Why do people complain about iPhones today being too big and heavy. You want a phone to bend? You want great battery? You want a nice big screen? Well guess what it needs a bigger package. Look around the current devices from other manufactures….great battery life because of big batteries that require a bigger phone.

Bend problems? Never had them.

Great battery? I’ve never had an issue.

Nice big screen? Nope. Don’t need it.

Give me light, pocketable, one handed use, and without a camera lens sticking an inch off the back of my phone.

You can take the stainless steel, MagSafe, and Face ID out as well. That will save weight. Give me a fingerprint sensor under the screen.

There are weight saving options. Apple just doesn’t care right now, because most people just buy the phone anyway.

I have a 12 Pro Max now, and quite often I dig out my iPhone 6 and just marvel at it. Isn't it a genuinely legit expectation that things were supposed to get lighter and thinner since then? Instead, somehow we are faced with these monstrous bricks now. They don't fit into jeans pockets anymore, tiresome to even hold up to one's ear for too long... I appreciate the new large screens, don't get me wrong, but even my 7 plus feels in my hand a light years lighter and easier to handle than my 12 max pro. Obviously, I am not upgrading to the 13...
You will see lighter phones sometime in the future(near future I hope) when they advance technology battery and they become more energy dense and less massive. For now to get better battery life you need bigger batteries. Imagine if apple did go thinner at this stage of the game. The battery complaints would be through the roof. From most of what I read from new 13 owners they are willing to make the compromise to have more battery life even with added heft

Isn’t it too heavy for you all?
I am coming from 8 Plus.
I really like ProMotion display on my 13 Pro and the Macro Photography is great, but I also experience a lot of wrist pain while using this phone. It feels a lot heavier than my 8 Plus, even though it’s not that much heavier. (Maybe it has something to do with the centre of gravity caused by the camera bump?) And I constantly hit in the camera bump of the Silicone Case with my fingers. I also miss Touch ID.
I had an 8+, and while I miss the telephoto lens on the camera, when I upgraded I went with the standard 12 just for the weight savings alone.

Never had battery life problems or bendable iPhones. I do appreciate the bigger better screens. My phone is arguably the most used device on a daily basis. I do mostly everything from it. Work etc. I actually appreciate the size. As per my iPhone history I hated big phones. Spoke bad about them. Once I got the iPhone X it prepared me for the big screen big phone territory. Now to me small tiny phones are no good for me.

They do care and their face ID is the most advanced face recognition out of any smart phone. More secure than touch ID and it’s now integrated in all Apple Pay situations. I agree with you on MagSafe since I don’t personally use it myself, but others can weigh in if they found it useful. Stainless steel is nice to have and more durable when it’s dropped on the sides. Yes there is a weight gain because of it so it’s a whatever to me

I totally agree. My 13 Pro has exceeded expectations. The only things missing that I wanted to see are USB and touch ID - face recognition is amazing but I live in Japan where we still wear masks everywhere for the time being.

As for the weight, at first, I was worried - coming from a 175g Android flagship - but after a week it does not bother me at all, as a consolation the extra heft gives it a premium feel.

I’ve had the iPhone 13 Pro for a bit over a week now, and to me, this just has to be the perfect smartphone. It feels like this is the pinnacle of what this product should be.

It’s the most beautiful and premium feeling phone I’ve ever used. The screen is gorgeous and so fluid. It’s big enough to feel immersive but not so big it’s unwieldy or uncomfortable. The performance is the best you can get, and everything is just so speedy. The cameras are insanely good. Battery life is better than I could’ve ever dreamed. I love MagSafe and its ecosystem more than I ever anticipated - so many options.

I’m just SO happy with this device. I loved my XS Max before this and while I was looking forward to the upgrade, I didn’t expect to feel this appreciative or this much of a difference. It feels like the almost decade and a half of the iPhone and its refinements has led to this perfect product.

Apple, kudos to you. It’s a shame reviewers are marketing this phone as a boring upgrade.
I reread your post and picked up a major point, actually your final point. The YouTubers and reviewers have become, quite frankly, boring and stale themselves. Although several have posted follow up reviews talking about how deceptively improved the 13 Pro is. The iPhone 13 Pros deliver on exactly what almost every user finds most important: Performance, Battery, Display, Cameras. The 13 Pro feels as you said, an extremely well executed piece of hardware in every way.

I agree. I don’t care for MagSafe either. To me Face ID is a necessity now. I use it every single day. Multiple times.

The iPhone 6, the phone that created drama and controversy because of bending. I'm not surprised they went the other direction after that. Then there's the fact that wireless charging requires a glass back which makes things heavier as well.
Did they really go another direction, though? It took them 3 years before they went back to glass, so I'm sure the possible bending has nothing to do with how heavy the phones are getting. The iPhone 5 didn't have bending issues, and that phone was extremely light.

I think the pinnacle of this series of smartphones from Apple will be 2022/23. Smaller Notch to no notch and TouchID along with FaceID with better zoom will be the three things that the 13 could improve upon. It's a very solid update though. Far better than the three previous upgrades since the intro of the X.

Sounds like the iPhone SE meets those requirements.

Im curious as to what people miss from TouchID? It was fine, but it also doesn't work if your fingers are wet (getting out of the shower, etc). FaceID is much faster and more reliable for me.
Ok, as someone who’s seriously considering NOT buying the iPhone 13 mini because of Face ID, knowing that next year there won’t be another mini (just so you know how badly I wanted to purchase this smartphone), I will answer your question.

We’re on a pandemic, almost 2 years in, and masks are here to stay. Face ID doesn’t work with masks. Therefore, we cannot easily unlock our devices unless we purchase an Apple Watch. I prefer to wear a smart band, with 15 to 20 days of battery, and it provides me exactly what I want: Clock, alarms, phone notifications, health and sleep tracking. So I don’t have any reason to get an Apple Watch.

If we were on 2019, sure, I wouldn’t have any trouble using Face ID like I did with my iPad Pro. It works flawlessly when I’m in my home. But it happens that the situation on the world has changed... a bit. And now each time I want to unlock my iPad Pro in a public place (study/work place), I have to enter the code in front of eveyone.

In 2020, and 2021, I can still unlock my ancient iPhone 8 with a mask on, and even pay with it with a quick gesture. And I would miss that a lot from my next iPhone. And it is a pity, because I absolutely love the new 13 mini, and want to purchase it, but I’m not so sure about that downgrade.

So your perspective on perfection is a phone that includes a camera bump that gets larger every year, as well as overall weight increases? That doesn’t sound like perfection to me.

Most people don’t even need the Pro model and would be better off with the regular 13.
We would all like to see your schematics on designing the best smart phone? You seem to know what goes on with the engineering design etc.. I'll be waiting...

It’s almost perfect but not quite. I think with Touch ID in addition to Face ID (or a more versatile Face ID less impacted by masks / sunglasses), a return of 3D Touch as “Haptic Touch” is a definite downgrade, and a few of the software bugs fixed it would be.

For me the “boring upgrade” definitely doesn’t apply though, as I’m coming from a 2015 iPhone 6s Plus.

Totally agree. I’m loving everything about my new 13 Pro. ProMotion, battery, cameras, design.
Only thing I’m still getting used to though is the extra weight, coming from the 11 Pro.

It's not just the glass but making the whole design more rugged. The 6s was slightly thicker and heavier than the 6 with a stronger aluminum.

The iPhone 5 was fine but the size of the phones increasing pushed them to make a change in design.

Not until that notch is gone it ain't perfect.

And not until the rounded edges come back. The flat edges are a much harsher hand-hold. Perhaps the "chamfered" edges will make a comeback too, but rounded was the most comfortable.

In any case, for what it is, the iPhone 13 Pro is spectacular.

Wow awesome! On battery, do you have to charge at all during the day?
