i'm shocked the talk radio people aren't talking about this call like they did the blown perfect game by jim joyce. i watched it live, and with a man on second, the marlins hit a fair ball that would have won them the game via walkoff, but it was called foul by bob davidson. they don't score, and they end up losing the game due to the blown call. this is way worse than joyce, as this costs the fish a game in the standings (and my braves an extra game ahead of the phillies). i say this is a much better argument for instant replay than the perfect game blown, as the tigers won that game. so why isn't anyone talking about it? is it because it was the marlins?

The fact its the Marlins might have something to do with it, but I think it's more to do with the fact that there have only been 20 perfect games, but bad calls that result in a team losing when they should've won happen all the time (maybe not in a walkoff situation, but there are always missed calls around the bases or at home plate that result in a team getting a run they shouldn't have or vice versa)

Not saying it's right, and MLB needs instant reply. Give each manager one review they can use on any call with the exception of balls and strikes. It's not going to lengthen the game, because with only one review, they're not going to waste it to see if a runner was safe at 1st base in the first inning with no runners on, they're going to save it in case a situation like with Detroit or Florida arises, where the game is on the line, and since situations like that aren't frequent to begin with, there will be only a few reviews in all of baseball each week.

The Rockies one made me laugh. It's so true and so sad.

Melvin Mora at 38 years old hit a grand slam against the Mets about 15 minutes ago. That was pretty awesome to see.

They all sucked but the Mets one, that one made me laugh.

yup knowing ESPN they would bring up the budget for the Yankees /yawn its getting old allready by the way whats up with the Yanks they have gone into some funk recently hopefully they snap out of this with KC coming up and Pettite comes back.

Best come back win of the season by far tonight! 6-1 against cliff Lee come back 7-6 Now lets sweep KC

heh, when your team's salary is QUADRUPLE the salaries of some of the other teams in the league, they're obviously going to bring it up.

the fact that the Yankees have only won once in the past decade when they've had that ridiculously high payroll the whole time is kind of laughable actually.

yes but has a team done more in a stretch of time since the 90 Yankees no come back to me when a team can win back to back titles :p

I think the Phillies just had the best comeback of the season tonight. Down 9-2 in the 8th to win 10-9 in the bottom of the 9th.

2000, 2009. That is two times. ;)

heh, toronto won back to back titles in the 90s too.

you really wanna talk winning titles in a specific period of time? no baseball, football, or hockey team even comes close to the boston celtics. they dominate that category, and probably always will. nobody is ever coming close to 11 out of 13 ('57-'69) and 8 in a row ('59-'66) again.

That I'll give you, those numbers are out of control.

At least I can probably die knowing that the Islanders will forever hold the 19 straight playoff series record and be the only American hockey team to win 4 consecutive cups.

Memories, it's all i got of them.

That was horrific. That game was a microcosm of the Dodgers' season. They've just been awful since the All-Star break. The odds are going up that Torre won't be back next season. And I used to be concerned that the McCourt divorce would force the sale of the team, but now I'm sort of welcoming that idea.

It will never happen again because there are so many more teams now and it's impossible to concentrate that much talent on one team anymore.

I would argue that UCLA's 10 titles in 12 years (and seven in a row) is right up there with the Celtics run. And it might be more impressive, considering (1) the NCAA is single-elimination, so one postseason loss means no title that year; (2) college players could only play three seasons, so the entire roster was turned over multiple times during that stretch; and (3) colleges had a lot more teams to compete with to get players.

Neither of those dynasties will ever be duplicated, which is why they seem even more impressive now.

I was just talking about professional sports, but I agree with that.

Today's news from what i heard on espn is freaking stupid he turned down a non guilty plea deal which i thought i heard them say he would get about less than a year to no jail time so now he's probably going to get min 3 years id guess? but with what has happen with bonds I'm not holding my breath on that
