Though you can also say wtf is with Mauer. Did anyone teach him any basic base running rules? Balls hit to the 3B or SS, STAY PUT! Do not run to third! I could only see people like Gardner have any chance of pulling it off, and you sir are no Gardner. But, I still wouldn't advise Gardner doing that.

Ortiz really had no business being at the all-star game, the only thing he can do is hit home runs, I mean literally just hit them, he can't run the bases after. Send someone to the game with some actual skills.

The only thing he is good at is Home Run derby, and the only reason he won it this year was because everyone else sucked.
 
Seems like someone is bitter. David Ortiz is an animal, and I'm not even a Red Sox fan and I know that. He is certainly having a better year than Derek Jeter or Mark Teixeira so far.

And I'm sorry, but, whose the losing pitcher?

Hmm, he's only 6th in the AL in OPS... Your only Yankee in the top 10 is Cano (#7).. and your two big slugging 200 million dollar superstars are 29 (arod) and 30 (teixiera)

And you seem a little bit too confident for a team that only has a 5 game lead over the current pawtucket red sox of boston. Wait until we get beckett, pedey, vmart, etc back... September and October is gonna be a whole new ball game.

Last I checked David Ortiz wasn't the guy who gave up the three runs. It was your superstar Yankee choke artist pitcher. Notice how Boston's pitchers did in the game (J. Lester 1.0ip 0h 0bb).

I'm pretty sure the guy who is 6th overall in OPS in the league, 8th in home runs, and 12th in RBI's deserves a spot, especially when MLB has you specifically vote on the "DH" position. And he has those numbers even after a complete **** first three weeks of the season.

That statement just makes you look dumb. He hit the 4th most home runs ever since the home run derby was started. And he tied the record for most home runs in the final round.

Wasn't Swisher supposed to compete in the HR derby? How come he couldn't beat Ortiz? Oh yah, because he choked and got eliminated in the first round.

There's nothing Ortiz could have done on that out. If the ball is caught and he's too far off first, he gets doubled up and that's two outs. Otherwise, it drops like what happened and he gets thrown out at second. Not his fault. You know the guy is slow, so blame the dumbass manager (A YANKEE!) for not putting in a pinch runner.

Hughes didn't give up that 3 run double. Thornton did.

Fixed and oh yeah Canno is the top cannidate for MVP atleast top 3 last time i checked not Ortiz

Could you possibly be any more biased?

He's definitely in the top ten and possibly in the top 5, but saying he is the top candidate WITH HALF THE SEASON LEFT is completely ****ing asinine.

This is why the world hates Yankees fans.

Just think about this. George Steinbrenner's last ever baseball memory was DAVID ORTIZ WINNING THE HOME RUN DERBY.
 
You can ask any other fan in here they will probally agree besides the one reason Ortiz will never win a MVP is because he is a DH He lead the league in alot of catagories even the year A-rod won but many say DH's shouldnt be MVPs

Obviously Ortiz isn't going to win the MVP. I never said that. If anyone from the Sox is going to win it, it's gonna be Kevin Youkilis. He has as good of a chance as Cano at this point.
 
Great way for the Yankees open up the second Half Amazing Tribute to Sheppard and The Boss and A Walk of HR by Swish it should go down as a Yankee Classic for me anyway.
 
Piniella is retiring at the end of the season.
CHICAGO -- Chicago Cubs manager Lou Piniella announced Tuesday that he will retire at the end of the season, ending a storied and often colorful career that included 18 years in the majors as a player and another 22 as a manager.

The 66-year-old Piniella said he was looking forward to spending more time with his family.

ESPNChicago.com's Bruce Levine explains why he isn't surprised by Lou Piniella's announcement that he'll be retiring after this season. Levine discusses Piniella's performance as the Cubs' manager and his future in the sport.

Announcing his retirement now, Piniella added, gives the team time to find a replacement.

"I'm proud of our accomplishments during my time here and this will be a perfect way for me to end my career," he said. "But let me make one thing perfectly clear: our work is far from over. I want to keep the momentum going more than anything else and win as many games as we can to get back in this pennant race."

The Cubs said Piniella will retire as the 14th-winningest manager in major league history.

Piniella is in the fourth and final year of his contract with the Cubs. After leading the Cubs to consecutive NL Central titles in 2007-08, Piniella and his team missed the playoffs last year and have struggled again this season with a new owner, the Ricketts family, in charge. The Cubs have gone 102 years without a World Series title.

Couldn't agree on both accounts. I can't stand K-Rod... never have never will. Probably because he was with on of those teams that wears red. 🙂😀
 
did anyone watch matt garza's no hitter earlier this week? that was the most fun i had watching a no hitter in quite a while.

but my braves have gone down the drain, they stink now, and i fear the playoffs are just a pipe dream. the offense is gone.

The Braves are going thru the same thing the Phils did for the last two months.
Watch out for H2O (Halladay,Hamels and Oswalt)😀. The series against the Reds is hugh this weekend😉. I got a felling my boyz will be back in first place by Monday...😀
 
Yankees Have berkman coming deal just has to wait 24 hrs for his no trade clause or something like that but everyone is saying its a done deal and he was out of the Astro's line up as well.
