Because I have something to celebrate I decided to upgrade my 3yr old Joli originals sleeve (Jolioriginals.com) to a new one in different colors. The Fedex guy just delivered my 11" MBA and iPad mini sleeve. They look absolutely gorgeous:

Next step is to upgrade my old rev A 11" MacBook Air to a new one :)

Any thoughts on the Speck Satin, which now says on the packaging explicitly: "Fits the June 2013 MacBook Air 13""?

I went with the Speck Satin. Didn't feel like buying anything online, waiting for it to ship, and just wanted to protect my Air asap.

It's expensive for what it is @ $50 at the Apple store but I personally don't like the idea of a sleeve and prefer being able to just pop open the Air and use it while still be protected.

It fits well. Almost so much so that I haven't bothered figuring out how to properly remove it. It doesn't cover the second microphone now which I'm guessing is what they mean by fitting the new MBAs.

Mine is snug. Over time it is bound to 'loosen' slightly I'm sure, but because mine has the buttons, I don't have to worry about my mac slipping out. But for right now with close to 2 months of usage, it still fits snugly.

Also, it looks better once you put the mac in it. When I first opened the package I was actually quite disappointed, but after I put the mac in and saw how well it fit, I immediately loved it.:D

Thanks for info! I bought the simplest design, w/o the buttons and the fanciful stuff. Really bang for buck! Can't wait for it to arrive :)

Thanks, appreciated.

I bought the Speck Satin in black, and it does indeed fit the MacBook Air June 2013 13".

However... the left side that now does not block the new microphone port is pretty sharp plastic. It isn't bevelled like the right side bottom case.

Clearly this is a quick jury-rig. If your left hand brushes against the new cut--well, be really careful out there.

That looks like an awesome sleeve but is it really worth $80?
No doubt about it! I've been using their stuff for some years now and I'm very happy with it. If you look at the materials and the work they've done it's really good. After almost 3 years my old sleeve (a textured one) was still looking really good, but I saw this new grey leather and I just had to have it ;)

I believe it does. This is from the Amazon page I linked above:

Hi everyone! I just got a MBA 11" yesterday. I saw this and bought it right away.

So far so good but I still want a fitted case. I'm thinking of Moshi iGlaze since I have read exceptional reviews about it but I can't find any in Canada. Do you where I can buy it from?

Also, what do you think is the best brand for screen, trackpad protector? The selection in the apple store where I live is really subpar. No Moshi items for MBs.

If you guys are looking for a relatively low-priced case/sleeve, I have a decent recommendation! http://stores.ebay.com/dobi-x

I got mine from there. Mine is for the 13" MBA. You can see pictures of it on the store, I've also added my photos of my own case.

I'm very satisfied with it, it is super thin and the edges are pretty thick and offer good protection.

Can you provide me a link to this? Most of the sleeves they sell are in zip. By the way, is it fairly easy to close the button? Or you need to apply a bit force to close it?

Got a black one for my 15" rMBP, and other than being a fingerprint magnet, I'm really liking it. Initially hoped it would completely cover the glowing Apple (for stealth mode) but it faintly shines through. Kind of liking even that, though.

The Bag: The ORTLIEB IN-TOWN (BLACK)

http://www.ortliebusa.com/prodInfo.asp?pid=325&cid=2

The Ortlieb IN-TOWN is a waterproof briefcase that easily accommodates your everyday digital and offline essentials, e.g. large files and a 13.3" or 15.4" laptop. It features an internal organizer with two zippered and sleeve pockets. A broad, padded, adjustable and detachable shoulder strap provides both comfort and utility even with a fully packed briefcase.

I was so impressed with the Ortlieb pannier bike bags, that I decided for something truly waterproof, this was the only logical choice. Living in the Pacific Northwest, a waterproof bag is essential. I decided I didn't want another bookbag, so this Ortlieb In-Town messenger/briefcase is ideal.

ORTLIEB products are Made in Germany. Therefore, 90% of all processes are run inhouse at ORTLIEB in Heilsbronn. This has been their way for nearly 30 years.

On order, awaiting delivery.

I am looking for the best hardshell case for my 13" MBA... Any thoughts regarding Speck 13" SmartShell Satin vs Radtech STM grip vs Moshi iGlaze ?

Could some owners confirm if the Radtech ScreenSavrz fits perfectly inside the 13" MBA?

Any thoughts about the Defy messenger square bag. The anti-theft AustriAlpin Cobra quick release buckle looks nice...

I bought STM Nomad off Amazon which works perfect and includes a laptop bag as well.
Bought it from Amazon as they only took 29£. Didn't want to pay anywhere close to the MSRP which is/was 129USD when I bought it.

It works great and fits the Air perfect and also holds my tablet and chargers and various other things.

I decided not to get the CHERCHBI sleeve for my 13 inch MacBook Air and instead just placed an order for a leather sleeve instead:

So I've searched through the thread, and I couldn't find your impressions of the sleeve from Cocones. I'm thinking of getting this one, and I'd just like to know how you're liking the sleeve (I realise you bought this a while ago, but I figured then you would've used it for a while as a result). Since your also from Colorado, I feel like you can give me the best idea of how well it works out on our climate.
Hi. I apologize I that I missed this and didn't respond for so long. Due to some unexpected life circumstances, I have not found much time to be on this board or others lately.

I am sure that giving my impressions now, comes late, but in case you are still interested, here goes.

The sleeve is very well made, solid construction, and durable material. While it is a little tight at first, getting the MBA in an out, becomes easy with break in. It begins to fit like a glove. There is no sign of wear or scratches from the material, and it appears to offer good protection for a sleeve type case. My primary use of the sleeve is for taking the MBA with me on motorcycle trips. I put it in the sleeve and throw it in the panniers. The Cocones sleeve works well for my purpose. I haven't noticed any issues with the sleeve in our Colorado environment. All the materials have remained supple. No signs for drying or damage from UV. We don't have a moisture issue here of course, but I have always found wool to be ideal in dealing with moisture as well. I wear a merino wool base layer on my motorcycle, year round. Ultrathin in the summer, heavier as the weather cools. Merino is breathable and absorbent. If it does get wet, it won't stay waterlogged like leather will. Leather will absorb something like 300% of it's weight in water?

We really appreciate you coming back with this mini-review, especially that you were one of the first customers who bought this model.

Most of the time we sell a sleeve and while we often get feedback right away, not every day we get to hear how our products behave almost two years later, thank you for that.

This sleeve looks amazing. Please let us know when you can what you think of it when you receive it.

This sleeve is quite amazing and very well made, the leather is of superior quality as well as the stitching. I like that the interior has microfiber cloth as it acts as a nice way to keep the MacBook Air exterior clean with out extra effort.

The flap is a key bonus component as the magnets are imbedded in the flap for optimum ease of use.

Another nice thing about the flap is it doesn't add any extra bulk to the overall dimension of MacBook Air + sleeve, this is accomplished by putting the widest part of the MacBook Air in first thus the flap securely closes over the thinnest part of the MacBook Air eliminating any extra bulk.

I would highly recommend buying this sleeve as it is worth every penny. Another nice thing about this sleeve is there is no product branding anywhere on it. It is just pure handmade leather goodness. The sleeve shipped from Florida, in the USA and was quick and efficient.

For more reviews I would refer you to the lengthy reviews on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/listing/162756575/leather-sleeve-for-macbook-air-13-new?ref=shop_home_active

The sleeve is a very nice protector to the MacBook Air, it fits snuggly without being unreasonable.

I would and will buy from iTrust again in the future.

I ordered an Incase 11" Pathway Slip Sleeve from Apple when I bought my 11" MBA.
Fits nicely and what I really like about it is it has no zippers, snaps, etc., which might potentially scratch the MacBook Air when sliding it in or out of the case (uses Velcro closure).
