to find this out. I called my local Three store yesterday and the guy said they would have some in today. I asked if they would be available for PAYG and he said yes, but hesitated, so i'm not confident.

Can't get to a store until later.

just got off the phone with my local EE store. They guy initially didn't know what a nano sim was until i said about the iphone 5. He also thought i might have been from the press because he asked who i worked for  anyway, he said nano sims won't be in until tomorrow and that if you need a sim swap it will be a different type of sim an "interactive nano sim" not sure how true that is, but he told me to phone back tomorrow

I've also just got off the phone, but with a Three store. I tried my best to wangle a nano sim out of the assistant manager but no luck.

They literally only have enough to cover their pre-orders for the iP5 at the moment. He said they were getting a delivery tomorrow with more phones and sims and he'd know if they have a surplus of sims then.

I only want a PAYG nano sim, but he really couldn't tell me if they are likely getting any PAYG nanos tomorrow. He didn't sound confident.

I overheard him and a colleague talking in the background and pretty much said all that between themselves so he wasn't just fobbing me off.

Interesting little side note, he said he'd just got their first pre-order batch of iPh5's this morning and has been told not to touch or even look at it haha!

When you hear it in "real life" the secrecy does sound a little funny over a phone! Don't get my wrong it's exciting getting the new iPhone but still.

I just want to be able to use my new iP5 with a nano! Where can I get a bloody nanon sim on PAYG!

I'm quite surprised that a lot of people have still stuck with O2 but each to their own :)

Ultimately I'm sticking with them for now because: a) the network coverage has always been pretty damn good, b) I get a decent SIM only deal at £16.50 a month for everything I need and most importantly c) they have a great customer service team.

It's the last bit more than anything that keeps me with them. I'll never go back to 3 after spending over an hour trying to get a PAC code out of them a few years ago. EE are interesting because of LTE but I want to see how that goes when they launch it, how much it costs etc. Vodafone don't offer anything better. O2 on the other hand have never been anything but helpful to me and have always been really easy to deal with. I value that a lot more than a couple of quid a month off the bill.

Is there anyway to do a sim swap with Three online?

Dont think so. Give them a ring. I was on the phone to them this morning and have to say that they are the best overseas customer service team I've ever dealt with.

Ditto!

Same here... O2 have best coverage for 3G and very good customer service.

eg. spoke to O2 rep yesterday about when O2 will get 4G. he mentioned how O2 will placed a bid in March 2013 for 4G but it is unlikely to work with iphone5; due to iphone 5 only supporting certain frequencies...

I wouldn't get a reply like that from orange/ t-mobile or 3...

So so far we have;

O2

Three

Any more info post below and I'll update this post :D There is always the option of cutting your sim - risky but it is there http://www.airportal.de/How_to_cut_Mini_and_Micro_SIM_to_Nano_SIM.pdf

Info is completely wrong in regards to O2. You CAN NOT order a nano SIM online, nor can you request one through the chat feature.

Its strictly instore only, if your store even has stock.

Personally I can't wait to finish my contract with them an move to a far better provider such as 3.

Just picked up my nano sim from an O2 store. No hassles or questions asked and they just handed it over. Have just activated it by text.
The guy in the store asked if I was buying a phone from Apple rather than O2 as he said they would have plenty of stock for everyone whether in contract or not

Nationally O2 have the worst 3G coverage. Three and T-Mobile/Orange are about equal, then its Vodafone then O2.
