What makes this even worse is that I had Higuain and Messi for the first set of matches, but decided to swap one out this week – and make the one I kept captain. I thought long and hard about which to drop, and opted to keep Messi.

So, had I gone the other way then I'd have not only got a bumper points haul for Higuain today, but I'd have got double from him as captain. Gah.

And it would have got jolly old 'In-Ger-Lund' further up the fantasy leage table. Have another kick from me! :p

Tough break Jaffa...with Tevez, Higuain, Milito, Aguero lining up...Messi will get assists but not many goals...not like in Barcelona...

8 of my players still to go in 2nd round...but Higuain and Forlan have shot me to 2nd place in the standings :D:cool::D

* A Key Contribution (assist) is awarded to a player who plays the final successful pass which leads to a goal. Please note that Key Contributions are not awarded to players who are fouled for free-kicks or penalties which lead to goals, for own goals or for goals which result from rebounds off other players or the woodwork.

Do they mean the player doesn't get an assist if he scores an own goal? A Messi cross led to an own goal and he hit the post for one of Higuain's goals. Only getting points for playing?

When I checked last, Messi had no assist points, only the 2 points for playing, so I guess so, unless it wasn't updated

They didn't give him either assist so no points for now unless they go back and change it later.

He's been dominating the field both matches but he can't find the net. I've invested too much of my *own* money to let him go now. C'mon Messi! Get greedy and finish one!
 
By the way, did I mention that the player I brought in to replace Higuain the hat-trick hero was none other than Podolski of Germany? You know who I mean, he's the chap who's just missed a penalty. Yes, that's right – I've managed to pick the only man in the whole of Germany who can't take a spot kick.

Gah! Podolski! :mad:

The only previous penalty miss for Germany in regulation play was by Uli Hoeness in 1974 against Poland.

My new strategy from now on – I'm going to pick as many star players from England's opponents as possible, ensuring they have absolute stinkers so England can sail to a famous World Cup triumph with ease. Hurrah!

I'll probably get a knighthood for this. Arise, Sir Jaffa. :cool:
 
Still, at least Podolski didn't get booked as well, eveyone else seems to have been
